    USA Moving & Storage Inc
In terms of the front office staff, I preferred speaking with Ulysses who was very helpful before and after booking my move. I found the other person in the office not as friendly or helpful. I received 10 free small boxes for being an Angie's List customer. The boxes were not as sturdy as the ones I bought at Home Depot and had green stars all over them so labeling the boxes was a bit of a challenge. The team of four assigned to my move could not have been nicer or more conscientious. The move took longer than anticipated but I felt they were working hard the whole time. I ended up tipping each person $100. My move cost over $2000 when you add in the tip. What surprised me is that a blanket fee accounted for 33% of the moving cost. Half of that cost will be refunded when I move my items out of storage (using USA Moving of course); however, over $600 for blankets was something totally unexpected in this move. The other thing that I did not expect was the 3% fee tacked onto my moving expense because I used a card. They would not accept my check. I believe all quotes should explicitly mention the card fee as it can be significant. Long story short, I would use USA Moving again if I can work with Ulysses in the front office and have the team led by Jose Mora.

    Empirical A/V
They were very professional, they took time to explain what they were going to do and made sure that all the settings were correct. They made no mess and were very respectful of our property and we are very happy with the quality of the TV picture.

    Blankenship Movers Inc
The moving was done over 2 days. The first day consisted of moving certain items to a storage locker. And the second day consisted of moving the remaining materials to my new apartment. The 2 guys that came (Alfredo and Carlos) were tremendous. they did a great job moving my materials in an efficient and careful, yet brisk manner. Everything was wrapped well prior to the move to either location. Especially of note was how they moved my 55" LG OLED 4K TV. They didn't wrap it up in plastic wrapping. Instead they wrapped it up in blankets so as not to effect the screen in any way. Smart. And, it was done perfectly without incident. I would use Blankenship again in a heartbeat and I likely will.

    Perrin Gas
Once I'd stated where we wanted the permanent gas line to end, for connecting to the grill's hose, Eric took seconds to decide how he'd deliver and began work. He installed a gas line straight into the ground from the meter. It emerged about 50' from there, at the corner of the bldg., climbing the wall to the floor at a corner of the deck on the 2nd floor. We can easily connect / disconnect our grill's hose at this point. Shutoff valves were included at each end of the new line. He painted the visible part of the pipe and smoothed where he'd dug, so it's as if he were never there. All in under 3 hours! Eric is ALWAYS cheerful, and I told him he could charge more for his labor and materials because his work is perfect.

I cannot say enough about the quality of the staff. From our initial contact, scheduling and contract person, Jackie-to each and every one of our movers. All performed above and beyond any expectation I had around moving. They made the entire experience a joy. They are all extremely professional and I have already recommended to 2 friends who are moving. I would absolutely use them again.

Great!!! The guys (Andrew, Jason, and Angel) worked really hard and efficiently. They shrink-wrapped the beds, love seat, and recliner, and were careful with all of the furniture, especially the potentially fragile items (like my glass dinner table, African art, and multiple framed large pictures. Check this out in terms of keeping to the estimate: my estimate was 4 hrs labor plus fuel charge. When we hit the 4 hr. mark, the movers were not through. Andrew said he was going to (and did) stop the clock while they finished the move so that my move would be within the estimate!

    North Shore Garage Doors
Joe was the technician -- he was prompt, very courteous and pleasant, thoroughly professional. He checked all the working parts, lubricated everything, made sure the door was balanced properly, wrote out instructions for me for the future. Highly recommended.

They took several months... with several phone calls from me wondering what was going on. Each call it was "we need more time". When it was finally done, I thought all was fine, but a few months later... same problem. In between, I took a couple of vintage watches to them to repair. They, again, took forever, and then tried to charge me more than they'd quoted. When I complained he called me a cheap Jew.

Upon walk-in, my question was promptly addressed. Less than twenty minutes later I had my watch back on my arm. It was repaired quickly, professionally and with courtesy. And at a great price! I would definitely recommend Virag Jewelers and will definitely use them for any future watch repairs. In fact, I have a classic wind-up wall clock and when that needs its next cleaning, I'll bring it to Virag Jewelers.

No one wants to have to know the best funeral director around, but Roland is the best around and went above and beyond to assist my family during our time of grief over the death of my father. After quickly interviewing 3 funeral homes in the North Chicago/Skokie/Evanston area, I and relatives could tell that Roland had a wealth of knowledge in navigating such arrangements and would essentially take care of us. He was very reachable via phone (both office and cell); I believe I called him multiple times per day each day up to the day of the funeral. No question was too small or insignificant (i.e. gloves for pallbearers? Guest registration book? Thank you cards?) During our first meeting, I just asked him to tell me and my uncle what to expect in the funeral planning. He provided an itemized list of costs and went through them with me so I knew what to expect. He didnt try to sell me anything outside of my budget (~10-15K) yet everything from the casket to the flower sprays were quite elegant. He picked up our faith-based theme for the ceremony and offered suggestions to complement our vision. During the visit to the cemetery our family chose, when we did not like the initially suggested plots the cemetery offered in a new area, Roland actually found other plots according to our wishes based on his extensive knowledge of the cemetery sites. Several days before the funeral, Roland actually did a walk-through at the very church site where the ceremony would be held and remembered the church from a prior ceremony years prior. I was impressed as I was going to alert him to the fact that the church building had steep steps and wanted to prepare for the carrying-in& out of the casket by the pallbearers. He already had planned for it! The day of the ceremony, Roland and his staff were incredibly organized and helpful with information for our familys designated officiants as well as clearly announcing viewing beginning/end times (and other procedures) for congregants. When there was a half hour delay due to a personal matter from my family before proceeding to the cemetery, I knew Roland had everything under control and led traffic at such a pace to make sure there were no gaps in our procession. There were just so many small details that he was aware of, even moving my car closer to burial plot for a disabled relative while I was preoccupied with guests after the burial. He was a pleasure to work with and made this process much more bearable. He is an incredible person and professional. My family is deeply thankful for his services.
