Rude and unprofessional. My wife visited Dr. Tunnat this afternoon to have him evaluate her foot that she twisted badly the night before. She had called him the previous night to arrange a visit for this afternoon. She was on time to the appointment. When it turned out that the foot was broken, he suggested three alternatives: a soft cast, a hard cast, and surgery. When my wife asked for his reasoning as to which would be the best option, he was not detailed and left her feeling that she really did not have a complete picture as to why one option would be better than another. He suggested a hard cast. When I arrived toward the end of her visit, he had put on a cast. I asked him to show me the broken bone on the x-ray. Without walking over to the x-ray, he told me "you can see the broken bone" as if I was a physician myself. When I asked him to show me the area on the x-ray that showed the broken bone, he refused. When my wife asked for a copy of the x-ray, he told her "you can take a picture of it on your phone". He also refused to discuss with me or my wife whether there might be any issues with putting on a cast instead of doing surgery. In fact, when I asked him if there could be issues, he replied "I can schedule her for surgery next week". I never asked for her to be scheduled. In addition, he gave no daily care instructions to me or my wife to help us to make sure that she would have proper follow-up care at home. Dr. Tunnat did not help my wife go from the crutches to the wheelchair as we were preparing to leave, and he did not offer to help with the exit door of the office as I was ready to wheel her out. He only offered to help when I pointed out that he should do so. Throughout the time I was with him and my wife, he was impatient, saying "I have already spent an hour with your wife" as if he was doing her a personal favor. In addition he was personally rude to me, criticizing me for having not been present for the whole visit. This would be a last-resort podiatrist for me and my wife. I have zero confidence in his willingness and ability to provide excellent service.

She had no business operating on my leg. She was not qualified. She should've called in someone else who had the capability and she didn't. I went through extreme pain because of her. When I came from the operating room she attached everything wrong. She attached my ankle that it was rolled in and sideways. I could tell immediately in the recovery room that it wouldn't stay straight. I kept telling her that it was not straight and she sent me to physical therapy 6 months in. My tibia was broken into 5 pieces. My fibula was a spiral fracutre over 12 inches long and it should not have had any weight on it. I kept telling her that something was wrong and not working right and she kept saying no no, it is fine. I said did you talk to anybody about it? She said she talked to the knee specialist and she said it was fine and if it was a problem in the future we could fix it. I saw my family physician and just after looking at it she told me go see another surgeon. I was in such bad shape and she still would not cut her losses and she just kept on and on and on. She was a fairly young doctor and she never asked anyone to help her.

Dr. Levin assessed the condition, first tried a conservative approach to treatment (physical therapy), and then performed surgery when the conservative approach failed to alleviate my symptoms. He's definitely busy -- it can be tough to get an appointment -- but I've never felt rushed with him. At every step, he thoroughly explained what was going on and why he was recommending one thing over another. (It's also worth noting that my outcomes have been completely consistent with his predictions. He's been spot-on the whole way.) His approach is very intellectual, but he's always friendly and polite.

Dr. Levin's office staff is very efficient, and my calls to them are always promptly returned.

Dr. Levin is obviously a busy man. This meant he spent no more than 2 minutes with me each visit. His attitude was negative as to my prospects for recovery - mainly because of the mistakes of the other surgeon, perhaps - but he was singularly unhelpful in my recovery. His attitude was so lousy that every time I went there I was convinced I would never recover. I brought this up and he just said "well don't shoot the messenger." His attitude was that the mistakes of the surgeon had doomed me. I used him only to get a prescription for physical therapy thereafter; he was not clearly not committed to the best outcome for me. I would not recommend his services with regard to being someone to support the healing process and the positive mental attitude needed to recover from a serious injury.

He is good communicator. Usually he is prompt; however, there might be delays in case an emergency gets in ahead of you. He is patient. His office staff is good and his office atmosphere is really nice. There is also free parking available nearby. He is funny and has a very good sense of humor. He also recommends good places for physical therapy.

I understand my situation much better after seeing Dr. Portland and will hold off surgery till I see how the condition progresses on its own.
