Insurance Agent reviews in Evanston

    American Access Casualty Company
American Access is, in my opinion, operating a fraudulent company. They are not interested in facts, fairness, or protection of their own clients. They are interested only in how much money they can keep in their coffers. I was in an accident with one of their insured. Their insured was at fault, was issued a ticket, and found guilty of the violation. The insurance adjuster refused to listen to any of the facts of the case, and decided they would accept 60% fault for the accident, regardless of evidence (photos, police report) and testimony from both parties involved. In addition, their estimated repair cost was less than half of the actual cost incurred. I sent the repair bill to the adjuster, but as I said, they are uninterested in facts. I paid for all repairs out of pocket, because my car was unsafe to drive and I could not wait for AAINS to agree on a settlement. All told, they offered me less than 25% of the cost to repair my vehicle, which I rejected, and promptly filed a law suit against their client. Before appearing in court, another AAINS representative called and offered me 80% of the actual cost of repair, which I accepted, but only after incurring $300 in court fees. All told, they shorted me about $750. In addition, their client had to pay the fines associated with the traffic violation and deal with the stress of a law suit. I had no desire to press charges or file the small claims case, but the negligent and disrespectful nature of this insurance agency left me no choice. If you are insured by AAINS, find another insurance agency... they will not protect you. If you are in an accident with one of their insured, try to work with the other party directly to resolve matters. AAINS is not interested in your claim. They (self-admittedly) employ a staff of lawyers who are "paid whether they are in court or sitting around reading the newspaper", so they have almost no incremental cost to defending incoming law suits. They will use standard bullying tactics to make you, the victim, feel like you are at fault... that you are wrong... that you don't deserve to be made whole again. If there is ever a class action suit against this disgusting, fraudulent front of a business - count me in.

American Family Insurance - Trevor Pachis Agency
The process went really well.  With AmFam we could select any contractor or repair shop we wanted.  We had to take photos of the damage to our home, such as soaked carpets and drywall, and personal belongings.  We shared the photos with our adjuster as well as receipts for all materials purchased to prevent additional damage.  Trevor and American Family Insurance made the process very easy.  Trevor was very helpful throughout the process, calling multiple times to check-in with us.

American Family Insurance - Trevor Pachis Agency
My car was hit in the parking lot of the fitness center where I work out.  I called the American Family accident hotline and Trevor called me back within a half an hour to make sure I was okay and wasn't hurt in the accident.  He took care of everything.  I got to choose the garage I went to for the repairs and he got my deductible back from the person who hit me.  Even better, there's no accident on my insurance record.
That's the kind of service I've come to expect from Trevor's agency. They've never let me down.

Chubb is my insurance provider. He provide us home insurance and they also serve as contract point, so we don't have to go out and find a company for work. Chubb is very good, thorough and very fair in their assessment. They are very prompt, they are flexible in terms of assessment in cost of putting things back together. We are very pleased with them.

    McEldowney Agency
It went really well.  A long-time friend had recommended this agency highly.  She had complicated insurance needs as she is a sculptor who needs to have insurance to ship her sculptures and also needs insurance when the sculptures are displayed in public areas.
First of all, this agent was very helpful in cluing me in on how insurance works.  He explained the different companies priorities and customs.  My prior agent had never said a word about it.  Also, he kept in touch about what was going on, telling me how he was going about finding me insurance.  He took pains to learn about my situation, look at the house, and explain the paperwork.  The prior agent did none of those things.
In comparison with other agents I consulted, this one took pains to search out insurance for me and was a good advocate for me with the insurance companies he contacted about my house.
The result was that I got more reasonable insurance than other agents had found for me and a better policy than I might have gotten.
This is a company with excellent customer service and professional responsibility and know-how.
I highly recommend this agent for any householder but especially for those who lost insurance because of some weather problem that was not their fault.
By the way, Angie's list's chronology for a review does not really capture the timing of the service of an insurance agent because it requires that you put a particular date.  This agent helped me over the late fall and early winter.

    A1 american insurance
They wanted me to file a police report before they would hear my claim. When I said I wanted to discuss it first he denied his insurer did the work. He hung up on me and said he didn't have the time. When I called to confirm his address they said that they never received my mail. When I asked for an email address, they gave me a personal email address. He was belligerent and the receptionist was too. Very shady!

    A&M Insurance
After one of the big insurance companies dropped me because of two small claim in the past 15 years, I found that none of the other big companies were willing to insure me.   One of the big insurance company agents referred me to A&M Insurance Services. Not only did they find coverage for us with a A+ Insurance company but they saved us money and gave us much better coverage.  They are also very knowledgeable about insurance. I learned so many things about insurance policies that I never knew before. I would recommend them to anyone.

    Rob Block Insurance
He listened to our needs and offered a range and solution for it.  Since he was an independent agent, he tried to sell us various company profiles.  He didn’t charge us anything, instead was on a commission basis with the insurance company.

    Gentle Friends Insurance Agency Inc
Paulina is very responsive and easy to deal with, explains pretty much everything. I did downgrade a bit on one dimension because there were some things I STILL don't understand about one of the forms I was required to sign. (Most of us don't read the forms so there would be no problem at all.) The price quote they provided was quite a bit better than what my previous carrier wanted, and we saved even more by placing the car insurance with them also. Of course, I have not had a claim yet. I have no reason to expect problems, however.

I have received excellent service from Michael Maher and his staff. I began working with his agency for renters' insurance and over the years have changed to homeowners' insurance as well as adding two cars. The staff is always very friendly and helpful over the phone. On two occasions when car insurance premiums went up, Michael looked over the policy and made suggestions of how I could alter my coverage or policy to pay a lower premium. I would highly recommend this agency.
