    1. After an emergency c-section my son was in the special care nursery, I was recovering and repeated asked to see my son.  Not one nurse got me in to see my son for over 12 hours after I delivered.  We really weren't that sick.  He just had some distress during delivery.  I complained to every nurse and doctor that saw me.  Finally a nurses aid named Ava was so incensed that I had not seen my son since deliver that she took me herself.
    The nurses in the special care nursery would not let me breastfeed at first yet the pediatricians doing rounds would come by and pressure me into breastfeeding.  I explained to them I would if I could, but they didn't listen to me or seem to care when I broke into tears as they did this to me more than once.
    3.  There was a patient on the floor that probably should have been in the psych floor.  She was very loud and it was disruptive to have to hear her drama play out in the hallway.
    4.  There really wasn't very good breastfeeding guidance. I later delivered at Evanston hospital and they have a class every morning plus a drop in classes three times a week for after you go home.
    5.  At some point I was given a list of things I might want information about especially as a first time parent.  I checked off several items.  What I didn't know is that all the educational material was via video tapes!  Really.  I assumes I would get pamplets or maybe even a class.  Just a few hours before I was discharged this crazy nurse tried to make me watch all these videos even though I was exhausted and napping.  When I complained to her she tartly said that if I didn't want to watch all these videos I shouldn't have checked all of them off on the list.  I explained that I didn't know they would be videos.  When she kept waking me up to watch the videos I asked her first to let me sleep, and when she still persisted I asked her to leave.
    6. The one bright spot was that the pediatrician Dr. Pham found that my son had a small hear t murmur and she refered us to a great pediatric cardiologist that 6 weeks later found, that as hoped,  the murmur resolved itself.
    7.  I discovered a coding error.  I was overcharged by at least $1000.  I contested the charge and won.

    When I have needed to contact them, I have been very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of their customer service agents. However, it's pretty difficult to actually get a person on the phone - they really try and trap you in their voice recognition system. If you say "speak to an agent", however, you can get through to a human.
    Our health costs doubled this year, so I'm not happy about that, but I think that's also an issue related to the State of Illinois' financial situation, and seems also to be prevalent issue this year among all health insurance companies in general. Overall, I'm pretty happy with Cigna.

    I was admitted on a Friday and spent 3 days there. Let me just say that you do not ever want to be in a hospital over the weekend, because staff and doctors disappear.
    The walls of the room were paper thin. I was in a room next to a man who was bleeding and calling for a nurse with his call button, and no one came. I finally took my IV pole and went down the hall, to find two young nursing assistants just standing around. I told them to get a nurse because the man next to me was in distress. Someone finally came about 5 min later, and he was ok, but GEEZ.
    It was impossible for us to get test results back because it seemed no one was working in the lab.
    I was able to walk around, yet no one ever explained that I should walk around so I could avoid getting getting injections to prevent blood clots for bed-bound patients. (Luckily when they came at me with the needle and I asked what it was for, I was able to decline it, and spent the rest of my time there out of bed as much as possible.)
    I heard an entire conversation between nurses about the patient in the room next to me, including his name, diagnosis, prognosis. HIPPA violation.
    I would completely avoid this hospital again, if I could, but all of my doctors are here. My doctors are great. The hospital could use some work.

    I work independently so I needed individual insurance and went to BCBS. Where to start? They quoted me a rate based on my current age eventhough my birthday was a week after my coverage started and then raised my rate by $60/month. They started my coverage in March but had my plan anniversary in January so that my out of pocket period for my first year was really only for 9 months which then cost me over $500 out of pocket for physical therapy I had that straddled 2 calendar years.
    Working with BCBS is a necessary evil. I don't know if any other insurance carrier is any better. You just pay your money and hope you never have to use your coverage.

    Blue Cross has a reasonably good website and responds to email inquiries within two days. It can take up to a month to process a reimbursement check for the member. Due to HIPA, receipts must be mailed to BCBS. I have had good service from BCBS when the provider is in network. I'm appealing BCBS's decision to deny coverage for a treatment that my in-network doctors say I need.

    I've been coming to NSUH for 8 years now. After several tests, procedures, surgeries, and hospitalizations, the doctors there saved my life by finally diagnosing me with a rare immune condition. I have been so impressed with the whole system. The doctors work well together as a team, and the online records and communication system really facilitates that. It's easy to communicate directly with your team by email or phone, and you get records of your tests, labs, and after visit summaries through North Shore Connect. The doctors really go the extra mile to help, and the nurses are incredible! I've been so impressed with the high standards and quality of care throughout the NorthShore system. The people are both professional and empathetic, knowledgeable but warm. They go out of their way to provide a welcome, inviting, clean atmosphere (the waterwall in the entry is beautiful). The pharmacy is also wonderful. The people who work there are amazingly helpful, and there is always a 2 for 1 vitamin sale (which I really appreciate). Overall, this is the best hospital system I've seen (after living in several states)! Thanks, North Shore!

    I don't have any problems with them. No more that what medically can happen. I am not very pleased but relatively pleased with them. It could have been worse. The experience was great. Nothing is perfect in a hospital. Everything that was done was done with in medical reason. I was able to talk to them about things that I did not understand and they explained things to me. I was able to disagree with them on things Which sometime you do not get from people with high powered degrees. They are very available and the office environment was fine.

    Recently I got a couple of doctors that work there so I went there to the doctors that were affiliated with the hospital. Fortunately there was no problem with the breast exam because the year before when they had me come back for my 6-month exam, I had something in there, but it had gone. There was nothing really dangerous there. We were a little worried because we have had some minor problem a couple of times that we had been there. They were not real serious problems, but things to get sick. I would use them again in the future.

    My 10-year-old grandson fell ill with fever, vomiting, diarrhea and sore throat and stomach. We drove to a CVS care clinic at Crawford and Central in Evanston without an appointment, and my grandson was seen promptly. The nurse took his temperature but related that her finger-device to record oxygenation was not reliable.  Finally, she referred us to a hospital emergency room.   I feel like I wasted money and time.  A recommendation to go the ER was based on flawed testing  using a non-functioning device.  If CVS  wants to advertise itself as a care center, it should have functioning medical testing equipment.

    Came in and I was very sick to my stomach and headache. I was concerned that I might have to cancel. The nursing staff took me in earlier than my appointment and looked me over. They determined that I was dehydrated and nervous. They gave me fluids which made me much better. The whole experience went very well.
