Far better than expected. Her home was a bit rundown. 1st real estate agent suggested a listing price of $175,000. Kevin & crew fixed it up in about 5 days for total cost of about $3,000. I listed it for $285,000 and it sold in one day.

    J K Complete Remodeling & Construction Inc
I found Jack and his crew to be very professional and easy to work with. The crew showed up punctually and there was always someone on the job I could ask questions or get info from. They started 2 days ahead of schedule and finished right when they projected to be done.
As a woman with very little understanding of construction I especially appreciated that Jack was always patient and thorough in explaining options or answering questions. He was never condescending, and I never felt nickle and dimed. If the original proposal changed for any reason, it was always mutually agreed upon. We added/changed some things as we went along, but these "upgrades" were our choice (and a good reminder to just plan on 10% extra budget!). He was also flexible and generous in many ways. For example, I choose cement tiles for our bathroom and they take much longer to lay and are fussy (you have to dip each one in water first).
Occasionally I would need to wait a day or two to hear back from Jack, but generally he was very responsive. And those times I didn't hear back same day the question was not urgent. Overall, I always knew who to ask what and how to get the information I needed.
Any small issues we encountered were quickly resolved. For example, we ended up with a quite a bit of extra tile for one room, more than we should have had left over. Jack and I split the cost. Issues and problems come up on any job, but he was easy to work with to resolve them.
I hope to use JK again for a master bathroom. I was really happy with how this project went.

From start to finish, they were the epitome of professionalism, from our first contact with Dan (the owner), through our meeting with (John?) the estimator, contact with Eric the supervisor, and the work by the crew of Cesar, Luis, Ziggy, and another helper.  In addition, the crew was very neat and tidy and they cleaned up everything beautifully.  These two bedrooms were desperately in need of repainting.  One room had not been painted since 1989 and the other room had not been repainted in nearly 20 years, as well!  Because the crown moldings were in such bad shape (paint was coming off in large pieces - poor quality paint had been applied over an oil paint and it just didn't stick through the years), we had them remove the crown molding and install new crown (which we provided; we also provided the paint).  The work was extremely thorough and the preparation was VERY extensive - it took two men approximately 10 hours the first day to replace the crown moldings and do all the prep work.  There was a major crack in the ceiling of the larger bedroom, and many, many cracks in the walls of both rooms.  On the second day, the ceilings and  closets got one coat of paint, the trim got two coats, and the walls got two coats of paint.  They worked on a Friday and Saturday and when they were finished, we could hardly believe it was the same two rooms!  They did a terrific job and we will DEFINITELY contact them when it is time to repaint our master bedroom!  Drake is terrific!

    Chi Renovation & Design
I'd recommend Chi Renovation & Design to
anybody - and will preface my review with the note that I am in no way an easy
Design & Materials: We called these guys
about 1 week before we closed on our place, as we closed on Aug 27 and needed
to be out of our rented place by Sept 30. Larry (from the design team) arrived
the day after we closed and gave the place a once - over, and then discussed
wood options for the floors. We didn't come to a decision that day, so we
scheduled a follow-up on September 4 where we looked at a few more flooring
options, made a decision, and had Larry order the material on-the-spot. On
September 5, Larry came back over with the project manager, Tom, for once final
    discussion prior to work starting.
Work & Installation: The very next week
(September 8), Tom and his crew arrived to begin painting. The work was done in
a matter of days, and done well. After the painting was completed, we
experienced an unfortunate lag in processing (not CR&D's fault - it was
Home Depot) for our floors, so we went a week without work being done. Tom and
Larry kept us up-to-speed on the delayed material, removed our existing
flooring, updated timelines accordingly, and reassured us that the work would
be completed within our reasonably tight deadline. After a week of anxious
waiting, the floors came in on September 19th, and Tom had his crew work all
Saturday the 20th to complete the installation of the hardwoods.
Coincidentally, on the same day, we had carpet installed by another company,
and Tom's guys worked seamlessly with the carpet folks to make sure that nobody
interrupted the respective work going on in various rooms of the house. By the
evening of Saturday, September 20, our work was completed and completed well-
10 days ahead of our move deadline and on budget.
Issues/Problems: As far as a home improvement
project goes, this one came with very minor hiccups. As stated, there was a
processing delay in the wood from the vendor, which CR&D couldn't really do
anything about. Beyond this, one threshold between our entryway hall and guest
bathroom needed adjustment, as did a few structural mounts in our custom
closets. Tom scheduled time immediately to fix the highlighted problems and was
    extremely attentive to our requests.
Pricing: Very competitive and fair - you'll be
hard pressed to find anybody who hits their pricepoint & craftsmanship.
Overall: These guys won't let you down. Larry
did a great job helping us choose the design elements of our flooring, and Tom
executed each arm of the project on time and with ultra-prompt communication
and world-class professionalism. We are truly grateful for their hard work and
will be hiring them again this spring for a kitchen re-design. A+

    Creative Closets & Storage
Great job! Our walk-in closet includes shelves, shallow and deep for clothes, & storage, single & double clothes hanging space, and drawers. We went with the white laminated wood, and are happy with the quality. Mike was a pleasure to work with, and we are very pleased with the results. He was able to do the install around my work schedule, and he got the work completed on schedule and in time for my house guests to use the new closet.

California Closets of North Chicago Showroom
It was an excellent experience. Barbara the sales person was very knowledgable and helpful. The installer was on time, efficient and did an excellent job. I met with Barbara and she came to the new house before we moved in to measure. They were able to schedule us in the time frame we wanted. The installation took about a few hours. I was referred to them by my sister who had used them prior and was pleased with their work.

    Master Handymen
The guys came in when I was at work and put plastic over furniture, floors, etc and seemed to make an effort to work as well as possible without causing any damage to my condo or belongings which was really considerate. They completed the work when promised. The only difficulty I experienced was in the bathroom. When they painted the walls, they didn't tape and got paint on the trim. I spoke with Gino who had them repaint the trim after finishing the walls. It really seemed like it mattered to him if I was satisfied with their work. Approximately 6-9 months after the repair, the paint on the living room ceiling began flaking again. They came out and looked at it and decided to fix the ceiling again for me even though they expressed that it was not due to their work. It was generous for them to do so and again it seems to matter to them if customers are satisfied but as a new homeowner, I could have benefitted from a bit more explanation of the repair and possible outcomes. I realize that's not their responsibility but would have increased my confidence in them to the point I would have chosen them over any other company. They seem like a very responsible company, taking the jobs seriously and really looking for customer satisfaction. I did find some individuals seemed to care about my experience more than others but over all a good company to choose.

    Lupfer Builders
Dave is responsive and professional.  He was glad to have clear instructions from me regarding lighting, outlets, closets, door types, lighting styles, etc.  He built exactly to our specifications and presented us with options when unforseen issues came up.  The crew works hard, and the kept a VERY messy tear-out tidy and neat.  We were impressed with how they removed all the old ceiling tiling, conduit, paneling, etc. from basement to bin through our finished kitchen without leaving a trace, let alone a scratch or two.  Good job, they care about that stuff and that mattered to us.  The workmanship was solid, clean.  The project started and finished on time, they work daily, no disappearing acts, and Dave was present as much as we needed him to be, though we came to trust the guys on the crew to be on their own in our house without us present as well.
