    Superior Chimney Services Corporation
So glad I found these guys! Had another chimney company inspect the fireplace in our new home before calling Superior Chimney.... they did all these scare tactics and said I needed to spend almost $8k just to be able to use my wood burning fireplace. Something didn't seem right, so I called Superior Chimmey for a 2nd opinion. The technician was very polite, professional, and honest. He told me the bare minimum repairs needed for safe operation now, then made a plan for other repairs that can stand to wait a few years. I'm so happy I called Superior Chimney. Their prices are fair and they are honest with recommending repairs. Thank you so much and I look forward to enjoying my fireplace this season!

    A-1 Safety Chimney Service, Inc.
We were led to believe that our water issue was from the chimney. We were told that the chimney liner was too large for our water heater and therefore causing condensation to form that was seeping through the chimney and drywall. A-1 said that putting in a new (correctly sized) liner would resolve this, on top of some more minor work like water proofing the chimney, putting new cap on, flashing repairs, etc. Because I was 7 months pregnant and because of serious health issues in our family, we wanted to find the fix and repair ASAP so that nothing impacted our children's health as far as further water damage resulting in more mold, so we decided to believe them and complete the suggested work. We then had all of the damaged drywall, insulation and mold removed by another company. Fast forward 3 months to first large rain storm and water came back. Called A-1 and was told that 99% of the time the issue is the roof, not the chimney and if you call a chimney company they are going to tell you it is a chimney issue. They sent the same guys out who confirmed that it was a roof issue and told us to call in roofers. So not only did we spend $4000 on work with this company that did not resolve our water issue like we were told it would, but now we have to redo the other work we had done to remove more drywall, etc (another $2000). We feel extremely taken advantage of. We feel like we were scammed and would never use this company again or suggest them to anyone. They have told us the work that they did was needed regardless, but that is not what we called them out for and regardless if it was needed or not, we were deceived into believing that it would resolve our water issue. They are very untrustworthy and looking to make a buck off of people who are desperate to get issues taken care of.

    Windy Chimney Services
We were really impressed with Windy Chimney Services. They were very professional and we were glad to have them in our home. They gave us a fair price (very reasonable) and performed the services that we hired them for. They did not overcharge us or try to sell us anything that we did not need. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Team showed up when promised, did great work, and followed up with a "are you satisfied call." Old world tradesmen with old world values. Loved them! Their work is still holding up as expected 2 years later. Will hire again for another property.

Chicagoland Fireplace and Chimney Restoration Co.
Chicagoland Fireplace was not the lowest bidder, however' from the start it was clear to see that they knew what it would take, how to solve the changes we wanted, and from what we checked out in advance from others who had used them they seemed to be a good fit for our project. We needed to remove the old fireplace chamber, requiring a new concrete pour, brickwork, mortar, metal hardware and finishing. After all was said and done, it was a great job. We again have a full functioning fireplace that looks good and burns well. Say no more they got our business and took care of it with kid gloves-Grade A

I wasn't too impressed.  They did the job but they kept trying to up sell us on things. They told my wife, by law, they have to inspect our other chimneys, which is not the case. So I would never recommend them again.

Technician arrived on time. After inspecting the chimney, they immediately informed me that I needed a more thorough cleaning than was covered by their quoted price. A $200 cleaning became $450 cleaning. After observing the process, it was clear that their was no additional effort required over the basic cleaning. They simply attached a power drill to the cleaning brush and charged an additional $250. While it was not clear that the level of buildup justified this approach, even if it did the bill went from $200 to $450 and the cleaning was done in 30 minutes. This was followed by an attempt to sell me a firebox relining at a cost of $400. I have since had it inspect by a mason with a recommendation that nothing was needed. Finally, the tech scanned my credit card into a portable card reader. He then proceeded to record my credit card number. When questioned, he said this was required by the credit card company. I have now canceled the credit card due to ongoing fraud. Note; the credit card company tells me to never allow the vendor to copy down a card number that has been scanned.

We were very happy with the service. The service rep was very helpful and allowed me to discuss my concerns and answered all of my questions. He worked quickly and efficiently to get the job done in a timely manner. I also appreciated that he left the yard/mulch looking the same as it did when he started. Job we'll done! I would definitely hire them again in the future.

Everything seemed fine when we had the work done but since then: - Animal control told us that the company illegally removed squirrels due to their lack of a trapping license. The guys fixing the chimney also left a box of baby squirrels in our front yard on a 40 degree rainy night and said their mom would find them and they would be fine. After talking with an animal rehab center, we were told this was not the case and if we left them outside they would die overnight. Yada yada yada, baby squirrels slept in our laundry room until we took them to the rehab center the next night. - We decided to get a new chimney liner this week as we will be using the furnace soon. After being quoted $2,100 for a stainless steel liner by Superior, we found out that we did not need a stainless steel liner and an aluminum liner would cost us $699 installed. We decided to do that. - When the new company came out, they informed us that the ductwork installed by Superior Chimney from the water heater/furnace to the chimney was not done up to code. The pitch was not steep enough which had been causing additional condensation. - Additonally, the new $699 liner included a new chimney cap.... which we just had replaced by Superior. This is when we found out that the cap Superior had installed wouldn't work with all chimney liners (but would work with theirs). This would have been helpful information. Long story short - We just paid $699 and all of the work Superior did has been removed (cap, ductwork). We basically paid $1,500 to have a family of squirrels illegally evicted and a chimney liner removed. Superior took advantage of how desperate we were to get the work done and I will never go with the first estimate for anything again. Fool me once. The guys were nice, on time, worked hard and cleaned up, but I get sick thinking of the money I threw away.

    Champion Roofing Inc

Incredibly pleased with everything done.  Building no longer leaks!  And looks great.  Professional feel right from the beginning with John Skylas.  John went on the roof, went under the ceiling tiles, visited our basement.  He prepared a detailed quote.  With his architectural background and vast rehab experience he nailed all the problem areas.  Champion Roofing does not subcontract.  They have their own metal fabricating shop, their own tuck pointing team etc...  That is important in that everything dovetailed perfectly during the execution of the job.

The Champion crew came and hit it hard.  The project went quickly in spite of some weather delays.  John monitored the project.  He is definitely hands on too!

Whenever I had a question all I had to do was call or text John.  Always an immediate response, even if only to say he was in the middle of something and would call at a specified time.  I highly recommend Champion, and John Skylas.
