    Chicago Water & Fire Restoration
The CW&FR crew headed up by Bob arrived at our home quite soon after the call went out.  They efficiently removed damaged carpet and the underlayment from our basement and set up their moisture extraction equipment.  We could not believe how dry our basement became in just a few days preventing any major problems developing.  As promised, their crew returned at the appointed time and removed the extraction equipment.  Thank you CW&FR.  You are a very professional group we would recommend.

    Reliable Basement Services LLC
I am in a new construction house and had a water leak in my basement.  The representative came out to evaluate the situation, checked the sump pit, the drain tiles and the exterior for cracks. Turns out the problem had to do with flashing and caulking.  The builder has ultimately fixed the problem.  The representative who came out was very responsive, prompt, courteous and accommodating spending time investigating the possible source of the leak.   While we did not use their services, I was impressed by the thoroughness and effort.   I would highly recommend you have Reliable Basement Services, LLC look at your issue and recommend a solution. Should I ever have need of their service I would not hesitate to use them.

    Lifeline Plumbing Heating & Cooling
We came home to a flooded basement and a broken central air unit and furnace.  The young lady that I spoke with at Lifeline was very helpful and very nice.  (I think her name was Jenny).  Everyone that we came into contact with from Lifeline related to this repair was very professional and did a great job (even Cory, who showed up first because they thought we had indicated that we had a plumbing problem).  Joe came to our house the same afternoon we called Lifeline and assessed the problem.  He was very nice and professional and did a great job of explaining the problem to us and giving us options.  After spending time and discussing the issue with Joe, we set up a date to have the new central air unit and furnace installed.  We were given a good price on both units and we felt that Joe was very open and honest throughout the whole process.  Additionally, since Lifeline was unable to do the installation for 3-days, Joe helped find us solutions to get us through the hot weather until the repair/installation could be completed.  The day of the installation, we met Joe's assistant, Anthony who also was very professional, courteous and did a wonderful job.  Great job Anthony!  Also, we felt that Joe was extremely kind and knowledgeable about the entire situation (he went over and beyond to make us feel comfortable before, during and after the repair/installation was done) and his professional attitude helped to make a bad situation much easier to deal with.  Keep up the good work Joe.  We were very, very pleased with the work done by Joe and Anthony and would definitely recommend Lifeline to all of our friends and  neighbors.

    Lifeline Plumbing Heating & Cooling
Steve was able to schedule me very quickly and at a time when I could get someone to open the house for him. He was very thorough and professional. Besides installing the three faucets, he had to replace one valve under the basement lav on the hot side which broke. He also recommended I replace 5 more valves, since the existing valves are cheap and old. .
Steve showed me where the main shut off was for the water, he checked for leaks before leaving and left the place immaculate. He also looked at my hose valve and estimated what it would cost to replace it. I have not had this kind of quality and professional service from a plumber ever before in my 36 years of being a homeowner.
Thanks again, Steve Schneider and Lifeline Plumbing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    QCi restoration/Quality Craft, inc.
Very unhappy with their services! They destroyed our house, threw nasty stuff in our garbage and recycle bins and did not complete the job. They were recommended by State Farm. Actually, the adjuster who made us go with them was fired for unknown reasons. Now we are stuck with their crappy workmanship. The worst is they lost our cabinet door and expect us to pay for it...huh? They messed up our hardwood floors and threw garbage down our a/c shafts. They ended up doing the floors twice, because of their workmanship the first time. Also, these guys are not local. All of the workmen were from Chicago. The painters and cabinet installers were good, but the guys who did the hardwood floors destroyed our floors and treated our house like trash. Don't hire these guys!

DKI was an amazing service!  My insurance company recommended them and once I called the customer service number, the rest was handled seamlessly.  The staff  was amazing, the contractor they sent was incredible, and I would highly recommend them.  What a great company.

Handy Men & Mrs Helper Kitchen & Bath
We've used Handyman and Mrs Helper in the past and have been very happy with their service.  This time was no exception.  Todd came over and we reviewed the areas and items that needed fixing.  He started the next day (between other service calls that he'd already had scheduled) and then came back the following day to wrap up a couple of the larger tasks.   The area in the attic that I thought needed trusses replaced was not in fact where the problem was, and Todd was very thorough about explaining what needed to be done and how he intended to do it.  He also removed old unused duct work, re-routed a vent fan so that it would exit properly out the roof, and replace an outlet near our sink that needed to be updated to a GFI style.  He worked quickly but was very careful and thorough, and left everything nicely cleaned up when he was done.  We could not be happier with the service from Handy Man and Mrs Helper, and from Todd in particular.

We met with Jack and went through the basement for his initial assessment. Our next meeting was with Jack, the framer, and the electrician to review how we wanted everything laid out and configured. Our next meeting was with Jack and the plumber to discuss the bathroom layout and review the roughed in plumber. We met Jack one more time to finalize what work would be done by us during the remodeling since we had free labor available (ie. son without a job at the time). Our next meeting with Jack we discussed more options about the finished basement including flooring, ceilings, bath, and additional work to be performed elsewhere in the house. We met with the electrician one more time to review the upstairs work with the light fixtures and ceiling fan replacement. With this initial agreement Jack developed an estimate and price breakout with a payment plan. We took about a week to review everything and then we signed the contract to allow the work to proceed.

Jack handled the building permit with Kane County. Since the house is a geodesic dome, it took additional time with the county to explain the plans and get final approval.

We had to clear the basement of all items and Jack provided several suggestions for storage locations. We completed the removal of the items from the basement. Jack arranged for the framing material to be delivered and work began around Jul 11. The framing was completed in less than a week. The family decided to change the wall to the laundry room and the closet on the end of the hall, which was handled nicely by Jack and the framer.

Once the framing was complete, the electrician and plumber came in to do their initial portions of the work. We asked for 3 additional electrical outlets be added in the laundry room, which was planned in without issue.

During this period we started to work with Jack on the flooring and fireplace location. We changed our minds several times before settling on a split arrangement of carpet and tile. Jack coordinated a meeting with the flooring company and we started the decision process of which tile, what type of carpet and finally colors. We settled on a fireplace location and met with the fireplace company to determine how it would be installed. Jack and that team had several ideas and we settled on a configuration that made the most sense for the venting and desired look. Since we had previously purchased a basement door replacement, we had asked Jack to install the new door since the existing steel door had rotted out. Jack arranged the installation which took a portion of a day as additional cement wall tear down was required to get the frame to fit correctly. They installed the door and installed new locks which we provided. The electrician was brought in next and completed his work within 1 day working around limitations from the ceiling and optimal light placement.

Once the framing, electrical, and plumbing was complete, Kane County completed their inspection. The insulation team came in and completed the full basement insulation in about 1 day. They insulated areas in the laundry room as well to make sure there was good insulation everywhere in the basement. The bathroom shower and tile work were completed during this time as well. We had to work out the final tile color and arrangement prior to work starting and Jack was accommodating to our last minute adjustments.

With this complete, the drywall work began. The team worked very efficiently and were done in less than a week. The tapers and mud team were also efficient and timely and it took just over another week to complete this work. We started the painting and completed 2 primer coats as well as 2 color coats in about 2 weeks with delays for summer trips and work interruptions.

With the painting complete, the next items were bathroom fixtures, which Jack and our family worked through with suggestions, fit checks, and finally a decision with some of the purchases being handled by us and the remainder by Jack and team. We worked with Jack on the ceiling tile selection, final tile and carpet selections. Jack arranged the installations around our schedules. We also scheduled the replacement of the kitchen sliding glass doors which took less than a day with a very good team. They also replaced some of the aluminum siding (finish pieces) with the excess material from the kitchen door to clear up a few dings, nicks, and scratches. We handled the cleanup of the material from the window installation taking the scrap material to Elgin Recycling.

Next came the installation of the carpet and tile. While cleaning up the floor in preparation for the upcoming installation, we had a heavy rain which resulted in a leak through the basement wall. Having already completed the painting, we had to try to seal the wall from the outside. We made the first attempt by digging out the area on the outside and finding the crack. We used a product from the local home repair. We thought we had it, but the rain the following day showed a slight leak yet. Jack called a local basement crack sealant expert and he came out the next day. The sealant expert used a injection method that filled the crack from within the exterior seal we had installed. It turns out our seal would have worked had we gone another 3 inches underground. With the newly injection sealed crack completed, we proceeded to do the tile and carpet installation. The tile installation had to be done in 2 shifts since the tile order was not completed on the first delivery. Jack coordinated the shipment and delivery to allow the floor tile installation to complete in less than 3 days. Again an expert job getting the tile cut to the corners and walls. The tile work was matched to the walls almost exactly. The carpet went quickly in the family area and they moved to stairway to the upstairs area of the house. The carpet was installed expertly around the corners and tile pattern that had been altered slightly to work around the fireplace tile work that was required by code (Jack talked to Kane County to get the exact requirements).

The trim work as delivered next and we started the painting and prep work for installation. This took about another week, while the actual installation took only about 2 days. We did the final touch up after installation as we miscalculated the amount of colored versus white lengths.

The ceiling tile was delivered next along with the framing material. This portion also went very quickly despite having to work all the odd angles and trying to maximize the floor to ceiling spacing. The fitting work turned out very nicely as well as having the desired effect of a noise reducer. The effort took about 3 days overall.

The electricians came in and completed the electrical work including the phone line, antenna cable, and light fixtures. The electrician took care of all the light fixtures upstairs as well including installing a new light fixture on the exterior of the house for the basement entry.

We then completed the bathroom installation with fixtures and vanity. We had to call the plumber back into to move the water lines since the vanity we choose did not allow a straight connection of the water valves. This was accomplished in just  over a day and the bathroom. The bathroom shower, sink and toilet installations went as expected. We sealed the shower tile ourselves.

We had a short period of limited activity trying to decide what to do with the closet shelves. We ultimately purchased and installed to closets worth of shelves. Jack and his team installed the remaining bathroom closet shelves that had to be custom fit. Jack worked with us to complete the fireplace installation including floor and wall tile surrounding the fireplace all within a couple of days of our decision on the layout. While this was happening, Jack coordinated with the Kane County Builder Inspector to hold his final inspection allowing full occupancy which went off without any issues.

Overall Jack and his team were very accommodating in the planning, execution, final close-out phases of the project. Jack made sure we got what we wanted. He made sure we met with all the contractors to discuss our desires and concerns. He made sure the work flowed smoothly while also working on other projects. Jack's and his teams suggestions on products to be utilized during the project were very useful and saved us extended periods of research. The entire team was professional in the work and the final product quality is very good. I have likely left out some details of the project, but overall a job very well done. Even my granddaughter made a new friend in Jack's dog who was a welcome guest anytime he visited.

    STRUCTURE DRY INC
They gave me a great price and did great on the mold and water remediation. It takes about 4 days to do it. They have large machines that run to dry things out. The owner, even though it was on a Saturday or Sunday, would call and want to come out and take some readings to check on the progress.
