    Authentic Homes Inc
We were very pleased with the work that was done. Frank communicated well about the work that we were asking him to do, the work was done in a timely way and the quality of the work was excellent. My wife and I would recommend Authentic Homes and Frank Kroupa enthusiastically.

    FOUR SEASONS CARPENTRY
This review is long overdue, sorry Tom. I was on Angie's List for something else, that prompted me to finally write this review. Last summer my husband and I wanted to have our deck replaced and have one of the columns by our front door replaced (wood rot). We had two other contractors come out before we had the pleasure of doing business with Tom (Four Seasons). I messaged him about our projects. He got back to me right away to set up a date and time to come out for the bid. He was prompt, very nice and most importantly very professional. He answered all questions we had. One of the other contractors said he may have to cut into our drywall from our basement to do the deck. Explanation for this very poor! What? As soon as he left, we instantly said in unison "no way". We didn't care what his numbers would be! We asked Tom about this, he told us why he said that, but also explained it in plain English. He also said that would not be necessary to do the job. He looked at the column and the damage, let us know, until he cut into the damaged area wouldn't know if the whole thing would need replacement or just repair work. He agreed to write a proposal for each situation so there would be no surprises. He said he would send me the proposals in a couple of days. He left. I turned to my husband said so what do you think? He said instantly "wow, super nice guy, sounds very knowledgeable". I couldn't agree more! He sent us the proposals 2 days later. I couldn't believe how reasonable his prices were. I'm well aware of buyer beware of going with the lower price. However, Tom, works for himself by himself. He doesn't have to pass the cost on to the customer to pay a crew of men to do the work. Now this is where Tom really went above and beyond for us. He went to the city of Elgin to secure the permits. He was told because our deck would be over 4 ft high, he would need an architectural engineer stamp his drawings in order to get the necessary permits. He went to several, only to be told by each one, he would need to do his own drawings in order to have stamped drawings. Apparently it was a liability issue they claimed. They all wanted $1100.00-$1200.00 for this. He finally found an architectural engineer who was willing to stamp Tom's drawings. His charge $350.00. Big difference in price. Now even though this wasn't in the original proposal, we didn't fault Tom for this. This was an unforeseen cost. He couldn't have known this until he applied for the permits. There was also no getting around it. We really appreciated his time and effort to find someone who could do this for a reasonable price. So now after that whole debacle, we set dates to begin work. He did the column replacement first. He did such a great job, you would never know that one was replaced. All the little detailed cuts, perfect match to the other. The old deck teardown, build of new one went great. Tom was here everyday, sometimes working in the rain. He came to the front door everyday when he was leaving to let us know and to keep us informed of anything. Progress and permit inspections. All inspections went fine, no issues. We were blown away by his work. It turned out so beautiful. I know this review seems excessive in length, but I feel I must mention ALL the positives of Tom and his work. So, absolutely we feel very lucky to have found him, and to do business with him. I absolutely will call him for any other project in the future. True professional! Ihighly recommend him. I did include some pics of deck, I will update this review with a pic of the column when I eventually take one.

    Fox Valley Carpentry
This spring we used Bryan from Fox Valley Carpentry to design and build a deck to replace our existing deck. We gave Bryan two ideas we had in mind, and he designed plans and gave cost estimates within a week. We decided to combine the deck off our house with a new patio and Bryan made several suggestions and worked with the patio contractors to make sure the deck was functional with the patio. We couldnt be more pleased with the results. Bryan is meticulous, checking with us throughout every stage to explain and make sure he was doing what we wanted. He also worked with the city to make sure the deck is up to code, and they commented that he went above and beyond to make sure the deck is built with quality and safety in mind. We already have had several people ask for his number and we recommend him without reservation.

    Connolley Installations
From Andy coming out to get a feel for what we wanted, Ive never been more impressed with a contractor. Professional in every way, constant updates to the progress and status of the project. If he said he would arrive at 8, he was there within minutes of 8. He suggested changes to the design we would never have thought of which made the deck even better looking. The attention to detail in the smallest of things made it even better. The entire project felt like it was a personal project for them they were creating for their own home. We already have a few more projects lined up and wont even waste time quoting out.

    Fox Valley Carpentry
He more than exceeded our expectations. He was great to work with from the very beginning to the very end. His professionalism is unparalleled. It has been a few years now since the deck was completed and it still looks and functions perfectly! Again it was a pleasure working with him and the doors look and operate perfectly as well. We will use Bryan for all our carpentry needs from here on out.

Tim showed up as scheduled to bid on enclosing my deck. He said he would get back to me with an estimate in a couple weeks. Never heard from him again. Unprofessional. He got a D rating because he showed up on time for the first visit.

We were extremely pleased. Fox Valley Carpentry handled everything. They designed the deck, worked with our home owners association and the city to obtain approvals and permits and constructed a flawless deck.

    CHAD Landscaping
We allowed Paul to give us his ideas on the patio's design and materials and we are grateful we did.  They thought of design ideas we never would have.  It was installed in professional and speedy manner and they cleaned up afterward.  We were so pleased with the results of this job that when it came to landscaping the front of our house and installing plants in our garden and our water garden feature we thought of no one else we wanted to do the jobs but Chad Landscaping.  We would have no problem in recommending Chad Landscaping for his professionalism.  We will definitely use him if the need arises in the future.

    Apple Blossom Landscape Concepts Inc
We were extremely satisfied with how everything went.  The three contractors have obviously done a lot of work together, and their cooperation together and with us was excellent.  All the crews were friendly, English speaking, and communicated well as the work proceeded.  They always showed up on the day and time their work was scheduled.  Drawings and specifications were provided on all three parts of the project in advance, as part of the contracts.  The deck and concrete went in exactly as drawn.  The landscaping went in mostly as planned, but as planting progressed we decided to make some changes to plant materials, especially around the patio.  Harvey was always willing to make the changes we requested, and was able to locate the plant material required on short notice.  All the plant materials used were top quality and freshly dug at the nursery.  They also relocated a number of plants that were originally provided with the house.  As noted previously, the project was completed by late April 2015.  By late summer, it was apparent a few plants were not looking good, perhaps due to the excessive rainfall in early summer.  Harvey replaced all of the problem plants in August 2015 without question, under the warranty.  Harvey also provided information, both verbally and written, on the care of the plants, including watering, fertilizing, and pruning.
Harvey is a great contractor to do business with.  He has long experience in the landscaping field, extensive knowledge of plant material, and a good skill in developing a landscape design that fits you needs.  He always returns you calls, and shows up for his appointments on time.  He is honest.  His crews are great to work with.  I plan to use his services for my future landscaping needs. However, he does get very busy in the middle of the landscaping season, so you do need to plan ahead if you want to use his services.
