Window Replacement reviews in Dundee

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • I can't say enough about this company. I have used them now for a new front door with sidelights and two times for windows. I have one more round of windows to complete next year and I will be using them. Their customer service is top notch and installers are great. If there is ever a problem, they come out to fix it. Great company.

  • He was very knowledgeable and made a few suggestions of things a handyman could do easily, and also included some major things that might help if I wanted to go that route. There was no "sales push" to have them do work for me. Just information. He also found two small gas leaks.

  • Greg and his crew at GMart are top notch.  We got multiple quotes for re-siding our house, all from Angie's List.  Greg came out and discussed the project with us in detail, and had both creative suggestions as well as options for keeping cost reasonable.  He listened to what we wanted to do and put together a quote that was very competitive.  Before and during the job, Greg was in contact with us via phone to confirm where things were with the schedule (even calling me once to let me know he would be 5 minutes late to a meeting at our house!).  The job took about 10 days in total, and needed to be completed as two different sessions since we needed to coordinate some other work being done to our house around the same time.  The crew at GMart was professional and very detail oriented.  They took extra time to put some very subtle details in place with some of the trim around our windows, and we couldn't be happier with the results.
On top of this work, we had some water damage behind some of the siding that was removed.  Greg took pictures of the damage, and took care of fixing this up for us to ensure it is done right.  We offered multiple times to pay him for the extra work involved here, but he wouldn't accept any additional payment even though this clearly involved more work than expected.
We will be recommending GMart to anyone we know looking for new siding in the NW Chicago suburbs.  They wholeheartedly deserve their "A" rating here on Angie's List

  • Josh was the perfect fit for us. The house needed a lot of work - and we wanted it to be a show piece. My wife's concept was unusual - and Josh seemed to have every answer (or knew someone who did) to help make it happen. The challenge with our house was to repair many years of neglect without completely replacing the siding. By replacing the siding on one side of the house, then salvaging good boards to reuse elsewhere, we were able to significantly cut the cost of replacing all of the siding. Then, by cleaning and whitening the boards, we were able to use lighter colored semi-transparent stains which really look great. The stain scheme is unusual and intricate (5 colors) and the result is fantastic.

I buy things for a living - and really appreciate people who are open to new ideas and don't view the customer as an idiot. Josh had great ideas for solving the problems we ran into - and his prices were reasonable and rational. When I initially quoted the job, I ran into two types of contractors: Those who gave me the "Angie's List treatment" - assuring me everything would be fantastic - but for an enormous cost - or the low ball guys who had a great price - but clearly had little concern for the results. Josh had a balanced approach of setting a reasonable cost for the elements that could be predicted and a rationale cost structure for how problems would be addressed. It worked well - and when new issues came up - Josh had reasonable and cost effective ways to respond.

We could not be happier with the results.

  • He told that he understood what he wanted  and send me a quote through email too. He seemed confident and they presented well. I told them they seem to have been in business long enough with a number of good reviews. I talked to them and he gave me some advice on how to situate the sun tunnel since it has a little dome on the top so that the house will still look nice in the front side.

  • The question posed is How did it go?  The answer is fantastic!
Dave came out to our home to show us several samples for the french sliding door and kitchen window. The french door is a marvin door and the window is pella. As with any construction project, things occur. Once the kitchen window was installed, the crank handle was located high up and to the left. you needed to be 6 feet tall to open and close the window.
Upon calling Olson to explain our concerns and to figure out a solution, they were fantastic. Some companies would blame the customer, the manufacturer...someone but not Olsen. They immediately addressed my concerns and in no time a new window was installed. Do not hesitate to use Olsen window and doors. As we replace the rest of our windows and doors, Olsen  will be our go to company.  honest and integrity filled. Great job and Thank you Olsen and Dave!!

  • The salesman who came to the house brought a sample of the window w/insulation, etc. which was why we chose them over the competitors.  You could see the window and its insulation was superior.  The price was competitive, and everyone involved in the process was professional, clean and punctual.  The only complaint I have was the salesman did not know exactly how much window we would lose with the extra framing.  It turned out to be more than we thought, but we still get a lot of light, and a lot more energy efficiency!

  • Contractor provides specific advice on type of door to purchase as replacement (fiberglass) and helped me measure door jam, which is fortunate as door turned out to be an odd size that required a special order.
Contractor showed up as planned and removed old rotted, wood door and installed new door. Contractor was meticulous about using the right materials (treated lumber & cedar) to ensure the new door would last as long as possible, hold up to the weather and match the existing house style. All debris was cleaned up, door was caulked and new know and dead bolt (that matches existing house key) was installed.
Door looks great, closes perfectly and just needs to be stained as I opted to do the staining to save a few bucks.

  • Stopped in on Saturday to see a high-end Provia storm door.
There was only ONE sales person there & he was with another customer who was completely clueless about what she wanted. All he said to me was hello & never even attempted to help me - even though I was there for a freaking half hour. No brochure to keep me busy . No I'll be with you in a few moments. Not even an inquiry about what I came to see. I work retail & juggle multiple customers everyday. It's not difficult. I just walked out & he actually seemed surprised that I was leaving after being ignored for so long.
I didn't have all day to waste waiting to see if I would ever be helped so I called later. When I called I spoke with the most clueless salesman on the planet. I told him I was interested in the   * fullview * storm door , told him it was green & had to tell him where on the sales floor it was located - several times.  AND HE STILL COULDN"T FIGURE IT OUT !
His response was , oh yeah you're talking about the one with the bar across the middle where the screen drops down.
Ok, anyone who knows what a fullview door is , knows that it is one BIG piece of glass that is framed in metal - no bars.
I repeated my description a few more times & then just hung up on him because he obviously has no idea what he is doing.
I bought two of those very nice storm doors somewhere else.

  • Overall our experience was great!   We had been putting off buying our new windows, but are so happy we decided to finally get it done.  We worked directly with Brian Olson - who has a great deal of knowledge and experience - it made our ordering very easy.  Our windows arrived on time, both day and time slot honored.  The installers also arrived on time and were very conscientious, courteous and excellent at their job!
We can't believe how quiet it is in our house with the new windows.  We expected efficiency, the quietness is bonus.
We are extremely happy with the Quality and look of our windows.  Our house has never looked better.
