    Julio's Services Lawn Care and Snow Removal
    Last year Julio's Services was great although very expensive. This year: 1- they did not stand behind bids provided this year 2- Domingo did not come time after time to complete landscaping wall as promised. 3- Domingo did not let us know he was having problems with his workers until there was no time to hire another company. Last year he was expensive but did a good job. This year he was unreliable. He needs to hire enough workers and honor bids. When I asked him to "make it right," the only thing he did was to say he would "come again to spray for weeds for no charge." We NEVER agreed to spraying for all weeds at 2 properties. We ONLY agreed to have paver brick patio area sprayed. He gave bogus bid of $240 to remove weeds for both yards. He agreed to pull weeds as they completed last year. This was never started. As a result, we have LOTS of weeds and are still trying to find a landscaper to complete this work. He gave a bogus bid of $750 to repair our landscaping wall. Never showed up even after several text messages saying next week. Domingo is very nice. He is polite. Last year was great. This year his company cannot be relied upon. I have all text messages and emails as a record for this review.

    I only dealt with, Ryan at Elite Lawn. He was always pretty pro active and resolved any issue I have had. I have been dealing with Elite Lawn Services since 2015. I had a pretty big 52 abrovite job I had them do in June of 2015. Within a month I started seeing the trees really take a turn for the worst. I contacted Ryan and he said hold off and see if they survive through the summer. In March of 2016 I sent photos and messages about how they were complelty dead (not all 52) but at least 20 of them. He replaced them with no hesitation as every tree has a one year warranty. I asked many times if I was doing anything wrong with watering or using fertilizer. I was told, you are going above and beyond what needs to be done they are just bad trees. The problem I had is, I would have to call these guys every year since 2015 and they would replace, I kept asking what is going on? Something has to be wrong? I kept being told, everything is alright just bad sets of trees. Well this year was the same story have more trees dying. This time I requested we get a second opinion from someone outside this company and see what is being done wrong. Are they too close together? Is there too much sunlight for this particular abrovite? Were they planted wrong? I just want some type of resolution to the problem and get it fixed. I have left voicemails and numerous text messages and have had no reply. I advise anyone to steer clear of this company. Save yourself the headache and go some place else.

    THE NEIGHBORHOOD HANDYMAN
    This company exceeded all expectations. It was a small (but heavy) job and it was completed within 24 hours of my asking if it was something they could do. This meant working in the rain. Professional, trust worthy, personable service. I will call them again if I ever need help with most all types of work around the house. I could not ask for a better outcome. I���m absolutely delighted. Before and after pictures in reverse order below. (still raining!)

    Ken's Landscaping & Supply
    The project got off to a good start, but it was the end of the season. We contracted for work into the spring for a sprinkler system. As spring came, this is where our issues started to reside. There was a struggle to get in touch with Ken and get the project started. Once started it would be random on when he would show up or what work would be done. Getting the sprinkler system installed was a huge headache. In talking with other companies or landscaping companies, they have all commented on things like the lines weren't buried deep enough (this was pointed out to Ken, but "fixed" when no one was around), there is a leaky head, poor pressure in some spots and generally no plan whatsoever on when he will be back to fix this. So essentially a 2 day project max has stretched over 4 months with zero communication on a plan to fix. I am essentially out my deposit (he cashes checks quickly), but will have to rebuy the system and tear up my yard again next year. Essentially I would say expect zero communication, a crew that will make mistakes and be just generally frustrated with the process.

    Saul Valdez appeared ready and eager to work. Quoted $1400 for the job. I gave him initial payments of $800 "so he could pay his crew", that "just left" the site (I never actually met his "crew" and another $400 so he "could rent a skip loader and come back to do the job right". Guess what? I never saw him again. Left with a mess. No removal. No return calls or texts. Total SCAM ARTIST. Shame on me for trusting this smooth talking kid. I found him through Porch.com.

    I've been using Competitive Lawn Service for several years. The quality of their work has declined significantly this year (2018). They leveled and seeded a portion of the front lawn. The initial estimate for the job was done in March. There were numerous delays (that were not weather related) in getting the project started. It was only after I told them I was going to find another landscaper to complete the project did they come out to do the job. June 2018......After receiving an email from the company indicating that lawn service would be curtailed for the remaining portion of the week because of heavy rainfall, a lawn crew showed up at my house and trashed my yard. The lawn now looks like someone drove back and forth over it. When I called to express my concern I was told that they were not able to contact all of the trucks and some of the crews did yards that they thought were dry enough. I have standing water in my yard from the rain. I am currently looking for a new lawn care service.

    DUPAGE LAWN CARE
    DuPage Lawn Care quoted me much lower than anyone else I spoke with. I should have known I would get what I paid for. The first two weeks they came after it had been pouring rain. After they mowed, parts of our lawn looked like it had been trampled all over. It was cut very unevenly, and the edging was haphazardly done and not done everywhere. Customer service was very kind and tried to be accommodating, even providing a free cut to make things right for the 2nd cut. But when they did the exact same thing the next week and leaving the lawn looking even worse after cutting again during the same wet conditions, I tried to contact them to figure out a solution to make things right. I was told Bryan was the only person who would be able to make any kind of decisions but he was always "in the field" or "out of town" and could never return my calls and messages, only replying occasionally by email. He dodged questions about what they could do to make things right and just continued to assure me that things would get better once the rain stopped. After 2 weeks of trying to get an answer, he finally said that our ground is too soft for their mowers and they can't get a good cut, but still refused to answer me on how they could resolve the lawn they had already ruined. I can't even get a hold of them to cancel service. Maybe they are great for some others, but for me this is an absolute nightmare. Be careful if you decide to work with them.

    The flow wells were installed prior to the Spring-time heavy rains and had handled all the outtake from the sump pump. I ended up having zero water come through to the yard. It's hard to tell if the price was within line of other landscapers or not. I thought it was reasonable for the work done but don't have anything to compare it to. I would definitely recommend BSC / Kramer Group.

    Work progressed smoothly. We have received several treatments over the course of the 2017 growing season. Though the lawn is stressed due to lack of rainfall, that is beyond Davey's purview. We expect a favorable outcome next spring when treatments experience the benefit of Fall and Winter precipitation.

    We have a regular service. They've been very good. We have them out weekly. They usually come Thursdays. They come as needed. In the summertime, if the lawns doesn't need mowing they don't come out. They come out if the lawn needs mowing they come out when the leaves need raking they come out when the snow is over 10 inches. So, they remove snow as well. We've been using them year-round for maybe 10 years.
