    Top Notch Remodeling Inc
I cannot recoomend anyone more than Michael and his Top Notch team. I was selling a second home that was vacant and needed a bunch of work but I didn't want to spend a lot of money that I wouldn't get in return so I needed some professional help/advice on how best to spend my money. First and foremost, at the time I reached out to Michael, I was extremely frustrated with the communication of previous vendors. Some never got back to me or took forever to respond, and then if they did respond, the pricing was outrageous. As I was nearing the brink of my mental capacity, I unloaded all of this on Mike and he immediately responded positively and really seemed to understand what I was going through. Let me clarify now, as of this writing, I have never even seen Michael in person. Everything was over the phone or email and that's pretty much the only way I could have done it. He went to the house and assessed the situation. He came back with a detailed list of all the things that he thought needed work, then wrote a smaller list of what he thought we should focus. He asked me my comfort level on how much I can do (i.e instead of him painting the whole house, it would save us money if we did some of it if we were comfortable). It was refreshing to work with a company that obviously wasn't just there to take the money and run. The work was completed on time and above my expectations. The painting is amazing and all the other things he did were just as promised. Definitely worth at least a call with him as he's also a nice guy.

    Mario and Sons Remodeling Corp
Horrible. The house is 90% updated, pictures will do better to explain. The project was contracted for an 8 week renovation starting June 12, 2017. Contract stated Mario and Sons would assist in packing and unpacking (they did not) Contract was signed on May 28, 2017, no permits were applied for. Demo took place in June, and no work was done in July... NONE. This forced us to rent an apartment for an additional month costing us an additional $3000 while waiting for permits The job remains incomplete to this day. Mario and Sons failed every permit inspection. We fired Mario and Sons in early December 2017 following multiple promises to finish. 6 months later. My mother's bedroom furniture was taken by 911 Junk. Mario and Sons refused to recognize this fact; This forced us to contact 911 Junk to find out where they deliver their furniture. We found 2 pieces at a resale shop in Chicago. Mario and Sons flooded the basement during the ceramic floor install. This ruined storage boxes and some furniture bases. Sub-contractors didn't get along with Mario and Sons and did not follow through on fixes we requested (see pictures) Mario and Sons would have subs arrive without bringing materials. Materials would arrive late in the evening, and dropped in the middle of the hallways after my 93-year-old mother moved back in. Mario and Sons use ProSource of Elk Grove. Never ever hire anyone that uses THAT ProSource.. Demand they use the Chicago location. Elk Grove lost all of our choices; screwed up the re-order, didn't reorder all the items needed. Never called to double check, AND.. AND... delivered kitchen cabinets via truck without checking if anyone was onsite to unload the truck. We had to unload the truck (the client). Their designer blamed an outdated computer system for ordering the wrong size cabinets in the wrong configurations. REALLY, REALLY AWFUL. Is that enough? There is so much more. About the pictures, I could only add 10, and I have hundreds. First picture is June. All the rest begin in August. New details: The undermount kitchen sink and dishwasher were both improperly installed.

I originally found this company on Home Advisor as a reputable company. To make an extremely long story short, their workmanship is sub-par at best. Several deck boards had improper gaps or no gaps at all, some were not screwed down properly, and a couple were not even screwed down at all, leaving loose boards. After several weeks of my wife and I attempting to hire another contractor to give us metal handrails, the owner of AA, Mark, asked to back out of the job "because it was taking too long" and he needed payment to start another job. How is this our fault? I would have gladly paid up to get this finished properly and I told him that. We agreed to terminate the contract hoping that I could either fix these issues myself, or we could find someone else to do it, but now we have waited for months without much luck. Flashing was left exposed and the porch is far from complete. At $4,000, I was told this was such a DEAL. Give me a break! To top it all off, messes were left almost every day that they did show up, and concrete was dumped all over our existing sidewalk which has completely ruined the aesthetic and will need to be repaired. Mark did offer to come back and "fix" issues after the contract was terminated, but I declined. This whole experience left a bad taste in our mouths and we will not ever consider hiring him or any contractor that we do not receive references from again. I hope that our experience and review can help others.

He is the owner of the Barrington Fix-It Shoppe and is very personable and friendly, he allowed me to videotape his explanation of what he did in the repair, so I could later show it to my husband (some things too technical for me to remember). I would have liked to have a more permanent fix to the problem, but because we just moved in and the weather was getting colder, we had to take this temporary repair, he said it should last about 3-5 years and then we could get the entire 3-sections of patio windows remodeled completely.  I think that will be an expensive project, and we like them the way they are, but we were happy he was able to remove the wood rot, and he even explained how he jacked up the bottom support under the sill, too, so he seems to know his carpentry skills.  I thought the cost was a bit pricey for a little less than 4 hours work, but it needed to be done and we are happy we will not have to worry about any more moisture seeping into that problem area, at least for a few more years.  We just bought this house and moved in September 1st, so are trying to hurry and get the most needed repairs done before winter, so appreciated his help that way, too.

    Professional Home Improvement Inc

Mal, the owner, came to our home and talked to us about our project.  He showed us the materials his company used and explained why they used these particular products.  He was friendly, professional, and answered all our questions.  The quality of the work performed was excellent.  Mal visited our home to check out the work being performed a number of times.  The crew did an exceptional job removing and installing the materials, and cleaned up every day before leaving.  I can not say enough about one member of the crew, Chris, who worked tirelessly until the project was completed.  My husband and I highly recommend Professional Home Improvement, Inc.

    Hinwood Inc
Of the (2) closet doors, (1) was pretty straight forward, while the opening to the other closet had to be modified to accept the door.  Our house is an older home from the 40s, with several additions and some recent remodeling...We have issues such as sloping floors, tight spaces and existing duct-work wherever it's most inconvenient.  Lucy at Hinwood went over all of the details with me via email prior to their visit...I sent her pictures, and we discussed options for achieving the closet re-sizing.  The day of the project, Hinwood's guys were waiting outside and ready to go....The 2 carpenters (Dylan & Raf) got both doors hung that day, and made a huge effort to make sure that the door with the re-sized opening was going to work.....long story short, the track for the bifold could not be hung due to the existing issues with the closet....Dylan went out of his way to think of a solution to the problem and implemented it well.  I now have (2) fully functional closet doors! I couldn't have been happier with the communication and attention to detail given by Hinwood.  I will definitely be calling on them again in the future for any carpentry projects!

    Neighborhood Remodelers
Luke came out on time for the quote and explained the entire process and promptly provided a very detailed quote regarding labor and materials cost.  They also provided a very good list of suppliers for materials that allowed me a wide range of product to choose from and they arranged pick up and delivery of the products to my home.
Bill was my job manager and checked on the job regularly to make sure everything was being done right and that I was satisfied with everything and answered all my questions.  He always responded immediately to any of my phone call and emails.
I worked with Jill in their office for my cabinets and it was was very easy process.  The cabinet quality is beyond what we had expected and we are very pleased.
The workmen arrived everyday on time, cleaned up at the end of each day and kept my home clean.  I was home for the entire process and they allowed me to watch and took time to answered any questions I had. The bathroom was gutted to the stubs and completely rebuilt.  They updated plumbing, replaced rotted subfloor, put in a new lighting, tub, toliet and tile. Paul patiently worked with me as I hand picked all the travertine tile that was used in the shower and he carefully installed them so that the color variations blended well.
We are extremely pleased with the finish bathroom and received many complements from family and friends during the Holidays.  I will be using them again to do my downstairs bathroom & family room.

Steve was responsive and came out to give me an estimate quickly.  Work was done in a timely fashion.  No mess left when they were done.  Four weeks after the job was finished 2 shutters came down.  The old anchors came out of the brick.  Steve replaced the 2 shutters and checked that the remaining shutters were secure.  No hassle.  Felt I got what I wanted done at a fair price.  Would be very comfortable recommending them to a friend and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

    iBuild Inc
I contacted I build for a estimate along with a few other local contractors. We were looking to complete a full remodel to our bathroom and change our tub to a walk in shower with a bench seat. Out of the four companies that we contacted I build was most responsive to our questions and provided some great design concepts as well as having competitive pricing. We choose to hire Ibuild and worked with the salesman/project manager named Tony who worked with us from start to finish. They did a great job and were so clean I could barley tell that someone was even working in my home. The project came in right on time as they had told me during my initial estimate, they completed my project in just under two weeks. They made the purchasing of all the finish work so easy since they have access to all of the key components that we needed to complete our project. One great thing about ibuild is that they are a reseller of cabinets so I purchased directly through them which save me time and money having to work with someone else on design and pricing. I would recommend I build for any major renovations as I'm sure they will take as much care and pride on your job as they did mine. Thank you ibuild for giving us the bathroom we were looking for!
