    COMMUNITY ASPHALT PAVING
I contacted Community Asphalt in late May '18 and Glenn came out to look at the driveway the same week. I received a written estimate within a few days. CAP's quote was in-line with several others I had and was very concise and inclusive. Glenn addressed all my questions and concerns and we scheduled the install for this past week. George and the CAP team arrived at 7:45A and were very pleasant. They removed, excavated and installed the asphalt driveway in half a day and left the job site very neat. They matched my brick walkway to the drive perfectly and the driveway looks great. Glenn left me with a "do and don't" list before leaving. I would recommend them to anyone.

. Two men pulled up early that morning and I waved that I was home.  I watched from the front window and recall mentally noting  how fast they were working.  From a distance I saw them pouring material into what I assumed were the cracks. I was surprised at how fast they worked and it was done in such a short time!  I did not see them leave because when I returned to the window, they were gone. The next day I went out to take a look at the work performed.  They missed the cracks and poured around them!  It was obvious that these men needed supervision and probably were 'on the clock' getting the job completed. Whatever they did or did not do, I could not ever recommend this to anyone I know.  I have had this driveway done many times in the past, so I do have comparisons.  I usually like to ignore negative experiences, but needed to comment on this expense.

It went very well.  I initially purchased a "Deal" and contacted the provider since my driveway was larger than the allotted size.  After it was estimated, I agreed to the additional cost and the service was scheduled for the week of July 6th.  I received a call on Tuesday that work was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.  As I returned from work, the crew was just arriving and we walked over the driveway in case there were any questions since the driveway is a bit creative in the backyard.   All was good and work was begun.  Since my driveway was in good condition (just pretty gray) the crew cleaned and hand brush applied the sealcoating.  They  worked professionally and competently with the sealcoating being done in timely fashion.  All edges were neat and no splashes on the house siding and the driveway looks great - I will contact them for future sealcoating.  Very happy with their work!

    Big Joe's Sealcoating
They came out and did the work, and never took my money. After they were done with the job I noticed that the small cracks needed to be fixed before the moisture gets in there.

This is an update: The contractor came back and put a 2nd seal coating that sealed the cracks that needed to be filled.  This satisfies me.

    Sandmans Paving & Concrete
Contacted Sandman's via email, and they were quick with responses. Several questions asked, always replied to, we were looking for a quote for rental property we own. As it is somewhat of a distance away from me, Tom even offered to go for the permits from the city the work was to be completed in! We are extremely pleased with the work that was completed.

    BARRECA BLACKTOP SEALCOATING INC
We have used this company before and were happy with their work and the price was right on;so we decided to cal them again. We had a set appointment but when the crew came to do the seal coating it was about to storm outside and was misting rain. We were surprised that the crew wanted to continue even if it stormed out. My husband had to talk to the crew and call the owner to re-schedule. Maybe it's okay to seal coat with the rain coming down, but I don't think so! Luckily we were home to stop the work crew and re-schedule the job. The crew came out a few days later and they did a great job. The driveway looks great and we will be using them again in the future.

    COMMUNITY ASPHALT PAVING
I could no longer ignore the drainage problem I had in my garage and the sad state of the driveway. The prior owners of the property had built an asphalt dam across the front of the garage so that water would not leak into it as the driveway slightly slopes downward towards the garage. I could also count on water pooling on at least a third of the garage floor because the water had nowhere to go. This problem also occurred to a lesser extent alongside my house as the driveway had barely no pitch (if any at all) and water did not run off easily. I believe this was the reason my family room seemed damp and was harder to heat than the rest of the house. After talking to a few other contractors, I chose Glenn Messmer and Community Asphalt to do the job. Glenn arranged for a concrete craftsman to cut a concrete trench drain in front of the garage. Then Glenn showed up with his crew bright and early about two weeks later (allowing for the concrete to cure) to replace my 100' driveway that ranged in width from 20' in front of the house for almost 50'; 10' alongside the house for 45'; and a bit of a puzzle in the back (to mesh with the cement patio) from 17' wide to back to 20' wide. Whew! Before I knew it, the original shabby asphalt driveway was history. The area alongside my house was excavated and the grade lowered to create the pitch to allow water to drain away from my house. A 6" limestone base was installed in the excavated area and stone as needed for fine grading. After all stone materials were added to the driveway in preparation to be paved, the area was rolled to compaction. Once Glenn and his crew were satisfied with the quality of the compacted surface; the town inspector gave his go ahead; and the curb cutter meshed the 20' wide driveway with the street - 2 1/2" of surface mix asphalt was installed. Clean-up by Glenn and his crew followed and WOW!, the results were spectacular. In ONE day, Community Asphalt gave my house an amazing facelift with the great driveway they created. Many neighbors stopped by to admire the work as did people driving by - it was just great! It is even a pleasure to shovel snow from the driveway because it has a flat, smooth surface. I feel that the craftsmen/tradesmen associated with Community Asphalt did a tremendous job and the results confirm their commitment to quality!

The owner and his workers were in the process of finishing the job when I returned home. The owner, Mr. Smith called me over and told me there had been a little accident, that they had hit the side of my garage with some type of steamroller type equipment. There clearly was damage to the front of the garage. Mr. Smith informed me that there was probably $300-$400 worth of damage to the garage, BUT the paving job had been a little more extensive than he originally estimated, and he just so happened to have put in about $400 worth of extra work on the job, so we would be calling the whole thing equal. I had an estimate for $3,000. The owner, Mr. Smith has years of experience at bidding jobs. I went into the house and called my husband (who is in Iraq) and a contractor I know. Both told me to withhold the amount of damage on the house, and that Mr. Smith could not charge me the $400 overbid he came up with after he put that amount of damage on the house. When I went out to tell him that I was withholding that amount, he told me that "we were not going to do it that way." He insisted that I pay him the full $3,000, and that only if the damage on the garage went over $400 could I contact him. He would then contact his insurance company to pay anything additional. I was intimidated by him and ended up paying him the complete amount. I have still have very visible damage to my house that can clearly be seen from the street. They left me to deal with the mess, get bids, hire it to be repaired etc. I believe anyone using this company should be warned that they are unethical. I find it strange after they did $400 damage to my house, the bill suddenly when up $400 even though I had a contract with not so much as a phone call. Mr. Smith told me that if I had more closely read my contract that I would have seen that there is a clause in the contract that he can do exactly what he did. A CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY IS NOT A CONTRACT. Anyone thinking about using this company should be aware of that. After my new driveway was done, I notiiced that EVERY TIME it rains, there are huge puddles where water stands on the driveway. This is to POOR WORK by Noble Paving. This looks terrible, and will pose a danger when winter comes. I looked at all my neighbors asphalt driveways and not even the old driveways have this problem. This was not noticeable on the day they did the driveway because it did not rain. However, the first time it rained, it was apparent how lumpy and uneven the driveway was done. If anyone would like to see an example of this poor work, please email me and come by my house when it rains. I will be glad to show you.

Amazingly fast! Richard Smith, the owner, came to offer a bid on the day I called to inquire, he came to take a deposit check the following week, when I approved the bid, and did the work the following week on the day and at the time he said he would. The entire transaction was completer within two weeks. Though his crew was obviously experienced, Mr. Smith was there all day and did some of the delicate work himself.
