    SCHNEIDER PAINTING CO
Bob and his crew are great painters. One warning though if you attempt to reach them by phone it will take some time. Our preferred method of communication with them was email. Bob has a fantastic sense of rooms and where colors should break to give the greatest effect. As I said above we have used him three times and will use him again.

Final Touch Painting & Wall coverings
I contracted with Final Touch Painting and Wall Covering , owned by Jim Modlin to paint the interior of my house. He required a 50 % downpayment of $2650.00 and proceeded to paint our house. After three weeks we had two small rooms painted, our house is all torn up and the work that was done was mediocre at best. This morning July 30th, Jim Modlin showed up and promised that the job would be completed by August 11. I had to leave for a short time and when I came back he had loaded up all his ladders, drop cloths, paint brushes and left the job. He will not answer either of the phone numbers that we have for him. BEWARE of this man He claims to have a Christian Testimony but behaves like a thief and a liar. His work is substandard and you can't believe anything he tells you.

    Off The Wall LLC
Sharon Frailey did a great job for us, working efficiently and quickly. She and her son did a great job preparing the walls for painting. They cleaned up all the mess and left the area as clean as possible. We had 5 large rooms and 3 bathrooms of wallpaper to be removed. The cost was very reasonable for all the work that she did. She is trustworthy and I would recommend her to anyone needing wallpaper removed.

    Alliance Contracting Solutions
All of the workers were polite and cooperative in planning and executing our project. Their finished work is excellent. John Peters was there to answer questions and personally supervise their work. We are very satisfied with Alliance Contracting and highly recommend them. There are a few small touch ups that they promised they would return to finish. We are just waiting for that to be done - but they are very busy so we hope it will be finished soon.

    Kimberlin Construction Co Inc
Kimberlin Construction was one of five contractors to bid on this job.  The owner, Gary, was the only one that had suggestions on how to get the product we wanted without spending excessive amounts of money.  His responsiveness was always prompt and communication was consistently open and professional.  He has a regular crew of workers that were a joy to work with.  They were courteous, friendly, knew their business, and got right to it.  The work site was left very clean at the end of each day and all materials were removed from the site immediately.  This was a very positive experience, and I would not hesitate to hire Gary and crew for any upcoming work at my residence.
Thank you Gary, it was a pleasure doing business with you and your crew.

    Mr. Handyman Metro East

The contractor was very friendly, prompt, and provided a very professional looking estimate, prepared just as I had requested, which was to separate the demo work from the repair/reinstallation work. Problem was, their quote was VERY expensive. They quoted a combined figure of $2183. I was very surprised. I ultimately found a local handyman closer to home that did the entire job, all by himself, for $550. I was very happy with the local handyman vice Bob Langreder. The numbers speak for themselves.

I can?t say anything about this company in terms of quality of work since I never hired them. All I?d recommend is that you get competing price quotes before you decide to do work with Mr. Handymen. You might come out like I did.

    Victor Shade Company
Everything went well until delivery and installation of the custom shade. The breakfast room door is recessed with 5 inches of wood on the sides.  After installation, the shade head rail stuck out too far from the door when we tried to fully open the door.  We decided to try out the shade and see if we could live with the shortened access  space of about 12 inches.  After less than a day I called and asked if there were any other options with a smaller  head rail so we could open the door wider and not cause damage to the shade, the door and the wood.  The company was very accomodating and  did research other options but none of the options worked for me since they still  impede the opening of our door.  I love Hunter Douglas shades.  I just cant use this one since it impedes opening of my door.  So, I have purchased a great product, but cannot use it.

    Victor Shade Company
So I take off an entire afternoon to meet with Scott Victor, the owner. We are building a brand new, custom built 5,000+ sq. ft. home and wanted to get the best window treatments possible for our beautiful new home. I called Monday, April 21st and asked for an appointment the next day, since I was going to be at the house most of the day meeting with other poeple. They can't do it on such short notice, which is totally understandable. So, we schedule an appointment with Scott for 8 days later, the 29th.
I am at the house 15 minutes early, just in case he needs directions, since it is a brand new subdivision and the street doesn't show up on some gps's.
It's now 20 minutes after our scheduled time, and I'm starting to wonder. They have had great reviews on Angie's List, so I give them the benefit of the doubt, and call. A Rachel answers the phone and I explain that I've been waiting 20 minutes past our scheduled appointment time with Scott. She asks me to hold. She comes back and says that she is "going to research this" and get back to me in 5 minutes, or less. She calls me back 5 minutes later (and it is now 30 minutes past the scheduled time) and says there has been a misunderstanding and she would like to reschedule. She said she remembers setting the appointment with me and she gave the appointment sheet to Scott, but something must have happened.
Well, my time is just as valuable as Mr. Victor's and when they try to reschedule, I tell them no thank you, as we already have 3 bids.
A few minutes later I call back to let them know that I got their name from Angie's List and am very disappointed. I may have even been persuaded to go ahead and give them another chance. However, a David Victor answers the phone and I ask who he is. He tells me his name. I assume it's the owner, so I ask if he is the owner. "NO!" OK. well you are obviously someone due to your last name. So I try to explain to him that I was calling to express my disappointment and he just says "here's Rachel." He doesn't even give me a second to hear what I have to say.
I ask Rachel who he is. He is Scott Victor's uncle, and the FORMER OWNER. Well, isn't that interesting? The FORMER owner doesn't even care about customer service.
Then, as I'm trying to tell Rachel that I got their name off angle's list and about my disappointment, Rachel starts arguing with me and interrupting me.
POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE all around. Especially after they were a no call and no show.
If your time is valuable to you, I suggest you stay away from this company.

    Martin Building & Home Solutions
The first project that we hired Martin Building and Home Solutions to do was the fireplace stack. After years of damage and leaking through the fireplace, it was time to replace. From matching 30 year old brick to clean up, we were extremely impressed and satisfied. As we decided to update the interior of the house, there was one choice to make for the job. Owner Todd Martin made everything smooth and as least stressful as possible. We started with carpeting three bedrooms, including new baseboards. Great lengths were taken to remedy creaks in the flooring before the carpet was installed and the installers were prompt and professional. Then we began a master bathroom remodel including tile floor, vanity, installation of a new medicine cabinet mirror, toilet leak, replacing all wall plumbing and fixtures in shower/tub surround and replacement of exhaust fan. They also replaced all wall plumbing and fixtures in the main bathroom. The timeframe was amazing. So were the details. While this work was occurring, our mailbox was vandalized. Within 24 hours, Todd replaced it with a great looking mailbox and post that the neighbors have all complimented. Of all of this work, we felt comfortable discussing options and special circumstances that arose. It is very clear that Todd takes pride in the job that he does as well as the people he trusts to hire. I continue to make a list for more projects I would like for them to do for us. VERY happy with results- I would recommend Martin Building and Home Solutions ten times over!

    Striking Renovations
We have nothing but great things to say about working with this company. While they are small, they certainly deliver like a big company in terms of quality and responsiveness. John is their business guy, and he met us more than once to scope our job and discuss the details. We found SR on Angie's List, and they were very highly rated. John is good rep to bring in business; he listens and offers suggestions, but is not pushy. In other words, he does not oversell what they do. I liked that. Once we decided to go with SR, we inked the contract after working closely with John on what SR would provide and what we would provide in terms of materiel, which was just about everything. SR bought very little for our project, which is what I preferred. We also did a  good portion of our demolition, which was not an issue with SR.
Brad led the remodel effort, working primarily with Ryan. Brad has 20+ years in the business and it shows in the type of things he can do, and the quality that's delivered. We trusted Brad and Ryan all the way and they were very easy to work with on a daily basis. Many times we'd keep in touch via email with Brad, sometimes as early as 4AM since I tend to rise early. I would say our job was one of, if not their largest remodel, job and it required some complex work, especially on wall support (we expanded an opening in our wall) which required a support beam to added.  Brad and Ryan did all of this with no issues, and were enormously versatile in what they could do. The only hiccup we really had in the project was our ceiling, which we did replace. Once the ceiling put in and painted, it cracked in few places and had to repaired again, and repainted again. Came out the second time looking just fine, as Brad assured me it would. While this did set us back a bit, it all worked out fine.
Given all the work, we are thrilled with the outcome. Cabinets, counter tops, LOTS of flooring, new appliances, a brick fireplace, wall expansion, new ceiling, etc...most of the main floor got a major face lift. Our neighbors and my family saw the final product and were stunned. What more can you say. These guys know what they're doing and they're great to work with.
We are very pleased with Striking and will go back to them  again if we do more work. For our first ever remodeling project, this one was super successful. We highly recommend them as a company you can trust and will be very happy with their work.
