We started renovating our 3 flat but did not want to give the entire project to a general contractor, as we wanted to maintain control over hiring of various subcontractors, selection of finishes and key materials, and overseeing day-to-day progress and quality. But we also needed someone to help push the project forward, coordinate activities, and advise us on an ongoing basis. Tomasz, the owner of United Colors Painting and Remodeling, became that person. The specific work he and his crew performed (see the long list under Work Description) was of excellent quality. Tomasz himself did all the carpentry and tile work. He is very exacting , thinks through the details and implications, presents options and looks for creative yet practical solutions when issues arise. We are very happy with the results of his and his team’s work. We’re also happy that we could bounce ideas off of him—he has great experience as well as good taste. Tomasz also hired the floor restoration/refinishing crew for our original maple floors; they were also very competent and attentive to detail—these guys know floors. He also recommended some other professionals and businesses that were relatively inexpensive and worked out well for us (kitchen cabinets reseller, garbage disposal, etc.). Overall, we got great service and terrific value from our experience with United Colors. Short of a few loose ends, we’re done! Tomasz was central to our ability to complete this within our budget yet with high quality. We won’t hesitate to hire him again.
