    Better Built Garages
Fantastic! Each step followed immediately after the first. Our salesman, Todd, was wonderful at explaining the process, the tear down went smoothly, the building crew was amazing, the electrician did a great job. Only complaint was the attitude of the concrete guy, Terry from T & G Concrete. The concrete turned out fine, but he spent so much time verbally berating his guys, loudly, that I had to go out and tell him to stop or take it off my property. Very unprofessional! Aside from him, the rest of the process was a good experience and we are pleased with the outcome.

    Precision Door Service
Great experience.  From setting up (and rescheduling) the appointment--to executing the service, everyone at Precision was very professional and accommodating.  As I expected, the tech later presented me with a preventative maintenance package--but he put absolutely no pressure on me to buy it!!  He gave me a good heads up--not only on what he did, but he pointed out some other things (e.g. rust at the base of the cables) to watch out for.  I would definitely use Precision in the future for my garage door needs.

    George's Garages & Doors Inc
SALES: My sales person was at my house at the day and time I requested simply because I advised I had a tight schedule. She was on time to the minute of the appointment and took her own measurements and had a quote to me for the new garage within 15 minutes of being at my house. So sales personnel from George's are responsive, punctual, and have authority to make the sale (versus having to wait go through several people up the companies chain for prices and/or change orders). WORK: Most importantly, the quality of work by George's is top notch. Everything was built per specifications with no call back or punch list items needed. Their workers were respectful and courteous and prompt. And, after every stage of the build (demo, concrete, carpentry, electrical) the area was clean spotless. I would come home and not find a piece of debris anywhere on my property. That made the process that much nicer for my neighbors (who would not have to look at construction debris) and for me and my two small kids for safety hazards. And again, though, superb quality work. Like my garage came out of a show room. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Every single question I had was responded to immediately. Every change order I requested (I changed garage doors mid-process) came with zero push back from George's and a happy "no problem" attitude. RESPONSIVENESS: I am involved in the construction field as it relates to litigation. So I am accustomed to the good, bad, and ugly in the trades. One of the biggest issues with contractors is responsiveness. Some will go 24, 48 hours for a call back, or some take multiple calls before they call you back, and some never do! In this bad economy, if you are paying for a contractor to perform work (my money does not grow on trees--does yours?), I think you should be treated appreciately and with the highest service. This is not an issue with George's. I do not think that in the multiple times I have contacted George's through this process, I do not think 60 minutes would go by before I got a call back with an answer. Either Nancy from the office or my sales person always immediately returned my call with substantive information. And to show how difficult I am and how they accommodated me, I got to the point where I would text them and I would still get a prompt response! OVERALL: Their pricing is right on compared to my other quotes. But you will really get the service and quality, and I think that is what it is all about. I have zero connections with this company, never used them before, never dealt with them before, and so my thoughts are truly based on the work performed--period. No bias. They are a great crew and take care of their customers. And, they are family owned so how great is that? PS: I put the cost of the job was $1.00 simply because I do not think it is anyone's business how much I paid. :) [It's NOT that they built the garage for free].

    AR-BE Garage Doors
Their service was super fast. AR-BE came out for an estimate within an hour of being called. Their representative was very friendly and professional. I was quite surprised to see that the cost was only $250.00 more than I paid for the 28 year old door it replaced. AR-BE scheduled the work for the next day, the workmen arrived on time and had the job completed in 2 hours. The only negative was that I had to remind the workmen to remove an old non-functional door opener that the sales rep promised would be removed.

The demolition went fine. The carpenters came over to the house to put the garage up. They put up three walls where the garage door should go, but then said they could not continue if they did not move the electrical lines. The carpenter can t go any further because of the line. So now I have all the materials in my front yard getting ruined because of this problem. From there, we had to wait approx 3 weeks for another company to move the electrical line. The contractor had told me they would work around the line, they would go ahead and would put up the garage, and then the other company would be able to come out and move the line, at no extra charge. After 3 weeks of storms and the materials being out in the elements, the lumber was warped and the materials were basically ruined. When construction started again, they said they would replace the damaged lumber. I had to have them come out and point out everything that was ruined. The entire front of the garage had to be replaced, in addition to all of the cross beams in the ceiling. Because they did not clean up when they left, all of the sawdust left behind left a stain on my garage floor which I have been unable to remove. In their opinion, the garage was completed at that point. The drywall they had put up was very cracked and warped. All of my electrical outlets were broken. I also had crossbeam supports that literally fell out after they had left. At that point, I called them back and the carpenter came back to repair all of these problems. He did the best that he could, but at that point the materials were so exposed to the elements, he was basically working with garbage. At this point in time, I am waiting to have my floor sealed. I received a phone call on Monday to make the appointment. I called back and spoke with a person named Joe who told me that they had never called me. I called my sales rep on Tuesday morning on her cell phone and I still have not received a phone call back. Now I am stuck with a garage with warped drywall, the carpentry is completely sub-par and on top of that my brand new concrete foundation is cracking. The contractor has threatened me with a slander lawsuit. The contractor has threatened me with a slander lawsuit. I'm posting four pictures to hopefully get my point across that the work they did was sub-par. Picture one - Warped wood from water damage as the site was left uncovered during storms. Picture two - This is how my construction site was left for three plus weeks. The tarps that are noticeable in this photo were provided by me (and I put them up). Everything else was left uncovered. Picture three - Drywall. Job said completed. The other three outlets look the same. Picture four - Damaged drywall installed - again, the job was said completed by the contractor. This is the "new" construction I paid for.
