ABerg Roofing and Home ImprovementsHad a full roof replacement. It had to be rescheduled a few times but it got done before the cold of winter set in. Appears to be good work (only time will tell), certainly looks fantastic. I still gave an A but one not so perfect aspect was the clean up. A huge mess was left in my back yard on day one so we couldn't let my dog out, honestly that wasn't the real issue as they were short days but even after the cleanup they were nails and smaller debris everywhere. They were not the cheapest but they were local (Downers Grove) and Bob was great to deal with. Cost $16,400.- Jeffrey R.

AAce Handyman Services ChicagolandVery fast, very prompt, and much less expensive than I expected. Furring boards over garage door, behind siding, had rotted due to unsealed installation. In an afternoon, everything replaced and sealed. Quick, prompt, courteous, and inexpensive. Definitely will hire again.- Steve M.

ABudget Right HandymanMy technician, Elvis, did an outstanding job with a high degree of professionalism and skill. He was great at talking through the scope of work, providing updates, and offering beneficial consultation. Elvis was very respectful in the way he approached conversations and in his attentiveness to ensuring the areas of my home where the work was being performed were protected and cleaned/organized during and upon job completion. I am truly amazed at all he accomplished on my very long 'list' and appreciative that he did the work with a level of detail and care as he would if it were his own home. That is really hard to find. I have been a customer of Budget Right for many years. I also greatly appreciate the responsiveness, flexibility and focus on customer satisfaction consistently provided by the staff. The lower rating on Price is due to the increases over time and varied work efficiency to complete the job across technicians. As a matter of practice, the office will match their best technician to the scope of work, but if you can't wait for that appointment date, you may get someone who isn't as experienced. The other way to save is to pre-purchase materials needed, to avoid the technician having to spend time at Home Depot or elsewhere. Budget Right is my go-to for jobs big and small for my home and rental property. I highly recommend them.- EILEEN B.

ADESIGNfirst Builders LLCWe are very pleased with the result of our remodel. We wanted a complete gut/renovation and this was our first major renovation, so we were of course concerned about cost and time--and not knowing really what questions to ask. DesignFirst was a great partner through the project. Their designers came up with a thoughtful design, but were also happy to tweak things that we wanted to change. Their customer portal was modern and allowed us to review all the choices we had made, payment milestones and records, etc. They also have a nice showroom and a good selection of styles and materials for things like cabinet styles/hardware and stone materials. For some small items like cabinet handles/pulls, we were able to find exactly what we wanted through a third-party and it was no problem at all for us to buy there and have them install it. It was nice to find a company that was ok with us buying some items and not forcing us to use all of their vendors. The project manager was always very responsive to any questions as the project went on. We were a bit unlucky in our timing as the Covid lockdown hit our project right in the middle. But the GC and contractors were always respectful and had masks when on the property. And somewhat surprisingly our timeline was not really impacted because of the lockdown, though it was obvious that the company and contractors were having to jump through extra hoops to get things done on time. One thing that was key to our project was the relationship that the company and its lead contractors seemed to have with the city inspectors. Their contractors were obviously known for working to code and making any changes the inspectors asked for correctly. Our inspections went smoothly, and this is one of those areas where "you get what you pay for". I think we paid a fair price and got great work in return.- Todd S.

DI had very good experience with One Stop Pros a few years ago when I had a frozen water pipe so when I recently began having trouble with some toilets and a bathroom faucet, I called them again. I could have called a handyman for this work but I thought there might have been a bigger problem and wanted it done right. They sent someone out within a week and the guy told me I needed to replace the toilets and faucet. He gave me a quote for $1,025 to replace three toilets and two bathroom faucets. I scheduled the work for a few weeks later. When he was about to install the last toilet, he told me he just received a call from his office and would need to come back to install the faucets another day because he had to go to another customer who had a flooded basement. He said he would be back three days later to install my faucets. While inconvenient for me, I understood that the other job was an emergency. When he never returned as promised, I emailed the company to express my displeasure and to let them know I would find someone else to install the faucets. I immediately received an email with an apology and a promise to call me the next morning to arrange a time that week. I received a call the next morning and we set a new appointment for two days later. Again, no one showed up or called. I wouldn’t trust this company again.

AThe job was to inspect the exterior of the house, caulk, seal and repair brick, windows, mortar etc. on 4 sides of a 4 story building. Tony and his team started quick and finished even faster. Armour took the time to review my concerns, inspected my homes exterior, and then laid out the options they felt they could accomplish to spec. It was exactly what I asked for, no upsell, no BS. The quality of the work exceed my expectations. Not only did the team meet the contract requirements, they fixed issues they found on their own, at their expense, and educated me on what to watch out for in the future. I would not hesitate to use or recommend Armour for masonry/exterior work at all. In fact, I'm mostly likely going to be hiring them again for some new projects that I have this summer while we have some good weather again!

AIt was absolutely perfect. They were on time. They kept me notified about what they were doing and how they were doing it. The communication was wonderful. The people were great. There was an issue with the shower door and the next day they came back with the shower people. I did not have any trouble. They were outstanding. They did everything we asked.
