Concrete Driveway Installation reviews in Bloomington

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Our stoop and driveway were repaired in October of 2014. We noticed some chipping and faults in the new concrete. I contacted Paul via Angie's list and was called immediately by Paul.

He had suspected certain problems with the concrete mixture used in the fall, and had already viewed the problem prior to me contacting him.

Although Paul and his team were very busy due to the bad weather, he arrived with his crew and immediately repaired the entire surface.. Wow what a response. Great job Paul and superior customer service. Zero cost for the repair!

  • It went perfect. They were very kind, professional. They answered any questions I had on the spot. The owner went out of his way to make sure the service was exceptional. I was worried about flowers close to the driveway, but they were very careful. They did trample through some mulch, but they replaced it without me needing to say anything.

  • .They are the ones who actually installed the asphalt driveway three years ago. They did a good job. They had a full crew and completed in a reasonable time.
The year later they stopped by and asked if I wanted them to seal the driveway. They quoted a price and I said "no not now".
This year they came to my house again. I was not here.  My wife said to go ahead and do it. This was fine with me except the price was to much.  They offered to do it for me last year for almost half what they charged her.  We don't have an extremely long section of driveway but they charged her $550.00 dollars and she said they were here for about an hour.  The receipt was on the back of a business card. The then ran to the bank and cashed the check before they left Bloomington and went back to where they work from.
They took advantage of and overcharged us. This and running to the bank the same day p***** me off.

  • Work was done professionally. the driveway looks very good. The crew edged the drive making it look very good. Work took about 4 days with a rain delay. I had to wait 4 weeks before using the driveway based upon Paul's recommendation. They also added soil and reseeded.

  • Because the work involved re-doing the walkways for both house entrances, the work was done in two sections to allow one entrance to be workable (have a wheelchair family member needing to go to treatments 3 x a week) while other half was being worked on.  First half went fast, no problems.  Second half was delayed by unknown cabling at end of driveway (none of the utility people knew who it belong to) and weather but as soon as we got the needed "dry days", they finished it up fast.  The new drive-way looks great, our dogs love their new patio, and the rain water is finally draining AWAY from the house instead of into the foundations.

  • Wonderful. Paul and his crew were the hardest working group of contractors I have seen. They moved with perfect timing and professionalism that is not always seen these days. They arrived on time and began the removal of the old concrete immediatly..The crew worked as a team and were very organized. Any situations that needed discussion, were done among the fellow co-workers untill the decision was reached as a group to solve the issue. Paul was on hand throughout most of the construction to ensure that everydone was done for customer satisfaction.Although the weather was harsh that day, wind and rain, his crew overcame these problems using plastic to cover the work area to make sure the weather would not cause issues with the pouring and smoothing of the concrete.
The construction began on Wednesday, Paul stopped by on Thursday to explain the process of the curing and when we could walk or drive our car on the new concrete.
He also explained the clean up process that would begin on Friday. The crew fixed the yard next to the new concrete and sowed grass seed with the new dirt installed. They also arranged the landscape rocks that had been disturbed. When they were finished everything looked like it had before the construction began, actually it was better with new stoop and pad!
I would reccomend Williamson Concrete to any homeowner who may want to beautify and increase the value of their home.
    Good job Paul.

  • Started at 7AM. to remove old concrete. Set up wood forms. By 9AM were pouring first new concrete. Very organized and hard working young men. The temperature outside was in the 90's that day. Excellent job was completed. There were 6 workers all day until the last hour when 2 workers finished the last details at 2:30PM.

  • Prior to this job, I had never hired a general contractor to work on my home or property. I had either done the work myself or hired sub-contractors to do work beyond my abilities (ie ? masonry). I took time in finding someone I thought I could trust and who seemed truly interested in the job. I signed a contract with Renew Concepts in late July. Initially, Mark planned to complete the job by the first week in September. Work did not begin until the second week in August, but this was expected.

Mark started with tree removal and the removal truck promptly broke down. It sat in my yard with my back fence removed for about 10 days with no progress made on any of the work. I believe the tree work was finished at the end of August.

Driveway and yard excavation was next and this took little time. Unfortunately, weeks passed before any concrete was poured. The garage masonry, dry well, and underground electrical work was done during this time. The excavation, electrical, and well work seemed well-done but constituted only a few days worth of work during the weeks that passed.

The patio and drive were poured in two parts. When the drive was poured, no work was performed during the initial curing process. After 2 weeks (I think) subcontractors came in to complete the garage roof and construction for the garage door.

In October, the yard was then graded and the work was more or less done in the yard except for the clean-up and replaced fencing. Mark began construction of the composite deck and completed the relief cuts for the concrete and the drains for the downspouts. This took weeks.

In early November, Mark completed the new fencing at the back of the yard and between the garage and house. The deck was also completed. Final clean-up was done in mid-November.

All this work was of good quality and met or exceeded my expectations. Mark uses quality materials and is careful about his work and the work of his sub-contractors. The main issue, obviously, is that this job took so long to complete. My first payment was in late July and the final payment was Nov. 30. Mechanical breakdowns, illness, and injuries kept Mark from being able to stay on top of the job and time just kept passing by.

I am a patient person in general, but the passage of time wore on my family and me. Frankly, except for the excavation and concrete, I could have done all of the work in the same time frame for less money. Mark did his best to make-up for the delay. He is a personable and intelligent business owner, but seemed to lack the resources to find solutions to the delays. He was unable to find another contractor to fill in when he was incapacitated and had a limited number of employees that he could trust to do the work to his satisfaction.  Note: when Mark came by recently to fix a problem with the deck, he mentioned that he is looking for a manager. This may solve delay problems.

There are other lesser issues with the work, such as multiple rebuilds for parts of the deck, but these were all solved quickly and to my satisfaction. The cost of the work was reasonable and Renew Concepts goes out of its way to recycle or reuse material, making the job a bit more environmentally sound. Mark was readily available by phone and tried to keep me up-to-date regarding delays and other changes. Even though the work took far too long, I never felt as if I were being scammed or deceived in any way.

I checked that I would not hire this contractor again; yet, the work was good enough that I may be persuaded to hire them again on a small job to give the company a chance to redeem itself.
