    Had first round of alterations done at a different provider - which were terrible.  Thought the dress might be ruined.

    The bridal shop was going to charge $85 for each dress even before the alterations were added to it!  So we found this shop.

    It went great!  We came to him with little time before the wedding, as the dresses were not ready for pickup until then.  My 3 daughters went in and had some fitting to do. I went in to get my dress shortened and the strap tightened.  He did a wonderful job! The dresses all looked great! I have recommended him often since that time.

    My daughter is getting married next year, so we will be taking our dresses to him again for alterations.  I also will be taking the first dress back to him to see if it can be shortened and a jacket made for use to other weddings.  I'll let you know how it goes  . .

    The bridal shop charged a flat $90/dress even before they added the alterations onto each dress. We decided to find our own alteration shop. We checked out several Angie's List vendors and decided on Gabrielli after my daughters decided that, all other factors being equal, he was the most upbeat and cheerful of all of them.



    All dresses needed to be shortened at around $50 each. Robert stresses that you should wear your shoes and undergarments at the fitting. Listen to him. He knows what he's talking about. The 3 bridesmaid dresses also needed some other altering. He did this perfectly, even though the dresses had a lot of gathers throughout the middle. He performed the alterations in a fairly short period of time, since one of the girls travelled a lot and could not get in any sooner. It took him about a week after the last fitting to get the dresses finished. I understand why he waited until they were all in to begin working on them. He got them to us in time, though we did not try them on at the shop before picking them up. As I mentioned, it was difficult to get every one there due to varying schedules, so we picked them all up at once without a final fitting. The bridesmaid dresses came from the bridal shop very wrinkled, and he steamed out all the wrinkles after the alterations. This is an additional charge ($15 each), but still less expensive than going to the cleaners. The fabric was unusual, and I didn't want to chance ruining the dresses by pressing it at home. Besides, the gathers would have looked awful. They fit perfectly, and the dresses looked amazing.



    At the end, he adjusted the straps and pressed the Mother of the Groom dress gratis, because these things needed to be done, and we had 4 dresses at the same time.

    If you use him, give him your input, but then take his advice if he offers any. He is not only professional in his work, but very nice to work with as well. We are all discussing whether we want to cut our dresses to street length. If we do, we will go back to Robert for shortening.

    Come to find out this woman is five months behind in her rent. She has eighteen complaints filed against her with the Better Business Bureau and she has an "F" rating with them. The shopping village where she operates has known about her for four years at least that I know of. They are really doing nothing. I put some pressure on them to get her evicted from the shopping center in Bloomingdale. Some instances she doesn't deliver the job at all. Other instances, she delivers the job 10-12 months later and it is totally inferior workmanship. She lies to her clients, like the people who sell to her are in Italy. She doesn't return phone calls once she gets people's cash. She is a con artist. She has a daughter in law working in the store, if you are lucky to find it ever open. She pretends she is nothing but a keeper of the store but she is a part of the con.

    Right after she left my home, I felt that I had been lied to. I called the store and told them I felt pressured. While she was here, a red flag went up. My painter happened to be here and said the price was totally wrong. She called me back and said she had already cashed my check within about twenty minutes of leaving my home. She reassured me and convinced me that I shouldn't worry, her work was far superior to anyone else's that I would be satisfied. She was going to charge me a total of $1400.00 for the work for three cornices. She lied about how much yardage was available in the warehouse. I called another decorator who said he would only charge me $900.00 for it and that there were 50 yards of material in the warehouse. I called her a couple of days later, she went absolutely ballistic on the phone. I told her she was totally insane and she admitted it. That's when I called the Village to complain. I called the Mayor and a detective called me back, that's how I knew there was a history with her. The police have paid a visit to her since everything has been going on.

    I refer you to the Better Business site, and you will see 18 complaints filed against the owner and her business.  Her business has an "F" rating.
