Hospital Care reviews in Bartlett

    Edward Hines Jr VA Hospital
I have had nothing but pleasant experiences at the VA, Hines, VA. I  get a lot of services out of the VA. My opinion of Hines, VA is excellent. I have heard of other veterans who have had, but I don't know how much of that is them or how much of that is Hines, VA. I have not had a bad experience. I must explain something about that, when I got out of the services in 71, I actually went down to Hines and I got treated like a piece of garbage. I developed PTSD, I had PTSD but I didn't know how severe it was. The second time, it is totally changed. They are very veteran oriented towards. There is just an awful lot of us that go down there for various things. It is quite a full service hospital. At times I have another rheumatologist which I am going to see today. It is medical care but it is different from civilian life if I may express it, for veterans, I go down there and try, I really do. Some of my poor veteran brothers shy away from that stuff. It is not just general public type of things, it is just veterans. I have to see Dr. Mulligan again tomorrow. They are very courteous. They are very helpful. They are very efficient. They call me to see how I am doing. I would rate them a general 'A' across the board as far as my experience goes. Other vets have had problems and it has been in the news and all that. They have not ignored any of my problems. They are very efficient and very on top of things. The availability is a little difficult. For instance, I had scheduled an appointment with my rheumatologist because my knees were severely bothering me and I wasn't able to fulfill that one until April sometime. That is because of the size of the clientele and the availability of the doctor. Dr. Lichtenberg is a teaching physician too. You just have to be patient. You can go to the emergency room and get immediate care but I live in Hanover Park and that is a little ineffective. The office environment is excellent. I was a hospital foreman in the navy, Vietnam and the whole bit. I approach doctors differently than probably the majority of individuals. I understand what they have to go through if emergencies come up and things like that. I am not impatient when I go to the doctor. The parking is a bit difficult but that is because there is an awful lot of us, believe me, it is a cast of thousands. You just have to be patient and do your timing correctly. The administration, there is no problem, billing, because I have a 70% disability and I have my health insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, I don't end up paying anything.

He is wonderful, very, very knowlegable and caring for his patients. I would recommend to others and use him for anyone I knew that needed that type of work done.
