Getting any sort of follow up or information from any of the staff is near impossible. After sign up, trying to get a trainer scheduled was attempted and after several calls we gave up and no one at the desk or on the floor is helpful, they said to call someone else. We went from a gym downtown where we had a trainer twice a week, and would have done the same here if Good Shepherd had any semblence of customer communication. Tried to schedule other activites such as swim lessons for our son and simply get detail on services and got no call back or employees in staff simply onsite didn't know. Even cancelling was made substantially more difficult than it needs to be. I would recommend going virtually anywhere else.

Good to start, but my normally outgoing happy 6 year old daughter got really embarrassed and uncomfortable with interactions with the instructor/owner.  My daughter loved taking martial arts classes, was proud of herself and was always excited to go to class until issues with the instructor and admin.  After the experience my daughter no longer wanted to take martial arts classes.  I hope to get her to reconsider with another facility that may be better suited for young kids. I would not recommend this facility for young children. They will try to get you to sign up for multiple sessions to start. If you want to try them out I highly recommend only paying for one session at a time to start.  The location is convenient if you live in Barrington and likely the primary reason they get customers. I would look around for a facility that may offer a better experience.

My son has attended Barrington Martial Arts for 9 years now.  I have been very pleased with the classes and experiences he has had here.  The classes are small in size and all of the instructors are very helpful and encouraging.  They do a good job making sure your child is being challenged at the right level.  There are several different age ranges for the classes.  My son gets a good workout in addition to gaining great skills with self confidence and discipline.  We have had nothing but positive experiences here.
I have been attending the adult advanced cardio workouts now for about a year.  Master Lawson provides a very good workout and continually changes things so it is not repetitive.  Again, nothing but positive experiences with this class as well.

    Lifetime Fitness - Algonquin
I was a member of lifetime fitness for about a year and a half and had training there for a little over a year, I saw great results with training although they are extremely pushy. After my trainer moved to a different club, it was difficult to find a replacement. The four other trainers I tried didn't work for me. Shortly after I terminated my membership and 6 months later I join again, they lure you in with useless LT bucks that I never ended up using and when I tries to cancel my membership within 30 days for a full refund, apparently there is a fine print that says it's only for new members and former members do not have that option so I was pretty upset because the person that signed me up assured me that I had nothing to lose and that I have 30 days for a full refund. I spoke to the managers and they did what they could to keep me as a member, and I agreed, which was my mistake. I should have cancelled at that time, because shortly after that I ended up terminating my membership and lost the opportunity for a refund. Overall this company is money hungry and deceiving and from what I hear very bad to work for as well, their employee turnover rate is crazy.

Best of the Best. Master Lawson provides Tae Kwon Do training sanctioned by the Kukkiwon, South Korea.
Kukkiwon is the W** (World TaeKwonDo Federation).
I have been training at the school since my 62nd birthday for 13 years.
Master Lawson has many time schedules for training from White Belt to advanced Black Belt and...
a special 50+ adult TaeKwonDo class, Mon /Weds and Fri from Noon to 12:45

Dr. Anthony Petrone/Dr. Alfred Petrone/ Dr. Barnes
They treated my lower back issues as well as after an initial assessment, they discovered that I had limited mobility in my neck and upper shoulders. I was treated by Dr. Patrone using their electronic adjustment machine as well as significant physical therapy. I feel the physical therapy helped the most as I continued to do it at home which contributed to me losing over 30 lbs. since I started treatment with Dr. Patrone. His physical therapy team are top notch and use many different stretching methods as well as mechanical methods of strengthening the muscles necessary to improve my posture and core strength. This made the biggest difference and helped me overcome the aches and pains. The entire office staff is really friendly and although it not the most esthetically pretty office, it is an effective place to get treatement and relieve pains you may be experiencing.

    Wisthoff's Fitness Warehouse
Called and came earlier than the appointment time which was fine as I was home waiting for them. Completed work and said he tested equipment, I paid the bill and he left. Foolishly I did not check his work before I let the repairman leave. I did go to look at the equipment and turn off the basement lights only to find he put on the covers upside down on the wrong sides. GREAT!! So after a $75 service call and $49 labor charge I had to unscrew all the bolts with the Allen wrench I had, put them on correctly and replace the bolts. My main problem was the bottom bolts we so close to the ground my husband had to tilt the machine for me to be able to remove those two bolts prior to the repairman coming so I could send email pics of the part they needed to order. After much fumbling and contorting I was able to get the bolts in part way. How could the repairman not realize the covers were upside down with large PRECOR across the covers upside down and backwards. He just didn't care and wanted to get to the next appointment. I was very disappointed and feel you can't trust people to take pride in their work.

I have been very impressed with the training my son has received. The instructors do teach the children respect and courtesy in every class, yet they get to have fun as well. My son's self-esteem has increased, as well as his physical abilities. Each belt that he attains brings more responsibility and the staff at BMA are there to support him. They definitely do not just give out belts, the students need to earn them. As a parent, I appreciate this in a world where everyone gets a medal or ribbon just for attending an event. My son definitely has a sense of accomplishment when he earns a new belt. I gave a B for punctuality because the classes usually run a bit late, but the students always get their full class time.

I'm feeling so much better than I did before. Linda is absolutely great to talk to and listens to my feedback. We have been working to slowly increase the hormones and I'm almost back to normal. She makes a change in the dosage then allows three months for my body to equilibrate. As someone with a scientific background I understand the importance of using this approach. My advice to future patients is be patient with the process.

My son and daughter could have been little spoiled brats with all the attention we give them but they are not. Through the wonderful humble training they have received they are respectful and highly praised by football and basketball coaches. They have that "snap too" attitude that they look for. My son is working toward his 3rd degree and my daughter is working on her second. They accomplish amazing things constantly in class which makes them wonder what their limits are. They are put under the right amount of stress to grow confidence for corporate America. They walk and talk and feel confident in all environments. They have learned self control at all costs. Like the Master Card commercial-Priceless. They have cool things to put on their resume for college. They have accomplished so much compared to their peers. Don't wait. Lot's of programs-some burn 900 calories and hour. Cardio-kick boxing-Cardio Fitness-Speed and Agility-all forms Martial Arts.
