    PuroClean Water and Fire Restoration
PuroClean responded immediately and came to inspect the damage. They had guys and trucks at my home within 30 minutes of inspection and began soaking up the water and mitigating the damage. They are extremely responsive and I can really trust the work they are doing is everything necessary, nothing excessive, and they are making sure Im comfortable every step of the way!

    Spectrum Restoration Services
A water supply line to the upstairs bathtub broke while we were away from the empty house we were getting ready to sell. No one had been in the house for two days, so we had collapsed ceilings and water on every level and in every room of the house. We called Spectrum Restorations Services within an hour of our discovery--Friday night at about 6 p.m.--and the company president was there an hour later with industrial dehumidifiers to being drying the house immediately. Over the next nine days, Spectrum's staff dried the house and removed everything that couldn't be saved. The house was built in 1927 and we were devastated to think of all the original elements we were going to lose, but Spectrum's staff bent over backward to salvage as much as possible. What could have been a tremendously traumatic event was a lot more manageable because of the Spectrum staff's care and professionalism. I highly recommend them.

New Way has always done an excellent job in every service they provide for us. They reply to messages promptly, are very dependable, and we are always happy with the results of our carpet cleaning. I have been a New Way customer for over 10 years and without hesitation I have referred them to my family and friends.

    Servpro of Woodridge/Bolingbrook
Luckily I remembered seeing Cynthia's post on Facebook. I pm'd her late Thursday night and she had a crew at our doorstep Friday morning even though we live out in Aurora! After making sure there was no drywall damage, using special moisture detectors, they had the water removed and after a few days of drying, they had carpets cleaned and deoderized. They even cleaned carpets on the rest of our house while they were there and it's the best they've looked in years. Looks great and smells great! Servpro rocks!

    Restoration Techs
They came out immediately. They worked long hours until everything was finished. The company owner came out several times to supervise and ask how things were going and to explain what needed to be done and what they were completing.

The care and concern they took was wonderful. The crew was neat and clean and conscientious. They did exactly what they said they would do and arrived at the time specified each day to check on the condition of my basement. I appreciate their consistent level of communication and commitment to not just meeting but exceeding my expectations.

    Chicago Water & Fire Restoration
Chicago Water & Fire provides a service I had no idea was available, and am I glad they exist!!! They are an incredible company!!! After having water damage to my basement, Chicago Water & Fire sent out a remarkable team of very professional, hard working men to my rescue I didn't have to lift a finger! After meeting with the Project Manager, Michael White and with him assessing the situation, a crew was at my home and working within a couple hours! The Project Manager explained what needed to be done and informed me he could have a crew at my home and working at no time at all. When the crew arrived, they too explained what they would be doing, and informed me they would take care of everything and that they did! They were focused and worked diligently at clearing out the water damaged items and covering and protecting furnishings that were not affected. Something I noticed also about them was that they were extremely courteous, considerate and polite. Kudos to this amazing team for the exceptional job they did in the cleanup, clearing and drying out of my basement!!! Mikey and John it was truly a pleasure in knowing you the short time you were at my home and I can't thank you enough for the great job you did! Jordan, Anthony, Steven C. and Jose N., I certainly can't leave you out because you four also have the same work ethics and professionalism. All six of you have the right attitudes in service which will take you quite far in life. Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you Chicago Water & Fire, you certainly were a blessing to me; God bless all of you!!!

    Changing Colors, Inc

In the summer, we received quotes from various painters. Changing Colors was one of them. When Tony came out to the house, we just felt that he was the right choice. He was very knowledgeable and we felt he was a man of integrity. His quote was not the lowest but we felt the only one we could use. Due to various issues, on our side, they did not start until 12/28. Jamie, George, and Vincente came and in 2 1/2 days they were done. They did a great job. They even removed our drapes and moved furniture. They were pleasant and respectful. When they left everything was back in it's place. I would hire again.

    Perma-Seal Basement Systems
I think Permaseal should reallocate funds from sales and marketing to training their staff.  I constantly hear commercials on the radio and on TV about how Permaseal is the proven solution but this is not the case.  Please Google search basement water-proofing and price check competitors.  You will save yourself a lot of money and stress.
I had the same Permaseal sales rep. come out to my house twice.  Each time, he came with a new lap-top and printer that Permaseal provided.  I complimented him on his "new gear".  To which, he replied:
"Permaseal provides this to all of their reps.  I heard a rumor that we're all getting IPads soon."
    How nice.
The first time, the sales rep. tried to sell me a crack injection with lifetime warranty for over $500.  I checked prices at the competition and was shocked to find one who provided an injection with lifetime warranty for $380.  Needless to say, I chose to save $120.
I actually hired Permseal the second time, but I wish that I hadn't.  My backyard is flat, and so I needed an underground extension to redirect my sump pump discharge into the sloped front yard.  The same guy came out and proposed that they create a new sump discharge from the side of my house, run the discharge pipe from there into the ground and out into the front yard.  He told me that I would have to trim or remove one of my beautiful bushes in the front of my house, or the team would not be able to dig the trench for the pipe.  Per the Permaseal contract, this would have to happen before the work crew arrived on the day work was scheduled or they would charge me for their time to do it themselves.  I repeatedly told the sales rep. that I wasn't happy about having to trim my pretty bush.
The work was scheduled to be completed in early April.  Despite the fact that I didn't want to, I trimmed half of my bush away in preparation for the Permaseal team.  My total bill was paid in advance per the Permaseal contract.
The Permaseal team came out as scheduled, however, the foreman for the work told me that the plan the sales rep. proposed would put additional stress on my sump pump.  He suggested using the existing sump pump discharge from the back of my house, and simply adding 20 more feet to the underground pipe.  This would help me to avoid replacing burnt out sump pumps.  With the savings from not having to install a new discharge on the side of my house, the additional feet of underground extension increased my bill by $100.  This is a lot better than replacing sump pump after sump pump.  However, the foreman did not have the additional feet of pipe with him to complete the underground extension on that day, and so I would have to reschedule and waste another Saturday morning.  ALSO, THE FOREMAN TOLD ME THAT I DID NOT HAVE TO TRIM HALF OF MY BUSH AWAY.
In the time leading up to the new work date, I was unable to reach the sales rep or anyone else in the Permaseal office.  Apparently, their office had flooded!  This fact alone should be a warning signal.  The sales rep. did contact me a couple of days before the new work date.  He wanted me to draw the new proposed work diagram and fax it to him, but this was his job.
The workteam came out on the scheduled work date and completed the work.  The new foreman then asked me how I was going to pay.  I told him that I had already paid via credit card months ago.  He called the Permaseal office, and they told him that they had no record of me paying.  I assured the guy I did, and asked him to leave as I can prove payment via my credit card statements.

    Preferred Roofing & Exteriors
From start to finish, this job was done in a professional manner.  Great care was taken to ensure that my house and landscaping was protected.  Steve (owner) personally supervised the project and took the time to answer all of my questions (and I had a lot of them!) before, during and after the project. The roof looks great and seems to be of a high quality - no problems so far.  There are a few shingles that have not yet laid completely flat (after 2 days), but Steve assured me that is normal and will be completely flat (from heat and gravity) in month or less (and that they would come back to correct if any do not lay flat after a month).
This was the first time that I needed to have home work done related to an insurance claim, so honestly I did not know what to expect from this industry.  What came to my doorstep seemed to be mostly questionable "storm chasers" types, many of which were not local and seemed only interested in knowing how much money the insurance company was paying out to cover the damage. So, I thought to myself, why do they want to know how much the ins company was paying?  Shouldn't they honestly determine what my job should cost to do correctly and how much margin they would target making - regardless of ins numbers?  Preferred never asked to see the ins numbers during the estimate, so I felt that they were truly looking to do an honest repair to my home regardless of what ins may or may not have covered.
One other note - the roofing crew did accidentally damage my garden's above ground watering pipe, but Steve arranged to send out a plumber the very next morning to fix it!  Nice job!
