Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning
After searching for reputable companies 9 years ago we chose Four Seasons to replace our Furnace & A/C unit at the same time. Both were working fine, but were 22 years old & we thought it best to replace them both with High Efficiency models that would be more environmentally friendly & more efficient for our home. We chose Lennox units that were high efficiency rated & had an excellent reputation for quality HVAC systems. Four Seasons was not the least expensive proposal we got, but went with them due to the excellent reviews & ratings they had. From the start we had ongoing issues & problems with the installation. During the first year we had numerous call back trips by many different technicians. During the process they shorted out our Whole House Humidifier System as well. It had been replaced only a year prior so naturally I was quiet upset. When I called to complain about the damaged system I was given a great runaround. However, after several calls the unit was replaced at no charge. Unfortunately, it did not work & again several call backs with other techs trying to fix it. Ultimately it worked & we were annoyed, but satisfied. We had many Tune Ups & Maintenance done on both the A/C & Furnace. When the A/C stopped working several years ago, we called for service & were told that there was no warranty because we did not have an A/C Tune Up done that year!! I fought with Customer Service & Supervisors about this but they stood their ground. ONLY after I posted a negative Angie's List review did they agree to split the charges for repair to the A/C. My confidence in Four Seasons really became tested as the interactions with them continued. Discussion with neighbors revealed some negative experiences with them, so we decided to investigate other local HVAC companies. This fall we decided to try another company for the Pre Winter furnace Tune Up. Upon inspection, the Tech showed us pictures of a totally rusted out Heat Exchanger on our 9-year-old furnace. Since that is only about half the expected life expectancy for the unit, we were obviously quite upset. The Tech showed us that Four Seasons improperly installed the exterior intake & exhaust system outside the house. All of our neighbors had the PVC pipes for exhaust facing downward with a pipe elbow. Our system was installed straight with no elbow directing exhaust away. Instead, the exhaust filled with Humidifier loaded air was getting sucked directly back into the Intake pipe! Thus all the moist humid air was being sucked back into our furnace & totally rusted out the heat exchanger!! There were a minimum of 8 different Four Seasons techs at our home over the time period & not one of them noted the problem or fixed it. I can understand a small company with one tech not noticing but we had a minimum of 12 different callbacks & service calls & Tune Ups by different techs & not one addressed the faulty installation& problems it would cause us. In fact, the tech that showed us the problem Red Tagged our unit & shut the furnace down for fear we would have Carbon Monoxide Poisoning due to the faulty heat exchanger. They were not a Lennox dealer so I called Lennox directly was told the Heat Exchanger would be under warranty IF it were properly installed. However, the heat exchanger was obsolete so we would need a new furnace. Again we were upset & felt TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF by Four Seasons. Lennox gave me names of local Authorized Dealers to contact. We did & another company was shocked seeing the Four Seasons Installation & the premature rust out it caused. When we explained how many different Four Seasons had come to our home during the 9 yearsthey were utterly appalled that not one saw or reported the faulty installation to us. To make problems worse, they found faulty wiring & the PVC pipes never had PVC cement, which is proper to connect one pipe to another. Instead, they were only caulked togetheranother area for Carbon Monoxide to escape or re-circulate. We ultimately had our furnace replaced with a new high efficiency Lennox unit. However we had to pay $2,375.00 to have it replaced. Considering the fault was 100% verified by 2 independent HVAC contractor companies, we feel Four Seasons should be responsible for the cost of the replacement. Sadly, they have refused any accountability and have washed their hands of the matter. We want everyone to know what this company is really like and does not stand behind its products, its people, its installations and most important its customers. Dont get burned like we did.

Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning
Cleaning and inspection seemed fine. However when the tech was asked about a wiring issue with my two stage furnace, his knowledge level was very poor. Telling me there is no problem, when I am sure there is. He just wanted to be done with the service call and leave. He said If theres any problems, just give us a call. Leave it for the next guy, I guess. And at least another service call charge. Probably will be getting a second opinion from a different contractor. UPDATE AS OF 11.22.2019: This is an addendum to a review I submitted a week ago, with regard to improper furnace and humidifier wiring. I have to say that Four Seasons does genuinely seem to care about poor service experiences and makes great effort to make things right. The wiring was assessed and fixed, and the technician today was very knowledgeable and professional. I am still not happy about the initial installation two years ago by Four Seasons, when the wiring was done in the first place, and I had to determine the problem on my own. But the follow up they provided in response to a poor service experience was good.

Grand Comfort Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning
Steve was available to look at our furnace the same day that I called. He quickly identified that the wiring was not properly configured (likely from a recent technician and decades of other technicians performing shortcuts). Instead of diving into the furnace and spending time to troubleshoot other parts, he focused his time on fixing the wiring. I was particularly impressed with his emphasis to do the job "right" and help the next HVAC person in the future instead of completing the job as quickly as possible. In the end, fixing the incorrect wiring was exactly the problem and we were able to have a working furnace without having to replace any new parts within a few hours. Steve was awesome and I plan to ask for him for future service calls.

    G & R Heating and Air
G & R Heating and Air was contracted out by American Home Shield Warranty to come out and diagnose my Air Conditioner/Furnace in my condo because it stopped working. A technician came out Friday (8\16\2019) afternoon. The technician (Rob) called me back and said my motor was seized, I needed a new motor. The warranty company apparently was having trouble with their system so the diagnosis from G & R couldn't be submitted right away for the repair to be approved. I called the warranty company and they mentioned that they will email G & R to get the diagnosis so that this can be expedited. Rob from G&R told me I could pay out of pocket it would cost me about $1,600.00 to get it done (over the weekend) right away or I could wait until Monday. I wasn't going to pay out of pocket, hence the reason for having insurance. I called G&R and spoke to A.J. on Saturday morning to see if he received the email, he said he would check and get back to me. I never got a call back. I figured it was the weekend so we weren't going to get any additional help, let's just get through the weekend My wife, my 2 month old baby, and my 2 year old son survived the weekend in the heat to try to get by until Monday. On Monday (8/19/19) morning I called G & R, I spoke to A.J. he said they were waiting on approval from the warranty company. I called the warranty company and they mentioned that the part for repair had been ordered but it will be delivered within the next 5 days. I reiterated that I couldn't wait that long and be without AC for 5 days with an infant in the house. The warranty company worked with me and we got on a three-way conference with G & R (A.J.). G & R had to get approval from the American Home Shield "approval department" to go pick up the part themselves. Shortly after, A.J. calls me back and says that they (referring to G&R) are kind of new working with American Home Shield (warranty company) however they got approval for them to go get the part and repair it. However, A.J. said if it would cost me an additional $75 for them to go pick up the part. I was a little confused because typically when dealing through an warranty company you do not pay additional fees (to the contractor) but being promised it would get repaired today and had already spent all morning on the phone back and forth and in desperation to get this fixed for my family, I gave G & R my CC number over the phone and this matter was about to be settled. G&R agreed they were going to go pick up the part and fix it today between 12pm- 2pm...so I thought. 30 minutes later I get a text from G & R stating that they would not be able to do this today, they will have to wait until tomorrow. So I called A.J. back and he mentioned they couldn't go pick up the part today it was all the way in West Chicago, and that would put their guys on overtime and blah, blah, blah...so I OFFERED to go pick up the part MYSELF as long as it was repaired today. A.J. said no he couldn't allow that. So then I said because your making me wait another day, at least refund me the $75 since I agreed to pay that based on the repair happening today. A.J said no he would still have to charge me or nothing could be done. I asked to speak to a manger or someone in charge, A.J said there was no one around right now. So basically, A.J. makes a decision like this without even consulting someone else in the company, after you make a promise without confirming it can be fulfilled and you still want to charge me $75? That was the final straw dealing with these lazy, lying crooks from G & R. They lied to me, tried to overcharge the insurance company for a $150 part, tried to take my money after they are strictly prohibited from charging anything out of pocket when going through the warranty company (I confirmed this with Home Shield and they were not supposed to have charged me anything). No one from G&R cared or had any concern for the situation I was in with small children involved. If this was my business and one of my employees made a promise and I couldn't deliver it, I would personally call the customer and most definitely offer them a refund while still doing the job! If you screw up, you rectify the situation, not penalize the customer because of your incompetent employee's bad decisions. There are thousands of these heating and air companies out there, so how G&R stays in business with that kind of horrible and deceitful service, boggles me. You would think they're customer service would be top priority. Not G & R. They are in the business of ripping you off, taking advantage of people in desperate situations and taking your money only to deliver empty promises. These guys need to be out of business, and based on these other horrific reviews on here, that will probably happen very soon and it will be justified.

    Comfort Masters Service Experts
First let me say that I have used them in the past and I found their other techs to be professional. I have used and use Angie list when I found Comfort Masters. Made the appointment a week in advance for between 12 and 2pm, their office called and said tech was running late and is 3pm ok. Well furnace is not running and I had use them before so I will wait. The reason I called Comfort Masters was to fix my AC and only charge me for what it takes to fix my AC. Guy shows up a little after 3pm, I said so your running a bit late he said I am not late. So while the tech is examining the furnace and we are discussing age he says that I could lease a new unit for $99.00 a month. Ok, so $99.00 a month for AC and furnace, he said no that is the starting point mine would probably be $160 - $170.00 a month, but it includes everything. Wow same price as a Honda car lease. If I am interested I can contact the company and the leasing rep would come out. Really! $165.00 a month for 12 month = $1,980.00 x 10 years $19800.00 vs lets say $7000.00 unit with low interest loan lets add 10% (simple) interest over 5 year $7700.00 / 60 months $123.33 a month and I own the unit. What if I sell do I still pay rent, maybe the new owner will be happy to pay my lease. Anyways there are more question then answer so forget the lease. You can see how leasing does not make sense, however this did trigger my mind to think that this is just a "screw me" lease from a company I thought I trusted. So he tells me what I need and he will give me an estimate in a little while. Goes to his truck and 15 minutes later presents me with an estimate for $1,000.00 for what it says he is recommending . Recommending $1,000.00 for a non itemized grouped together quote. I needed my AC to work and do I need the $1,000.00 he is recommending, I think I need a capacitor (not sure as of this writing) but if there is no proof I need a motor and fan on a 23 year old unit why would I spend the additional money til it was absolutely proven. Plus I had the fan replaced by them a year or 2 ago so I probably need to buy another one (really!) cause the tech recommends I buy another one. Really, maybe he needs to buy me the fan I paid $400.00 installed a year or two ago. Well any how none of this made any sense to me. I paid the $85.00 inspection fee. The $1,085.00 listed is for the quote and the RECOMMENDED repairs I do not know if they even credit back the $85.00 quote if I do $1,000.00 recommended repair/replacement. I have lost may faith in Comfort Masters of Wheeling Illinois.

FIVE STAR HEATING & AIR INC
Dave and Adam did an excellent job replacing my furnace. They were on time, made sure to protect my floors with tarps, and completed a neat installation much faster than they estimated. Dave even pointed out that the exhaust from my other furnace was damaging my brick because it was pointed wrong, and proceeded to fix it! Five Start Heating and Air always greets me by name when I call, and does everything they can to accommodate my schedule. I highly recommend them.

FIVE STAR HEATING & AIR INC
Isaac came in the same day I called and really worked with us to explain out options and decide the best plan considering both short- and long-term implications. Only a few days later, we spoke with Bill on the phone about the financing packages as well as best installation dates and processes. They were so incredibly accommodating and were at our door the very next business day. The install was completed without a hitch and they were completely finished by noon. Not only did they remove the old furnace, they did so leaving not a trace that any installation had even occurred given how clean everything was left. We have a new HVAC company and are so excited to be working with them! We would recommend them completely!

FIVE STAR HEATING & AIR INC
I brought a new Trane furnace and their installation went flawlessly. Their installers, Dave and Isaac were great. They were on time, neat and very professional, as well as being extremely knowledgeable and courteous. They left the area neater than they found it. I would highly recommend this company for any heating or air conditioning needs. I would also recommend a Trane system as I have had nothing but problems with my previous Carrier furnace which was only 14 years old and had gone through 2 "mother boards" which costs half the price of an entire unit! No more Carrier for me.

Air Blue Heating & Cooling Inc
I took advantage of the $59 diagnostic through Angies List on 5/31/18. The tech they sent out was great. He was on time, pleasant, neat, and informed me that the condenser motor was seized and needed to be replaced. He checked pricing and told me the cost to repair would be $800-$1000. My AC is probably over 25 years old...not worth paying that much to fix. The tech and I discussed replacing the unit and that he would need to send out a sales person in order to do an estimate - I agreed. After the tech left, I looked into pricing on condenser motors online. Parts ranged from $80-$150. I pulled the model number from my broken fan motor and actually found it online for $42 (new, albeit on clearance). I ended up buying that and 2 capacitors for $80 including shipping. I know very little about HVAC systems and have never attempted to repair one before, but am kinda handy. From start to finish it took about 2 hours including the 30 min to free up a rusted bolt. I only detailed the work I did to let everyone know how overpriced the repair estimate was, especially considering the little amount of money I spent on parts and that as a complete novice I fixed the unit in a fairly short period of time. I also saw that a typical charge for a company to replace a fan motor was $400-$500. So these guys were literally gonna charge me double the average cost. To put the frosting on the cake, so to speak, they still havent reached out to provide an estimate on a new system (not that Id use them). Im really not sure why theyd scare me into buying a new AC, but then not make an effort to actually sell it to me.

I called Chester early morning to check if he can come the same day to check our air conditioner. It just stopped working the previous night. Fortunately he has available after 11am and at 12.30am the air conditioner worked again. I saved his phone number in my cell phone just in case.
