    A/C service and odd noise investigation was requested along with a "once over" checkup.  Quick turn around with no further odd noise.  Mahers' customary complete and friendly service.  No surprise(s).

    Valvoline does a good job.  They send us coupons and things like that. It is $10 off, sometimes $15. They are very thorough. They walk through all the inspections and make sure everything is okay.  We have been going there since 2008, that is when my husband got his truck. They are nice kids. They are all young but they are very well trained.  Four months ago I went there to have my carbon filter changed. I was surprised what a pain in the but that was to get to but they were really fair. We have not had a bad experience with them.

    Stutz will be my first choice for car/engine needs in the future. We had just spent money to fix a sunroof and several other issues that start adding up financially when our starter died. I really didn't have the money to spend at the place where I normally have work done (they do great work but tend to be a little on the high end price wise). I asked one of my mentors where he would recommend? He immediately called Stutz and had them tow the vehicle and fix the problem. They picked up the vehicle to tow at 3:30 PM and by 8 AM the next morning I received a phone call telling me it was ready.
    The next day I went in to pick up the vehicle knowing that they would give me a fair price, it was still more than what I had in the bank at the time. The owner, allowed me to explain my situation and he took a payment from me that I could offer and agreed to let me take my vehicle with me and come back the next week to pay the balance. Not many companies will extend that type of trust and courtesy to people in today's world. Don't know if he would do that to anyone else but the guy is very easy to talk to and very reputable. This will be our preferred choice from now on.

    Joe Caruana is the guy.  He works there as a Service Advisor, and he treats people with respect.  I explained to him that I would be unable to drop my SUV off at the dealership until noon, and he warned me they might not be able to get everything done before the close of the day.  He offered me a loaner car, and was ready to go when I showed up.  To my surprise, they were able to get everything done plus washed the SUV, and I was back in my SUV by the end of the day.  Great service performed by great people, and everything is covered with a warranty, so if I should trouble in the future, it is covered.  Great experience!

    Tom always does great work. Installed new brake pads and new rotors on front and rear. Usually you can turn the rotors and reuse, however, Honda has changed their braking systems and Tom took the time time to explain this to me and show me the old rotors and why they couldn't be turned. He has been my mechanic for the last 20 years and is by far the best mechanic in the area.

    Use NTB for all my oil changes.  For the same price you'd pay at the drive-through oil change places, they will do the same and rotate your tires so you can get the maximum mileage.  Not as convenient as the drive through, but if you make an appointment, they will get you in and out in less than an hour.

    It took them 11 weeks to get our vehicle in to complete those items on the "we owe" that we had already paid for.  Once they had our vehicle they had it for a month.  All they were supposed to do was to professionally clean the interior, including the header, fix rear window defrost wiring, and repair cuts in the leather of the back seat.  We were told this would take a couple of days.  As a separate issue I asked them to check and see if there was something stuck in the track of our sunroof.  2/3 of its functions were working.  It would open up and close properly but would not pull back to open.  Three weeks later and several phone calls to try and find out why it was taking so long to get a phone call from the service department as well as to get our suburban back we found out that they still hadn't completed all of the items on the "we owe" list. 
    Long story short, after getting nowhere with the service department I went back to the sales department for help.  We found out that at least three people were fired during the three weeks that they had our suburban back in the service department.  Our sunroof is completely broken now and is not sealed.  Every time it rains water is getting into the vehicle.  The estimated cost to repair is $1,300.  They also told me that I would need to pay an additional $275 to fix the rear defrost issue because it was going to cost more than they quoted me.  
    At the same time the brakes on the suburban had failed.  We had a brake pad fall completely out of the wheel when driving out our driveway.  We had the brakes looked at and the front pads were almost non existent.  We ended up having to completely replace the front rotors and pads.  Also while doing the brakes we discovered that the sway bar bushing had rusted out and broken.  All of the brake issues occured within 2 months of purchasing the car.
    Auto Centers Nissan did end up partially completing the "we owe" agreement.  What wasn't finished was paid back to us.  In addition to the monies from the reimbursement from the "we owe" they gave us an additional 500 dollars for our time and our trouble.  Overall, the plant manager issued us a $750 check and his apologies but we still have a suburban now that has a sunroof that is no longer functional nor does it seal.  In the last three weeks we have discovered more problems with this vehicle.  However, we will not be taking back to Auto Centers Nissan to be serviced.  
    I would not recommend purchasing a vehicle from Auto Centers Nissan unless it was brand new.  Even then I would be skeptical.  While the plant manager and I did come to an agreement I am still more frustrated than ever.

    We only use Midas for our car needs because of their excellent service.  My husband took his car in a couple weeks ago with what he thought was an oil or freon leak.  He couldn't tell which one.  The guy checked his freon and knew right away it was leaking because he had it filled less than 2 months ago.  He drained the freon (at no charge), and filled it back up to try and find the leak.  He was unable to locate it in the system but thought it may be in the dashboard.  He said if it was in the dashboard it would cost way too much to fix and he would advise we just fill it on our own once a year.  He could have easily taken advantage of us but he didn't.  Everyone at the Alton Midas location has always looked out for us and we appreciate them greatly.  The economy is horrible and we are down to one income but we have to keep our cars in top shape.  We trust them to take care of us.

    I have bought my last 3 cars at Weber in Granite City and this last car I bought has given me nothing but trouble.  I took it in because I kept hearing something loose underneath the front of my car.  The first time I brought it in they couldn't replicate the thumping noise I was hearing.  Go figure!  I continued hearing it and 2 weeks later brought it in again.  This time they heard it after I took them on a drive.  They put some sensors underneath the car to try and pinpoint what it was.  They determined it was a loose bolt and they fixed it.  The next day, I could still hear the rattling.  So I took it back for the 3rd time.  This time they indicated something else was loose (forgive me as I don't remember what it was.  Anyway, they claimed to have fixed it and said they took it for a drive and don't hear anything else.  So a week later, here I was driving home again and sure enough, there was that sound again.  I drove it right back to them for the 4th time and they said I had back struts on the front that needed replaced.  Thank goodness all this was under warranty or I would have been even more mad.  They fixed the struts and I haven't heard the noise since.  What really threw me is that it took this longto figure it out when the entire time they were right there fixing everything but the struts.  As soon as this car is no longer under warranty it will go to only one repair shop, that I trust with all my cars.I will not take it back to the dealer.And the next car I buy will not be from them neither.

    I have been using Stutz Service for the last 7 years and they are excellent. Not only do they perform honest, good work but they do so in a timely manner. Over the years, we've come to know the workers at Stutz and have come to trust them. They've often given us advice over the phone about the car issue, allowed us to make payments for unexpected work, given us rides home and taken a drive with us to figure out the specific car issue at no extra charge to us. The folks at Stutz are honest and hard-working. I often feel like I have a big brother at Stutz looking out for me. I wouldn't go anywhere else to service my vehicle and I couldn't more highly recommend them!
