  • I arrived early for my appointment. When I walked in, I wasn't sure if I was in a doctor's office or a shoe store. There was a shoe display in the waiting room area and the wall behind the reception area was covered with foot related items.
I completed the necessary forms and waited for about 25 minutes to be called in for my visit with the doctor. Upon being called into the examining room, a staff member asked several additional questions and my reponses were entered into a computer. Several minutes later, the doctor came into the room and asked more questions and attempted to make some entries into their computer program. He then realized that he needed a new patient form. The doctor left the examining room and another technician came in to locate the appropriate form and make additional entries into their software program.
When the doctor came back in, he examined my feet. He stated that I had a fungus on the nail of the big toe on my left foot as well as on the tips of two toes on my right foot. I asked how they could be treated and he replied that there were two approaches that are available. The first is a medication called lamisil which is a pill taken orally for four months and the second treatment was by laser. I asked for a brochure regarding the laser treatment but there was no brochures for this type of treatment in his office.  He said that it could be found on the internet. He then left the examining room and that I could think about the choices.
He was gone almost 30 minutes, seeing other patients before coming back into my examining room. In my opinion, this was  unacceptable and unprofessional. When he returned, we discussed potentially thinking of the lamisil approach. The doctor took some clippings from the big toe nail on my left foot and stated that his office would send them to a lab for evaluation. Two weeks later the lab report was completed and returned to the doctor's office.
When I followed up with Dr. Miller's office to learn the results, I was told that the lab said that their tests were negative for fungus. I went to the doctor's office to pick up a copy of the lab report. I made several follow-up telephone calls to the office asking to have Dr. Miller call me to explain the discrepancy between his evaluation and the lab's findings. I did not receive any return calls from Dr. Miller.
