    FIRST CALL JEWEL
Everything seemed ok at first. We wanted them to install a gas line but were looking for an estimate first. They came out, looked at the house and said they'd have an estimate to me the next day. This was a Thursday. Friday evening comes, nothing, so I called and was told by the receptionist that Tony (the guy who was supposed to give us the estimate) was out of the office but would have it to me over the weekend. Even still, I asked if I could leave him a message, which she said was fine and I left a voicemail for him.
Weekend comes and goes, nothing. I call again on Monday, and Tony's in meetings. Again, I leave a voicemail and am assured by the receptionist that he will get back to me as soon as he's out of his meeting. Monday comes and goes, nothing. Tuesday I call again, get ahold of Tony finally and he says, "oh, uh, yeah I'm working on that today. I'll for sure have you an estimate by 5pm today." First thing - it's been 5 days and you haven't worked on it yet? When you told me it would be one day? Second, I'll believe it when I see it.
Tuesday comes and goes, nothing. I call Wednesday, am greeted by the same receptionist with the same "How can I make you smile?" greeting. Something they clearly don't actually WANT to do, because I was told again that Tony was in a meeting and I could leave him a message. I tell her that he has been completely unresponsive and asked if there was any way I could be given more surety that he would, in fact, respond. "Sending you to his voicemail is really all I can do." So I leave him yet another voicemail, and by this time our project was crunched.
This was a Wednesday. I called another service (Diamond K Heating and Plumbing - excellent, excellent service) and they came out within an hour and sent me an estimate within 3 hours. They came back and did the work two days later, which is a good thing because I STILL haven't heard anything from Tony and it's been over a week since he promised he'd "for sure" have me an estimate. Not even do the work, I just wanted an ESTIMATE.
First Call Jewel's responsiveness was terrible. Their customer service was superficial and follow-through was non-existent. I can't speak to the work they do (who's fault is that?), but if it's anything like their customer service then I recommend anyone and everyone else first.

    Independent Drilling
Our experience with Independent Drilling was truly remarkable.  My wife went to a sink in our house this afternoon to find that we had ZERO water pressure, and the pump for the well was not running.  Expecting the worst, we called Independent Drilling to come take a look.  They're based in Blackfoot, and we live in Rexburg, but were willing to come up and take a look.  The guy in the office said someone on his crew should be back in the office in about 30 minutes, and that he would call me back when he knew when the tech could make it up to see us.  In about 20 minutes the tech called me from Idaho Falls asking some questions about the pump size, and the like.  When I went into our utility room to check the pump specs, I bumped a wire, causing a spark in some wiring.  At that, the pump kicked on and we had water again.  When I called the tech to report on the pump and the sparking incident, he informed me that this was a simple issue with the pressure switch contacts.  Even though he described the problem as basic, and very easy to remedy, I told him I was inclined to have him come up and take a look at everything anyway.  He said that he was more than willing to come up and fix the issue for me, but that the repair was well within my capabilities, and he would feel bad charging for something so simple.  At this, he gave me a full, detailed description about how to clean the contacts on the pressure switch, where I could buy a new pressure switch, which type I should buy, how to install the new pressure switch, and how to make certain that our pressure tank had the appropriate amount of air pressure to maximize water delivery and pump longevity.  At the end of the day, this guy could have easy told me that he needed to come up and replace the whole system, and I would have been none the wiser.  I feel confident doing all of my own home maintenance, but I was completely unfamiliar with well-pump systems, as we only transplanted ourselves to the country from the cushy suburbs recently.  Not only did this guy explain how to keep the system up and running at its greatest efficiency myself, he saved me the cost of a house call and plus parts and labor.  I cannot say enough good about Independent drilling, and their customer service.  I will call them for any future problems I might encounter, and will encourage all of my friends and neighbors to do likewise.

Cost about 4 times what it should have been.  After the work the when the garbage disposal was used it would back up.  Called them.  they said feed it more slowly.  a week later it backed up again.  Got another plumber he said the angle if the drain pipe was wrong and that is why it was backing up.  he fixed the problem in a few minutes.  Paid $2000 for a job that should have been around $400.  Said we got the best faucet and disposal.  Checked it out with a supply shop and the cost of the faucet was $90 and disposal $125.  they also did not give any itemized bill breaking down material and labor.

    ADVANCED PLUMBING & MECHANICAL INC
Showed up with wrong tools (but still charged $250 for an assessment call). Couldn't do anything without tools so had to come back the next day. Took 2 hours to repair and charged $1500. They said they do not use an hourly rate so watch out.

    Advanced Home Services
In the original construction they broke the jetted tub, installed the bathroom vent so it smells like sewage outside, and left bellies in the drain from the kitchen sink to the main drain.  When contacted they put me off until they could say, It's out of warranty and there is nothing we can do about it.  When I found out about the bellies in the drain line the owner refused to take my calls.

    FIRST CALL JEWEL
They were professional and did the job much cheaper than I thought it would be. Everything is still working. I used them for a heating job in the past. They know what they are doing and give the price up front. They have the parts on stock. There is no hassle. They are a good service.

    Gk Pump
Our pump went out twice in one year, once from a lightning strike and once as the result of an excavation accident, and neither time was it an adventure. Both times it was a pain. We used bottled water storage to provide everything from tooth-brushing to toilet flushing. Installing an emergency Freedom Pump hand pump from GK Pumps gave us security without having to store hundreds of two-liter bottles or worrying about where the water might come from should our storage ever run short. Family-business owner-operator Stephanie Jackson of Menan came by our home selling the pump door-to-door. Because of our experience being without water, Stephanie's enthusiasm for the mechanism sold us. Within one hour, she had installed the PVC-and-galvanized pump right through the cover of the well, had it running, demonstrated its simple manual operation, and guaranteed her workand mdash;all for around $200 (the price depends on well depth). We highly recommend GK Pump's product and services to any well owners who want the peace of mind that their well water will be there in an emergency.

They did a wonderful job. They were on time. If going to be late they called to let me know. They were friendly & very efficient. I would definitely call them again if the need arises.
