  • Both dogs have had their own sets of issues. Our mastiff has been in for frequent ear infections due to his breed- Dr. Luce spends the time to fully examine and check all vitals each visit despite the same symptoms. Our Boston Terrier had a broken-leg incident as a puppy and Dr. Clovis was there to perform surgery the next day and install pins. Our pup was probably in the vet every other week for 2.5 months but received All-Star treatment at a very fair price for the procedure. The assistants and front office staff are always great and professional. You can tell the staff at River City are truly there for their passion and care for animals. Strongly recommend the River City Animal Hospital if you are in search of a new veterinarian.

  • Very caring, took time with us, walked my rescued nervous pup back to exam room, let her go in every room to check each out so she felt comfortable. Dr. spent time with me to explain everything. He was considerate of my budget for the exam. I was very impressed.

  • I only used them once but they were not professional. They've very small, kind of like a one or two groomer shop. They were kind of old and did not seem all that clean. They didn't ask for any vaccinations; they just asked if it had been vaccinated, but did not ask for any proof.

  • Horrible, they completely lied to essentially steal money from me. I have two dogs with uncontrollable urination problems. Vet advised that bloodwork and urinalysis was mandatory in order to write a prescription for Proin. When
my first dog started having this problem, I asked if this was mandatory by law, or just what they recommend as a vet.
Sara advised it is mandatory by law and she could lose her license for prescribing without the bloodwork and urinalysis. So, I paid the exorbitant fees for the work. They called to tell me the blood and urin came back fine and they could prescribe the medication, before I had even brought the urin to them for testing. This was my first suspicion that they weren't being honest with me. We were in the process of a move, so I didn't have the time or energy to
fight the battle at that time. Then, a couple of months later, I brought my other dog in with the same problem. It had been a year since her last bloodwork and Sara again stated that it is mandatory by law and she must do the blood work annually in order to prescribe the medication. I paid the fee, with tears in my eyes because I couldn't afford it, and off we went.
Then I remembered that my brother used the same medication and they don't have much money at all, so I'd be surprised if they were paying for bloodwork yearly. I called and asked, and he advised that it was not necessary. He lives in NJ and I thought perhaps the laws are different in WA. I called 4 different vets in the surrounding area who advised that an exam is mandatory, but the bloodwork is only recommended, they all confirmed it is NOT mandatory, and I would not even have to sign a waiver to avoid the blood work. I would never trust this vet, EVER - they just want money. They think that because they work in an affluent area that everyone of their customers (Ex-Customers) has money coming out their ears and will gladly pay for anything they tell them they need. Wonder if you can also lose your license for lying about what is required and what is not.

  • My 5 month old puppys first grooming. The new owner very kindly and patiently answered all my questions on a prior scouting visit. At our appt they were very friendly and kind to my dog. I even heard them reassuring him after I had left him and shut the door. They were finished with him in slightly more than two hours. He got his ears cleaned and plucked, his feet trimmed and his face trimmed in addition to the regular bath and brush. I am pleased with the results and will definitely return.

  • Things didn't go well at all from start to the death of my dog, who had a few more years left in him.  Don't ever trust a veterinarian, you know your pet better then they do. NO! your pet doesn't need a bunch of test (more money for them) to get a tooth pulled. A blood count on a diabetic dog may be a good thing. But wasn't done on my dog or ask if I wanted that done.  Always ask if a test is really needed for what you take your pet in for. Also know that if your pet is left over night, ASK if some one will be there over night should the pet need care, like chews a cord hanging off of it.

I have heard of dogs dying at River City Animal Hospital while being boarded there. Don't think because you board your dog at your veterinary that the dog is getting better care. It's the help ,not the Vet looking after your pet. You just pay more ..

  • We started using Dave Tester when we had horses.  If we needed him on an emergency call and if he was detained,  he even came out after hours, treated the horses, put them back in their stall, turned out the lights...and never expected us to wait up until the early hours of the morning.  He and his associates have the utmost  professional and personal integrity.  They are truly "Keepers".

  • Terri did a great job and was very professional. The shop was clean and smelled very good. Our dogs did not seem to mind it as much as the previous groomer' place. We definitely will use Star Grooming from now on.

  • I go to them because of his extremely good bedside manner and his price, and veterinarian are so expensive. He treats him like he would be treating his own dog. They are upfront about the price, and they understand that not everybody has a lot of money, and they still want the best for their pets. As soon as you go to them they try to tell you everything about the money, and they are so aware of people's budget needs.

  • They also board animals which we did in Dec and she had shots last May. They are very gentle with the animals, they explain things very well to us to let us know what's going on and how she's doing. They are very good about making recommendations if we need to change anything in her diet or activity level. They do a really good job and they are very professional.
