    Sacred Heart Medical Center
Fantastic care of both myself (4 hospitalizations in the past 3 years) and my son after delivery via emergency C-section. Very close monitoring and caring for myself and my family. The nurses, physicians and ancillary staff were great. Would definitely recommend to others and go to for further care.

My Mother was transferred to this Rehabilitation Institute From Spokane, Washington. She had been intubated and suffering from acute respiratory distress. The goal was to get her off the Respiratory Ventilator so she could breathe on her own. She was well cared for when she first arrived and placed in the Acute Care Area. However, things went downhill as she got better and was moved to general population. There are no in-room telephones so that patients can stay in touch with their families. The Administration groused about the cost of long distance calls across the state border to Spokane, which is 20 miles away. The food was poor at best and the odor of it made my mother ill ? even before she ate it. The rooms were frigid during the night and made it difficult to sleep. There was no thermostat control in the room to adjust it. One of the nurses said it was kept purposely cold to control pathogens. If that was the case, then it was not working very well because there were red Bio Hazard signs outside a number of the rooms. These were most likely MRSA (bacteria not responsive to antibiotics) infected patients or patients with other infective issues. My mother's bed listed 5 to 8 degrees to the left and gave her the feeling that she was about to roll off the bed. When she brought it to the attention of the Hospital Staff they ignored her. It never was corrected. When I threatened to raise h*** with the hospital administration over it, mom said not to and to let it go as she would try to deal with it. It was a mixed bag here. Some nurses and other staff were very kind and attentive. Others, should never be allowed to care for people. The doctors can be arrogant and insensitive. My mother felt she was well enough to return home, but the 'house' doctor did not agree. He sneered at her and said, 'You will die if you leave here.' She left, flourished, and did not pass away to his dissatisfaction, I suppose. It can seem a bit prison-like here. And, the Administration dominates your care to the point of smothering you. They won't let you leave unless they think you are ready with very little input desired from the patient. In Summary, you will find some very nice caregivers here, but too may of the others, also. The Administration is a bit like that of a Gulag or Concentration Camp. They won't let you make calls because there is no phone in your room. And, the food stinks. I guess they do get results medical wise, but there must be a kinder, more sensitive way to obtain them. Would not recommend, especially for Washington patients.

    Northwest Specialty Hospital
It is an excellent hospital. It is small and the staff is the best. They are excellent. They are just the best. They saw me very quickly.
