    Digestive Health Clinic
    I scheduled an appointment six weeks
    in advance and arranged for the necessary 1 ½ days off work. The
    clinic called shortly after my appointment was scheduled and left a
    phone message requesting a call back to answer questions about my
    appointment. It took almost three weeks and six return phone calls
    before I was able to speak with clinic staff and answer their
    questions. These questions were standard health history questions,
    nothing special or particular. The clinic then sent test- specific
    instructions and some paperwork to fill out and bring with me to my
    appointment���many of the same questions I had already answered over
    the phone.
    At 5:09 pm. the day before my
    appointment the clinic called and left a phone message stating that
    because I had not returned their calls to answer questions about my
    appointment they had canceled the appointment and I would have to
    reschedule. I have a recording of this phone call and will provide
    it on request. Of course it was too late to revise the arrangements
    I had made to miss work for this test and the clinic doesn't answer
    their phone after 4:30 pm., so I was stuck with debiting 12 hours of
    my allowable time from work for nothing. I called the clinic back and
    left a message that I would not be rescheduling the appointment; I
    had in fact spoken to them two weeks earlier to answer all of their
    questions; and I would be discussing their poor practices with my

    the test left a phone message to tell me it appeared there was a
    scheduling problem, and additionally, the clinic did not have the
    equipment to do my test. The nurse went on to say if I would call and
    speak to her there were a couple of other things they might be able
    to offer me and we could reschedule the appointment to discuss it. I
    have a recording of this phone call and will provide it on request.

    employed by clinic staff are fraudulent and the medical practices
    employed by this clinic are hazardous to patients and detrimental to
    the health of any person that receives care or services from this

    communicate with patients and referring physicians.
    The clinic is imposing costs on
    patients without providing goods or services.
    The clinic habitually deviates
    from standard practices regarding the use of required instruments
    or equipment and does not follow physician orders regarding
    diagnostic tests.
    Clinic staff routinely provides
    false information to physicians and purposely creates false medical

    with orders to perform a specific diagnostic test using specific
    equipment and standard practices. I made an appointment with this
    medical facility in good faith and committed to 12 hours of lost
    work compensation in good faith, with the expectation of receiving a
    specific medical service and product. I was diligent and persistent
    in following clinic procedures and responding to clinic requests
    regarding this appointment. My expectation was that this facility
    would follow state and federal business and medical regulations.
    My experience was that this facility
    routinely conducts business in a fraudulent manner and did not plan
    to abide by standard medical practices with regard to following
    physicians orders and the creation and maintenance of medical
    records. In my opinion leading a person to believe that they will
    receive specific goods or services and then refusing to provide the
    good or service is fraud. In my case 12 hours of lost paid employment
    is $300.00. Additionally, scheduling medical procedures without
    planning to use the required equipment and then telling the patient
    at the last minute that maybe there is some other service (not
    ordered by the physician) that can substitute for what was ordered by
    the physician is irresponsible at best and I believe constitutes
    malpractice. And finally, knowingly providing a physician with false
    information regarding patient compliance with physicians orders and
    intentionally creating a false medical record is illegal. In my case
    it seems the purpose was to retaliate against me for disclosing my
    intention to relate these events to my physician by attempting to
    undermine my relationship with my physician.
    It is my observation through reviewing
    complaints made by other patients that my experience with this clinic
    is not unique. It is apparent to me that the manner in which this
    clinic conducts business and provides medical services is
    reprehensible and illegal and I am requesting corrective action
    administered through the American Medical Association, a complete and
    sincere letter of apology from the clinic, and restitution equal to
    the amount of money lost through this clinic's incompetence.

    Digestive Health Clinic
    I made my appointment which was scheduled in a reasonable time. The inital staff was friendly. I then met with Dr. Schutz. I did not feel comfortable with the information I was given or felt that he was listening or understanding me. He told me to change a few things and they would call back in two weeks and go from there. Approximately 4 weeks later, I finally got a call back with the nurse asking how I was doing. I told her I wasn't feeling better but that I wanted to be seen by another doctor as I didn't feel comfortable with Dr. Schutz, the nurse indicated that I could not switch doctors and that all the doctors were of the same opinion, which I wasn't sure what was.
    At this point, I'm not sure what to do. I have heard and see good things about the clinic from Dr. Tanabe and Dr. Mallory, and with only two digestive clinics in town, I'm currently evaluating my options.

    Digestive Health Clinic
    It was mostly a waste of time and money. I knew more than she did about my history. She had no new suggestions of consequence. I have tried the laxatives she suggested which help my motility problems. I still have no answers about my abdominal pain although I've had every test in the book. I feel the doctor should have been consulted or come in to talk to me.
