    Fork Refrigeration Inc
Fork Refrigeration is the provider for our Home Warranty and they were a good contractor for the Warranty company to choose. The manager/owner came within the hour of my reporting our failed furnace to the Home Warranty company and then obtained consent from the Warranty company to replace the furnace within a day. It was then only a couple more days before our furnace was replaced quickly, cleanly, and professionally.

    HILLIARD'S HEATING & PLUMBING
When I told a friend that I had lined-up Hilliard's for plumbing and furnace work, he grimaced, saying, "They over-charge." Because of his warning, I almost canceled the service calls, but positive reviews on Angie's List convinced me to give the company a chance. Now, I wish I hadn't. Based on my experience, Hilliard's does, indeed, over-charge; and the quality of their work is less than stellar. I have no serious qualms with the technician's, themselves, who were friendly and appeared qualified. The furnace repairman knew his Carrier furnace and performed honest labor. However, the furnace was exceptionally dirty and should have received a thorough cleaning. The little hand brush used to sweep-out some dust did not adequately address the issue. A canister vacuum should have been used, as furnace technicians from other companies had employed before. In this instance, Hilliard's did not have, or at least did not use, the right equipment. As regards the plumbing work, Hilliard's sent out two men for what should have been a one-man job. The repairs were not complicated; one person could have easily accomplished the work. (In my 30 years of being a home owner, I've never had more than one plumber be sent to complete a service call; some jobs being much more involved than the one at issue). The furnace technician spent one hour on premises doing his work. The plumber and his helper were also on site for only one hour. Yet I was billed for 5.5 hours labor: the additional "labor" being driving vans approximately 10 miles each way, to and from the service address. I'm sorry: it doesn't take 2.5 hours to traverse the miles involved; and that driving -- in my book, and by prior experience with other companies -- certainly shouldn't be charged at the full, professional rate. (In contrast, Nolan Heating, out of Colfax, WA, does excellent work and only adds a minimal charge for traveling out of the regular service area: $9.00 to travel 20 miles out-of-area on their last service call.) Be advised, if you plan to hire Hilliard's Heating and Plumbing, you'll be paying the full professional rate of $85-an-hour for them to travel to and from the work site. Also be aware, the time for travel will likely be exaggerated beyond explanation. And the quality of work may well be marginal, as it was in my case. We all have that sixth-sense to know when we have received honest service from a company, and when a company's overriding reason for being is to make a buck. By my assessment, Hilliard's Heating and Plumbing falls into this latter category. I have paid my bill, but I will not be providing the payee my future business or referrals. There are better companies in the region to deal with.

    Gropp Heating Air & Electric
The technician was very professional and prompt. The response time was great given that it was after hours. The fee seems reasonable for two new motors, after hours fees and labor. The technician cleaned up after himself and even took off his shoes before entering my two units to keep the mud/snow off my floors. My tenants tell me that both fireplaces work 100% better now.

    Gropp Heating Air & Electric
When I called to make the appointment, they needed to call me back to verify a time because they wanted to get their guy who was most experienced with hot-water radiator. I called on Tuesday and they were able to get me an appointment on Thursday.
They showed up a few minutes before the 8:00 am appointment time and were ready to start work immediately. First I showed them the radiator that was giving me problems and the boiler. They mentioned that the boiler was really old and that I could save a lot on my heating bills by upgrading to a newer, more efficient model. We turned the thermostat up to get the system going and they tested the temperature on the bad radiator and several other radiators.
They then suggested that the problem was air in the radiator and proceeded to open the bleed valve to see how much air came out. They asked for a cup to catch any water to preclude spilling on the floor. After bleeding the air out, the radiator worked much better. The technicians then recommended bleeding the other radiators and showed me how they did it so I can do it myself each fall.
    Summary:
Good: On time, knowledgable, showed me how I can do it myself in the future, careful not to let water spill on my floor
Neutral: Didn't have a container to catch the water and so asked to borrow a cup.

    REDINGER HEATING & COOLING
They provided a bid very quickly, and it was accurate.  The new furnace arrived in a few days and according to schedule.  They began work at the date and time they said they would, and finished when anticipated.  About the one thing we didn't expect (although, in hindsight, was totally reasonable) was that they would take time away from the house to make the new ducting necessary.
They were prompt, courteous, and informative.  We got all the supporting paperwork in a packet to allow us to apply for the various rebates for which we are eligible.

    Fork Refrigeration Inc
I contacted Fork Refrigeration to have them look at my furnace that seemed to be running funny (the exhaust had a funny smell). They had a guy out pretty quick (within in a couple days) who quickly diagnosed the problem as incomplete combustion due to a rusted out heat exchanger. He was really helpful in explaining to me what was wrong, the evidence for the fault, and how it led to the problems and symptoms I observed. This made me very comfortable with them. The repair guy then gave me an overview of possible options, repair or replacement. Within a day or so the manager called me and was really patient in explaining my options and the pros and cons for each of them (repair or replacement). I did not feel any pressure to go with the higher cost option over the cheaper repair option. They made sure I had the information I needed to make my decision. I then decided to go with replacement. They were prompt and careful and clean with their installation. There were some problems with the billing and some vibration. They fixed the bill very quickly and were very patient with me accepting without question my observations of vibrations that turned out to be related to the inducer fan and the exhaust pipes. They came back serveral times and stated many times they were happy to come back until everything was fine. I am very pleased with them. Every fact and price I checked independantly of what they told me was correct and proper.
