Car Dealership reviews in Meridian

Larry H Miller Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Boise
We recently purchased a car for our teenager from Larry H Miller Dodge of Boise. The experience was horrible and not what we expected from a dealership. We had numerous issues with this dealership (the car being offered on the internet but not available for sale, the add-ons during the sale that a customer can not opt out of, etc) but that is not the focus of this review. The focus of this review is customer safety. Larry H. Miller does not seem concerned about safety. When we finally got to drive the car that we bought, the salesman assured us that the car was in good working condition and that it had passed the inspection with no problems. We did not see the report from the repair shop nor were we told what was fixed and what was not. The car had two major safety issues with it. First, it had a recall from GM. The dealership told us about the recall but did not tell us the serious safety issues associated with the recall (see the recall information below). The dealership did not tell us that the car would roll while in park due to the fact that gear shifting cable was broken. After we drove the car off the lot, the car rolled 4 out of 5 times after being put into park. This includes once in our garage after my teenager got out of the vehicle and once at the Pontiac dealership when we went to have it fixed on our own. As per the recall itself: If the transmission shift cable fractures while the vehicle is being driven, the transmission gear selection may not match the indicated gear and the vehicle may move in an unintended or unexpected direction, increasing the risk of a crash. Furthermore, when the driver goes to stop and park the vehicle, despite selecting the PARK position, the transmission may not be in PARK. If the vehicle is not in the "PARK" position there is a risk the vehicle will roll away as the driver and other occupants exit the vehicle or anytime thereafter. A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders. This is such an issue that CBS News did a story on dealerships that sell cars to people without telling them the consequences of recalls (or fixing them first) [*** Link removed ***] Second, the car had a bad cracked windshield. This is a violation of Idaho Code 49-902 Scope and Effect (1) It shall be unlawful for any person to drive, or move, or for the owner to cause or knowingly permit to be driven or moved on any highway any vehicle or combination of vehicles which is in an unsafe condition as to endanger any person, or which does not contain those parts or is not at all times equipped with the lamps and other requirements in proper condition and adjustment, as required by the provisions of this chapter, or which is equipped in any manner in violation of the provisions of this chapter. The dealership not only let us drive the car from the lot, it did not make the appointment to get the windshield fixed for almost a week (the salesman forgot to make the appointment). When the windshield repairman installed a new windshield he said he was surprised that the dealership let us drive it off the lot as this was a safety concern. He said that 40% of the structural integrity of the top of the car is because of the windshield. Additionally, the airbags use the windshield as a backstop to ensure that passengers are kept in the vehicle. Although it is not required by law to fix safety recalls before a dealership sales a car, we think that it is a serious concern that Larry H Miller Dodge of Boise did not disclose the seriousness of this recall for a car for my teenager.

    Peterson BMW
Overall disappointing experience, I expected more from a high-end brand dealership. I guess I was just naiive and should have expected the same as I did when I bought my first $3000 car from a dealership in a shack, then I wouldn't have been disappointed. May also be because I just bought a 20K trade-in they didn't make a lot money on and didn't expect to come back for services. "Real" BMW customers may have a better experience.
Bought a used vehicle (not a BMW, was a trade in) from them. Set up appointment using their online booking system, showed up and had to wait for 40 mins for a sales person to be called in I guess. At least one of the service people let me look at the car while I waited.
Asked during test drive if there was more than the one key, salesman told me he'd check. Didn't hear anything about it until day of closing the sale, when he tells me previous owner still had other keys to the car. Would have like to know this before closing. They did contact previous owner and got the keys to me a week later. Car was shoddily detailed (thick layer of dust and "stuff" on dash board etc), was promised they'd redo the detailing before I took possession of car, car still had dirt all over dashboard, dirt on panels etc. I bought the vehicle in December, come early January received a call that they had gotten the original mileage on the title documents wrong, fair enough, I called and left a message with the miles at time of sale as requested. Then got a text a week later asking for current miles, texted him back with current ODO reading, was told to expect title middle to late January. Still hadn't heard anything by 1/26. Sent email asking for update and did receive phone call 1/28 with apology and that it was now up to state to issue title. Also, during test drive I noticed rattle noise from the back, salesman told me it was the dealer plate rattling and that it did it all the time - I had to trust him since I couldn't remove it during the test drive and rattle only occurred at hwy speed. As I drove away from dealership after taking possession rattle was still there. Sun-roof is also leaking, I guess that wasn't part of their multi-point pre-sales inspection they touted.

I've purchased two cars at Fairly's and have loved them both! The Camaro I now own is beautiful and I bought it like-new. Whenever it needs warranty work they take care of the details and even provide a free loaner car, whether they are working on it in their shop or taking it over to the Chevrolet dealer. Very nice people in both Sales and Service!

    Bronco Motors Nissan
This was a Nissan dealership, but we bought a KIA Sorento.  Overall the experience was good, but my two complaints were not knowing for sure what they had done to "check-out" the car and the salesman was annoying - shared way too much personal info.  He wasn't knowledgeable about the KIA we bought and couldn't tell me for certain if they had changed the oil and rotated/aligned the tires.  It turned out the dealership had done the appropriate maintenance,  but I had to pay to have someone confirm.

    Peterson's Stampede Dodge
I have purchased 3 vehicles from Peterson Stampede in Nampa. Once I found the car or truck I wanted, it took about 2 to 2 1/2 hours from start to finish to get out the door, which is pretty good for an auto dealer. They always shop for the best interest rate when I finance a vehicle. Their service department staff is very helpful and friendly. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new or used vehicle.

We tried to buy the truck through the main Lithia in Boise. We worked out a deal in the dealership, went home, got the old truck to trade in and wasted our whole afternoon doing this. Once we got there, they backed out of the deal. Then, we went to their other dealership L2 (which is awesome by the way), they made the deal work and asked to get the new truck there for us. The main Lithia store would not even let them get the truck for us since we were not there in person. We did not want to go there in person since they were so rude and unprofessional. When I called to get the manager's manager's name, they would not give it to me! They have horrible customer service- I would never buy a car from them or take our new vehicle there for service. Will use another Ford dealership!

Our last repair was a work van that needed some TLC and they always do a great job. My Saab went in a few times and they took great care of it too.
