I was very pleased with their service in the store. Very informative and knew their products. I called 2 days later (Saturday) and told them I decided to buy the sofa, put it on a credit card and they delivered it on Monday morning, at no additional charged. The cost of the sofa was less than comparables at other stores.

When we arrived at the store, Skyler Goody greeted us immediately and asked how he could help.  I explained that we were looking for a leather couch and love seat.  I also explained that walking all around the store was difficult for me because my back hurts.  Skyler took us by a number of pieces of furniture that he thought might interest us, all in a direct route to other leather couches and love seats.  He was very sensitive to my need to keep walking to a minimum.  Skyler explained the pros and cons of different materials and explained that Ashley Furniture was all built in the U.S. with parts from global sources.  He explained that bonded leather would last about as long as fabric and that leather, properly maintained, should last nearly a lifetime.   After making our choice, Skyler quoted a full "half off" as the sale price for us.  We were delighted!  Our furniture has been ordered and we look forward to the free delivery they provide. Skyler explained that our local store was family owned and operated.  It is important to us to shop locally and knowing that the store is family owned made a difference to us.  We never felt rushed of pressured, only welcomed as a family would feel.   Skyler has a wonderful sense of humor and is an asset to the store.

Estimator came out and talked about what we wanted for size and design. They emailed us a plan which we then tweaked to exactly what we wanted. Went to the shop and picked out our wood and finishings from samples. Unit was installed a few days later than original estimated, but is just beautiful and well made. We had a difficult time finding what we were looking for in any area furniture stores and also catalogs. The installation crew was friendly - came back the next day to drill a couple more cord ports into the unit at our request. It was overall a good experience.

I had lost my ergonomic pillow and was in a hurry to replace it or I wouldn't have paid Romaine's steep price tag. The lost one had cost me around $30 some seven years back. This new one was $100. But it was Tempur-pedic. I figured it would work much better. When it turned out to be so firm that it literally hurt to sleep on, I took it back. Two days had passed. The seller explained that although the item is guaranteed, just as he'd promised, a guarantee doesn't mean you can have your money back if it doesn't work. What guaranteed does mean, I'm not sure. The eventual outcome wasn't horrible: The seller never budged on the no money back policy. It's written (in tiny print) on their receipt. I'd missed it, but it's there. It's also under glass on the counter. I'd missed that too. Instead they gave me two items that each retailed at the shop for what that Tempur-pedic pillow had. On Amazon those items list for about 50% the Romaine's price, so in effect the shop gave me the means to get my money back if I'm willing to do some work.  For me the moral of the story is: you bet, shop local. It's the right thing to do. It costs a bit more, but more of the money stays in your community. Local retailers tend to mean well, and they'd like you to be satisfied. However!!! Not every local retailer believes it's his job, even at twice the price, to provide the same quality of service you'd get from an online retailer.

The problem I had was not with the appliance or the sales people at the store. They treated me very well.   My problem was with the installer. The moment he walked in the house he started trying to get out of installing the dishwasher. First he looked at the old one and said he couldn't do it because the hookups weren't comparable. I told him I paid the extra money so I wanted it installed. Then he pulled the old one out and told me I would have to have it re-plumed because they were different hookups. I reminded him again about the installation fee I had already paid. He then figured it out, but started putting down my mothers house, right in front of her. He acted pretty upset because I told him I paid to have it installed and I wanted in installed. I basically had to make him finish the installation. Eventually he finished the installation without having to use any parts that didn't already come with the machine. Apparently the manufacturer included extra parts for just that reason.  But the guy was rude and offensive to both me and my mother. I was glad I could be there so my 80 year old mother didn't have to deal with this guy alone. While I believe I may use bingham and sons in the future for floor coverings or something like that, I wont buy an appliance from them again if that person is the one who will install it.

We purchased an Englander King sized mattress from Romaine's approximately seven years ago. One of the main things we were looking for was a great warranty, since a good mattress is costly. The one we chose had a 15 year warranty.  After seven years, the mattress was so 'broken down' we woke up in pain every morning. We called Romaine's to inquire about this, since we had a 15 year warranty, and they said they would come out and pick up our mattress, take it back to their store, re-stuff the pillow top, and deliver it back. So they came out and did that.  It felt great for about another month. Then it was back to the way it was, broken down, and feeling as if you are sleeping in a hammock, and waking up in pain.  We decided to go into the store to talk to them. They said that's what we should expect with a pillow top mattress!  That we should expect to feel as though we are in a hammock! We said that's not why we bought the mattress! If we wanted to sleep in a hammock, we would have bought hammocks! We were in a lot of pain, our mattress was broken down, and we wanted them to honor their warranty. They said we had to be able to measure 2 1/2 inches in the lowest part of the mattress that was breaking down, in order for them to honor their warranty, and they'd never seen that in the whole history of their store. We were able to measure just under that, but clearly the mattress was not fit to sleep on, when examining the mattress, even the untrained eye can tell that the middle-side of the mattress had no support left at all, and was completely broken. They said all they could do was to give us a "great deal" on a new mattress!!!  Why would we buy from them again?! They wouldn't even honor their so-called 15 year warranty on our first mattress!  We shouldn't have had to buy a new mattress; they should have honored their 15 year warranty when this mattress was clearly broken and unable to be slept on!  So since they wouldn't honor their warranty, we ended up buying a new mattress, from someone else, and will never shop at Romaine's again, nor recommend them to anyone!

We paid a premium because of timing issues. We discussed the wood type and price. It was all agreed to and we signed a the contract. Low and behold they had changed the wood type on the contract without saying a word. They cheated us on the cabinet wood type. Yes we did not read the complete contract when we signed. A reputable company would not have changed the verbal agreement without bringing it to our attention. The cabinets met our expectations and were installed professionally. And on time. This experience still upsets us.

My great grandmother bought a reclining chair from this company. They offered delivery for $25. However they said that they wouldn't be available to deliver until the following Monday. We said that was fine. So they told us they would deliver early afternoon on Monday. Monday came and no one showed up. We called and asked and they said the truck had left already and didn't take our chair and another customers furniture. They said they will get it figured out and call us back. A few hours passed and we called back. Same story. We received a call at 6pm that evening saying that they didn't have their truck today and that I was told that they only said they would TRY to deliver it today, which wasn't what they had said. The man asked me when would be a good time. I said tomorrow afternoon would be fine. He asked someone in the background when they would have the truck back and a lady yelled "Just tell them tomorrow!" This company seems to get angry over they're own incompetence. Would not recommend taking their delivery if you do decide to visit them.

About a year and half ago we purchased a LEATHER sofa from Blackers being told it was REAL LEATHER; we also bought the additional warranty. Now the arm of the sofa is peeling, real leather does not peel!  Blackers will not doing anything to stand behind the furniture or warranty they sold to us. We have turned all e-mails correspondences, invoice and warranty over  to Idaho Attorney General Office.  If you are having or  had the same problems with Blackers please contact the Idaho Attorneys General Office.  At this point, I do not have any confidence BLACKERS FURNITURE.

Do not use this company. Read above! You may come to my house and see them! Phone first! The shop was located next to the Grape Vine but  is not located there anymore. So, the address listed is wrong. I hear that it exists elsewhere In the Chub-Pocatello area. The date given for the work done is approx.
