Hospital Care reviews in Idaho Falls

Mountain View Hospital - Idaho Falls
I had a c-section in 2011 and was very pleased with the staff and facilities. When my son had his tonsils out in 2013, it was done at Mountain View and we were again very pleased with the staff. They kept us well informed the entire time and brought us everything we needed after the surgery. they went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of.

It all started out with me taking my 9 month old son to his pediatrician for severe diarrhea. The doctor's office checked my son's water levels and determined that the diarrhea was so severe, he was extremely dehydrated and had to be taken to the hospital to have an IV done to get his water levels back up. When we arrived at the hospital the nurses and other staff were quick to get us into a room to do the IV. It was definitely not a pleasant experience watching my baby have an IV inserted, but the nurses did an excellent job at getting it in. Every nurse that we had was so friendly and seemed genuinely concerned for my son's well being. We stayed overnight until my son's hydration levels went back up and his stool sample culture was completed. The doctor came to our room in the morning and told me that there was no bacterial or parasitic infection found in the stool culture. That meant that my son just a bad viral infection causing gastroenteritis (stomach flu). The doctor advised me to give my son plenty of fluids and to also add in some probiotics to my son's food. After that we left and after following doctor's orders, my son got better within a few days.

I took my child in for breathing problems in the middle of the night. He was having trouble breathing and he was showing retraction in his ribs. We went to the emergency department, where we quickly saw a doctor who ordered a breathing treatment with a respiratory therapist. The therapist showed up quickly, gave the treatment, and we were on our way. Sadly, although they treated my son quickly, they did not gather any of my information, so I never received a bill. I decided to be honest so I called the billing department and attempted to give them my information. They told me to call back in a few days after we were in their system. Of course I forgot because I am busy and then finally about a year later I remembered we had never paid the bill so I called again. We finally got the bill and the insurance worked out, but I think they were pretty sloppy not to have taken my information and then turned me away rather than collecting it the next day and entering it themselves later.

Everyone was nice and friendly but it took a long time for the nurses to respond to my call light at times. Billing was not streamline and a little confusing. There is not a lot of leeway if you can't pay right away. Not a full service hospital, more like a surgical center because they have no emergency services. Ok for what they do though. Nice and clean. It would have been nice to have a full service cafeteria for my visiting family, the vending machines get old fast. Other than that things were ok.

The room was tiny, the food was abominable, the nurses were often float nurses from another floor so they often had no idea how to administer care. This was frustrating because although I knew they were busy - we're still paying top dollar for subpar care. The nurses also disagreed with the doctor's plan, and instead of talking to him, they would complain to me. It was very frustrating. Overall, it was an acceptable experience, but nothing fantastic. I was starving the whole week because their food was nutritionally lacking (iceberg lettuce for the vegetable?!) and nasty to taste.

Everything from start to finish went smooth. Everyone was kind from admissions to discharge. Nurses were very professional and knowledgeable and made me feel relaxed and comfortable despite starting out very nervous and upset about this particular surgery. I liked the fact that they provided a family liaison to keep my family and friends apprised of my situation and whereabouts from pre-surgery to post-surgery care. They even offered them snacks and blankets while they waited. This was very imports as the surgery lasted several hours and my family was just as nervous and upset as I was. The room was comfortable and clean and the staff from housekeeping to nursing made my stay very comfortable. I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone.

I had heard nightmare stories about ERIMC but needed to deliver there because they have a NICU and my other two children were in the NICU. The rooms were awesome and the nursing staff was the best I have ever had. This was the most amazing experience of my life everyone always had a smile on their face and if I needed anything they were right there and got it for me in a heartbeat. I love the stork dinner that they provided and really felt like my family mattered. I left EIRMC feeling like these people were my friends and really cared about myself and my family. Best experience ever and I will go back in a heartbeat.

When I got there they have you check in and after that they had me in the waiting room for about 2 or 3 minutes was all. The actual procedure took around 40 min. The nurse that did the ultra sound was very friendly.

My wife was induced for labor at this facility, they provided her with reasonable accommodations. It was just like any other hospital we have been to but what stood out to us was the nursing staff in the Womens Center, each one was very attentive to my wife during each stage of the birthing process. We never had to ask for anything they anticipated what was needed and overall took really excellent care of us.

I have noticed charges in there that I don't think are right. They charged me for something I don't remember ever happening. I just noticed it and they are looking into it now. They are charging me $700.00 for all these visits from a doctor that never came in. He wasn't my doctor and he wasn't the one that referred me there. His office is in the hospital and my doctor's isn't. If somebody is going to get money for something they didn't do, I want it to be my doctor and not the other doctor. If it is not straightened out, I will just tell the insurance company that he never saw me. That's all it's going to take. When you live in Idaho Falls there are only 2 hospitals so you don't really have a lot of choice. The hospital itself and the people in the wound care were great. I just don't like being charged for somebody coming in that didn't actually take care of the problem. He was getting money for something he didn't even do. I don't get charged that much when I go to see my orthopedic doctor. If they don't do something about it, then I will just tell the insurance company and they like to go through people like that. The service that I got in the wound care department and the service that I have gotten at the hospital has always been A-plus service. I don't know how to rate the billing. They always treat you pretty good. It's a pretty nice hospital. I just can't understand about the bill. Maybe you should make sure you check your bill and know who's is coming in and out of the rooms. If I had a choice I would go to another hospital for services because I don't like people cheating. I don't understand these charges; to me it is Medicare fraud.
