    Rocky Mountain Supply
We were hunting for a couple of used stoves for the rentals and he said I've got two stoves that you can have. We said fine and we paid him $1000. May be it's not his fault, but it turned out that they only had one and then the second one was to come from an install of a new furnace and that guy reneged, so we only had one stove at that point and they had our money. We had asked them to continue to search for a stove for us and finally we asked them and they returned our money. Then we found someone to install the stove for us at our rental and we had the gas brought in and the stove didn't work. Then from that point on, they just made excuses and blamed in on the installer, so that stove now sits in the rental looking pretty, but it does not work. We asked to have send a technician out and it turned out that they had just resold the stove to us without checking or cleaning it. Then we've had another person try to fix it and he was unsuccessful too.

    Denning's Showkase
JR Denning was the one who assisted us. I had tried to locate the same appliances from the 2 large national big box stores in the area, and neither had them in stock. In fact, we had gone to one of the big box stores and waited over 20 minutes and could not get anyone to help us. We went to Dennings the next morning. The service was fantastic!!!! They had the washer and dryer I wanted in stock for the same price as the other stores. We then decided on a dishwasher as well. JR gave us great info on selecting a dishwasher and answered all our questions. The purchase was handled in a quick and efficient manner. We were able to purchase all 3 items and still grab lunch on my one hour lunch break! JR arranged for the delivery and installation of the dishwasher the very same day. The washer and dryer were delivered and installed the next day. They hauled away the old appliances, and cleaned everything up as well.
I am new to the area and this was my first appliance purchase. All future appliances will definitely be purchased from Dennings.

    Quixtitch Sewing
I'm excited to have Angie's List available because sometimes good businesses don't get recognized. Quixtitch Sewing is a business owned by a professional seamstress. It is not someone's hobby done at home. I've seen prom dresses, wedding dresses and many other clothes hanging in her shop.
After a friendly greeting and a short conversation I go into a room to change clothes. I return to the larger room which has a full length mirror. Ruthie and I discuss the style, the length and any other types of alterations needed. She pins the item, asks if that concurs with what we discussed. Most of the clothes I purchase need altered because I'm small and thin but I'm also past 50 years old. It's difficult to get trendy, age-appropriate clothes. I am very impressed by the quality of her work.!

We paid a premium because of timing issues. We discussed the wood type and price. It was all agreed to and we signed a the contract. Low and behold they had changed the wood type on the contract without saying a word. They cheated us on the cabinet wood type. Yes we did not read the complete contract when we signed. A reputable company would not have changed the verbal agreement without bringing it to our attention.
The cabinets met our expectations and were installed professionally. And on time.
    This experience still upsets us.

I had lost my ergonomic pillow and was in a hurry to replace it or I wouldn't have paid Romaine's steep price tag. The lost one had cost me around $30 some seven years back. This new one was $100. But it was Tempur-pedic. I figured it would work much better. When it turned out to be so firm that it literally hurt to sleep on, I took it back. Two days had passed. The seller explained that although the item is guaranteed, just as he'd promised, a guarantee doesn't mean you can have your money back if it doesn't work. What guaranteed does mean, I'm not sure.
The eventual outcome wasn't horrible: The seller never budged on the no money back policy. It's written (in tiny print) on their receipt. I'd missed it, but it's there. It's also under glass on the counter. I'd missed that too. Instead they gave me two items that each retailed at the shop for what that Tempur-pedic pillow had. On Amazon those items list for about 50% the Romaine's price, so in effect the shop gave me the means to get my money back if I'm willing to do some work.
For me the moral of the story is: you bet, shop local. It's the right thing to do. It costs a bit more, but more of the money stays in your community. Local retailers tend to mean well, and they'd like you to be satisfied. However!!! Not every local retailer believes it's his job, even at twice the price, to provide the same quality of service you'd get from an online retailer.

    Complete Comfort Beds
We bought the mattress from Complete Beds because we were in the market for looking for a GOOD mattress because I don't have the best back in the world.  Our other mattresses have been fine, but we thought that getting this type of mattress would help my back to not be so tired.  After two years of sleeping on this mattress, I was beginning to WAKE UP with really bad back pain, to the point, I could barely stand up when I put my feet on the ground.  As the day went on, I was able to move and stretch and by the time I went back to bed, my back was not hurting.  Realizing that this is the OPPOSITE effect that one should receive from their bed, I mentioned to a friend that I HATED my bed.  She has one and she said that I should check with the store and see if something was wrong with it because they do come with warranties.  I called the store in May of 2012 and spoke to Bobby, the owner/manager.  He told me that they were in the process of being bought and the company that was buying them was not working on shipping or receiving ANY beds for a while.  I thought that was weird, as to how could they do this and still SELL beds??? But who knows... He told me to call back in about a month.  That was fine, as I was going to be gone the month of June.  When I got back, I called the store in July and spoke to an employee.  I told him that I had spoke to Bobby in May and reiterated what Bobby had said.  The employee told me that Bobby was out of the office and would call me back.  He also informed me that the bed would have to be looked at by someone in their office.  I waited about 3 weeks, and because I did not hear from Bobby, I again called the store.  This time, Bobby was there and he said that at this time they had just purchased several mattresses and were expecting a shipment in so he would call me back when they got in.  He did not say anything about coming to inspect the mattress and I did not question him as he is the owner.  I waited about a month and then called the store again, as I had not heard back with the so called promise of "getting in touch with me when they arrive".  Bobby was not in and I again spoke to an employee.  I reiterated the entire story so far and he again said that I would have to talk to Bobby, but they do need to come out for an inspection.  He promised to have Bobby call me.  A month later, as I had not heard from them, I called and got a hold of Bobby.  He said he would set up an appointment.  He ended coming the next week and looked at the indents, told us that we had the wrong frame and that we should have got the right frame when we bought the bed.  WE WERE NOT TOLD THAT WE NEEDED A SPECIAL FRAME, OR ELSE WE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN ONE AS WE WERE SPENDING ALOT OF MONEY ON A MATTRESS, WE WOULD HAVE SPENT $400 TO MAKE IT WORK RIGHT.  This was at the end of August.  My Husband went down to their store and bought a frame.  This helped the bed for about 2 weeks.  I called the store again and said that the frame had not solved the issue, however I was again told that I needed to talk to Bobby about that and he was not there.  After approximately two weeks, I called the store again and sppke to Bobby who said he would have someone come out and inspect the bed at a certain time.  When that day and time rolled around, no-one showed.  I called the store and talked to the employee who said "oh, our inspector is doing a job somewhere else today."  The employee hung up and then called me back with a new time and date.  When the inspector showed up the next week (in October), he was very apologetic that he had missed the appointment but didn't realize that he had an inspection in town, as he was doing one in Driggs on that day.  I told him that was ok, lets just get it measured.  He measured with a stick and took pictures of the bed.  It stayed on the frame.  He said that it did look very bad and that there probably shouldn't be any problem with the warranty.  As I had not heard back from the store after a couple of weeks, I went into the store.  Bobby was there and said that he had sent in the paperwork and was waiting for the approval.  I asked how long that would take (as this was into November).  He said that any day he should hear from them.  He even told me that someone elses warranty mattress had just showed up.  He said he the company that he gets the mattresses from is pretty unorganized and they alone determine if it is under warranty or not.  He said he would call me as soon as he heard back from them.  In December, as I had not heard from them, I called and spoke to an employee.  I was getting very frustrated at this time.  They said that Bobby wasn't in and I would have to talk to him about simply getting a refund.  The day after Christmas, I called and spoke to Bobby.  I said that I would just bring the mattress back and they could just give me a refund and I would go get another mattress somewhere else.  At this time, Bobby informed me that it really wasn't his store's responsibility for the warranty.  They only did it for "customer service".  I asked if I could call the company then directly.  He told me by all means, go ahead.  I asked him WHO he had sent my records to and he said that there are a lot of people at the company, and you just have to go thru customer service,  I asked for any PO or # that was associated with my claim and he did not have anything.  He gave me their number.  I called the company and they were closed for the break.  There were three people who I could transfer to for customer service.  I picked one and left a message.  The VM said she would be back on Dec. 27th.  At 9:00 am on Dec. 27th, I received a call from the girl at the company.  She said she had got my message and has searched her email for any records from Bobby and had not received anything in the past year.  I asked if it could of been with anyone else int he company, she said no.  She said she had sent off an email to Bobby requesting the paperwork.  I asked that she keep me informed of what was happening and she said she would, which she did a terrific job of doing.  After she got the paperwork from Bobby, she denied the claim.  I asked if I could take the pictures and send them in and she said yes.  She sent me the instructions, mattress has to be on the floor, picture taken of back and front.  Use string and ruler or tape measure to determine the amount of indent.  After I sent her the pictures, she approved the warranty and got me set up with a new mattress.  It was delivered from SLC and set up in my house by the end of January.
It was very aggravating and frustrating to work with Bobby.  His employee's were much more helpful then he was.  He was full of excuse after excuse after excuse.  Not a good way to run a business.  Needless to say, with the new mattress, I am able to stand straight up every morning, however I WILL NEVER SET FOOT OR BUY ANOTHER MATTRESS FROM BOBBY AT COMPLETE COMFORT BEDS.

This company is very nice and they helped me with finding what I wanted at a good price. They were very careful and patient when they delivered my appliances. They took the old stuff outside when they were done.

Estimator came out and talked about what we wanted for size and design. They emailed us a plan which we then tweaked to exactly what we wanted. Went to the shop and picked out our wood and finishings from samples. Unit was installed a few days later than original estimated, but is just beautiful and well made. We had a difficult time finding what we were looking for in any area furniture stores and also catalogs. The installation crew was friendly - came back the next day to drill a couple more cord ports into the unit at our request. It was overall a good experience.

We purchased an Englander King sized mattress from Romaine's approximately seven years ago. One of the main things we were looking for was a great warranty, since a good mattress is costly. The one we chose had a 15 year warranty.  After seven years, the mattress was so 'broken down' we woke up in pain every morning. We called Romaine's to inquire about this, since we had a 15 year warranty, and they said they would come out and pick up our mattress, take it back to their store, re-stuff the pillow top, and deliver it back. So they came out and did that.  It felt great for about another month. Then it was back to the way it was, broken down, and feeling as if you are sleeping in a hammock, and waking up in pain.  We decided to go into the store to talk to them. They said that's what we should expect with a pillow top mattress!  That we should expect to feel as though we are in a hammock! We said that's not why we bought the mattress! If we wanted to sleep in a hammock, we would have bought hammocks! We were in a lot of pain, our mattress was broken down, and we wanted them to honor their warranty. They said we had to be able to measure 2 1/2 inches in the lowest part of the mattress that was breaking down, in order for them to honor their warranty, and they'd never seen that in the whole history of their store. We were able to measure just under that, but clearly the mattress was not fit to sleep on, when examining the mattress, even the untrained eye can tell that the middle-side of the mattress had no support left at all, and was completely broken. They said all they could do was to give us a "great deal" on a new mattress!!!  Why would we buy from them again?! They wouldn't even honor their so-called 15 year warranty on our first mattress!  We shouldn't have had to buy a new mattress; they should have honored their 15 year warranty when this mattress was clearly broken and unable to be slept on!  So since they wouldn't honor their warranty, we ended up buying a new mattress, from someone else, and will never shop at Romaine's again, nor recommend them to anyone!

The overall experience was pleasurable.  They were very helpful in picking the material.  They picked up the sofa and chair when they said they would and delivered the finished furniture at the time they said.  They were able to answered all of our questions about the material and the process.  We are going to used their services again next year.
