Coeur d' Alene Pet Resort & Doggie Day Care
I have taken my large dog for years and had always been extremely happy with them. Last year, when my dog wet his bed (they threw the entire pad and covering out), I asked them why they did not take him out as they used to do. They informed me they no longer had 24/7 care and supervision. That was one of they reasons I picked them and also because the kennel and environment did not smell. There was a very strong noticeable smell of urine last year.

    Legacy Animal Medical Center
My dog loves the vet, it's so weird. The staff knows our dog well and she is always excited to see them. After a terrible experience boarding our pup at pet resort, we were concerned about boarding her here overnight. When we picked her up she was just as happy and playful as ever! They take time out to play with her, give her lots of attention and treats, and send her home with a report card of how she did overnight. They are so wonderful! A little pricier than other offices but in my opinion not by much and totally and completely worth it! Thank you Legacy!

Coeur d' Alene Pet Resort & Doggie Day Care

I initially liked this place opposed to other local and quot;pet resortsand quot; because it had an outdoor/indoor dog area for the dogs to play and to use the bathroom; as our pup was already trained to 'go 'outside we didn't want to break that habit by forcing her to go indoors. The staff was very friendly and our dog really loved her trial day (she was there for 4 hours), man she was tired after playing all day! We were thrilled that even though we had to leave town for so long, at least our dog wouldn't be bored!

Our problem arose once we got home and came to pick up our pup. She was obviously excited to see us but she was acting very strange, we thought it was probably just because of the trauma of us leaving for the week but once we got her home we realized that she was so dirty and smelled of urine so bad that there must be more to why she was acting funny.

Her dog crate which she sleeps in every night, was COVERED in dry urine. And her dog bed, which is inside her crate was so soaked thoroughly with urine that it was apparent that it had not been washed in days (at least!). We had to throw it out completely because it was so terrible. As my fumes started to boil I noticed that her face had gashes in it, all around her little nose, and one of her front legs had a big gash on it. Now, when I dropped her off, the staff was very nice, they were aware that she had just been through surgery; having been spayed and dew claws removed, her wounds were still susceptible to infection and they assured me they would watch them closely. After bringing her home and realizing how bad her condition was it was obvious to me that they had not followed through with my instructions.

I first contacted the pet resort with a phone call within a few days of bringing our pup home. When I called I asked if she had been in any altercations and asked about her bed being so dirty. The girl on the phone said she remembered my dog, but didn't know of any reason why there would be any injuries so she put me on hold and went to ask the rest of the staff. No one knew why there were scratches on her face or her legs; as for the dog bed they said they lock up the dogs for 12 hours at night so it's normal that they wet the bed, and that they just hadn't washed it that day....

The next day my dog was starting to act more normally and her anxiety was diminishing, the problem was that she began coughing and becoming lethargic, which is when I contacted my vet and brought her in. They sent us home with cough meds and antibiotics because she had been diagnosed with kennel cough. I mentioned my dog being sick to friends and two of my close dog owning friends both confirmed that after bringing their pets to this place, their dogs had come down with kennel cough. This was not at the same time my dog was there, this was months before. I am aware that not all strains of kennel cough are protected even with thorough shot records; but with everything else that had happened because of her stay and now a $150 medical bill I had had enough.

I finally went down to the Coeur d alene pet resort myself to talk to the manager about all of these issues. When I brought up the kennel cough she did say that there was an outbreak recently within their building and that other dogs have been sick. When I asked about my dogs injuries she said that my dog had a really hard time with her kennel the first night and when she tried to get out, she scratched her face, but no one could tell me that on the phone the day before. As for her stinky condition and the condition of her dog crate, she said that because our dog had a hard time in her kennel, they placed her crate in the large play room with the rest of the dogs so she would feel more comfortable, and that her crate must have and quot;gotten overlookedand quot; when they were supposed to be cleaning their beds after a 12 hour night! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I hadn't expected that my dog wouldn't mess her bed after that long in her crate, but I did expect it to be cleaned up so that she didn't have to sleep I it every night!! The manager said she tried to call us about her kennel problems but we received no phone calls or voice mails, were not out of the country, and were sure to have our cells in service the whole length of our trip. Also, throughout my conversation with the manager, she continued to answer the phone 3 times in the half hour I was there trying to talk to her. With how many animals they are taking care of daily I find it hard to believe there was no one else to answer the phone while she could address these serious problems. And if no one else was there then that is extremely poor staffing.

In the end the manager did refund us part of our money, (enough to cover our vet bill which is nice) however if it were my business I probably would have sent an apology with the refund. I thought over the last 6 months I could just let it go but I still feel like I need to put my experience out there for my community to see. I do not have words to explain how disappointed I was with my experience. I have heard good things about this business, however after my personal experience and hearing from others of their dogs getting sick from this place, I will never bring my pet here again. Bring your dog to a vet office for boarding where they may not get as much play time but at least they won't be sick or injured when you bring them home.

    Sunset Animal Hospital
Sunset was recommended to us by the folks we bought our house from, and we began using them when we got a new puppy. Sunset offers a and quot;puppy package, and quot; where you pay a discounted price in advance, and then bring the puppy in on a regular schedule and have shots and worming, etc. It also included a free puppy grooming for our standRd poodle pup, and discounted micro-chipping. We are very satisfied with Sunset Animal Hospital and will continue to use them.

    Petfinder.com
There are thousands of stories on the Happy Tails portion of their site. I use it as a forum for animals I rescue. The rescue I work with has placed over 29,000 animals in the last 15 yrs. mostly due to Petfinder.

    RATHDRUM ANIMAL CLINIC
They were excellent. I spent $150 and it was an office visit and for some labs. The vet was prompt and answered my questions. They found some stuff wrong, so we are going to have to be continuing with them for a while. They were friendly. The place was clean. I would use them again in the future.

My dog looked beautiful. She is always eager to go in so I know she is having a good experience. Angie is a professional who knows her business and loves animals. She is also a lot less expensive than some other places.
