    Hardwood Connection Inc
Last year my wife and I moved from the east coast to a 2100 sq. ft. house located near Harrison, ID. The house had old carpeting and linoleum throughout, except for a small amount of tile at the main entrance.  We wanted to replace all of the flooring with hardwood, so we searched on the internet for an installer, and were lucky enough to find Hardwood Connections of Spokane, WA, which is owned and operated by Daryl Skaife.  All of our initial contact was by phone and e-mail.  We arranged for Daryl to visit the house just prior to the closing, discussed all of the important details with him, then contracted with him to install red oak strip flooring (not pre-finished) throughout the entire house, with the exception of the tile at the main entrance and the linoleum in the laundry room (at total of about 1800 sq. ft. of living space).
I arranged to fly out to Idaho the weekend before Daryl was to start the installation.  He arrived on time in the morning of the day that we had agreed to.  He and his assistant Dan spent 1-2 days removing carpet, then proceeded with the installation of the flooring.  The wood was sanded, stained with Golden Pecan stain using a buffing machine, and then three coats of semi-glass polyurethane were applied.  The entire project took less than 2 weeks and turned out absolutely beautiful!
Throughout all of our planning discussions, Daryl would either answer the phone call at that moment or call back very soon thereafter, and e-mail responses were always very prompt.  He was very easy to talk to and had great ideas on the details.  The floor plan has many angles, yet Daryl kept perfect alignment of the boards throughout.  He made sure that the wood was the correct moisture level, and there has been no shrinkage or expansion of any of the boards in the several months since the installation.  Daryl?s attention to detail was excellent.  There is a step down from the kitchen and adjacent open hallway into the living room.  Daryl made sure to align the boards so than when you look from the kitchen (or hallway) to the living room, the boards appear to continue on with the step-down, with no offset.  The use of a buffing machine to apply the stain (using an upside-down piece of carpet as the buffer pad) resulted in a very rich, uniform color to the wood (and used half as much stain as the traditional application method).  The three coats of semi-glass polyurethane were expertly applied and there are no imperfections in the sheen of the wood.  In the kitchen and bathrooms, he installed oak quarter-round along the cabinets, which looks very nice.  All of the baseboards for the rest of the house, which had been carefully removed, was reinstalled expertly, even though it had to be raised everywhere by the thickness of the flooring boards.  The final appearance of the floor is very beautiful, and there have been no probems at all with any aspect of the floor.
I was at the house for the entire flooring installation, but, after seeing the quality of Daryl?s work and the integrity of his personality, for any future flooring projects, I would completely trust Daryl to do the entire installation without me being on the premises at all until after the project was completed.  Daryl is easy to work with, follows exactly the agreed-to schedule, and completes the job with the highest quality possible.  I cannot recommend him highly enough.
