    Scotty's Potty's Plumbing
Scott discovered that the snake could not get past a bend in the vent coming from the roof. To remove the blockage, we had to install a clean out valve, which didn't get started until ~4 pm. Scott did a great job installing and at very short notice so the problem was resolved the same day in which I set up the appointment. The cost was also much cheaper than a few other places I called.

    Budget Rooter
I called about 6-8 other local plumbing services before calling Steven with Budget Rooter & Plumbing. I tried calling plumbers close to our location and with at least several good reviews (Google search and reviews). None of the other businesses even answered or gave me a call back. Steven answered right away and gave a window from 3 to 5pm. Right at 3pm he called and said he would be about 45 minutes and ended up being about 10 minutes early. He was prompt, professional, and took care of our clog with no issues. Total service was only about 15-20 minutes. Steven was friendly, in uniform, and very knowledgeable. Don't shy away from his lack of ratings! We'll be keeping his card on hand and calling him again for future services.

Sunshine Window Cleaning & Building Maintenance
We were happy with them. When they cleaned our drains, they took all of the furniture off of our patio where it would have possibly got dirty. They moved all the furniture off. They did a really good job of cleaning out the drains. There were no dislikes about the service. When we were checking, they weren't unreasonable compared to other people we checked with. They were all right and the same range. Their price was no different from anybody else's. They were punctual.

    Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup
This was a great experience start to finish.  Came out on same day, worked around my schedule as best they could.  Completed the job in about half the time expected.  Clean, neat, no mess for me to clean up after.  Really nice and professional.

    Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup
They came at 3pm and didn't leave until 10pm when they finally were able to unclog the sewer line. They took video footage of the sewer line and emailed it to me for my records. They did very good work and were very friendly and professional. They also gave me a $20.00 discount for being a member of Angie's List.

    Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup
The service was great. Cole turned up on time, cleared a very plugged sink, was very polite and responsive to my questions, and offered other advice on important repairs that need to be made. I would definitely call him again.

    Hyde Park Plumbing LLC
After initially using a different company that gave me an incorrect diagnosis, I am certain that Jeff has saved us thousands of dollars simply due to his expertise in working with old, North End homes. When our main sewer line went out, Jeff offered a free bid with his camera and took a lot of time to show us what exactly was going on with our system. He explained it all very clearly, gave us our options and we hired him on the spot due to the reasonable price, his clear expertise and high quality equipment. That repair went perfectly and we've continued to hire him. Our pipes froze and he went above and beyond to fix the problem. Our hot water heater went out and we didn't even ask for a bid upfront because we knew it would be honest and competitive. It was.
Needless to say, I won't ever call another plumber. We know Jeff very well at this point and he truly is a great, honest business owner. Everyone needs an honest plumber and I go out of my way to tell people about him because he's helped us so much.

    Hyde Park Plumbing LLC
A broken flange and toilet overflow caused us to consult Angies list for a plumber.  Based on a couple of reviews and geography we chose Hyde Park Plumbing.  Prompt and (initially) courteous, they gave us a bid to replace the toilet and flange.  Sadly we did not scrutinize the quote carefully. The amount circled was the amount we thought we were agreeing to but the actual figure was further on
the page and was twice as high.  Admittedly our failure of due diligence caused us to buy a Cadillac when a Chevrolet would
    have served quite nicely.
Our greatest concern with this transaction occurred when the plumber panicked and called a disaster repair company.  They arrived almost immediately, catastrophizing about the amount of damage done.  We were told the mold was so bad that we were advised to not even enter the bathroom without proper respiratory gear.  He said the bathtub and vanity would have to be ripped out and the dry wall removed several inches above the floor.
The insurance adjuster disputed that and, when the floor covering was removed, very little damage had occurred.  Instead of thousands and thousands of dollars of damage, it cost us $188 to do the repairs (in addition to the outrageous amount of the plumbing bill).  This work was done by a very competent and independent handyman.
Given the scenario between the plumber and the disaster cleanup business, I can only conclude that Hyde Park was working in collusion with them, sensing there would be a highly profitable insurance claim.
I rate Hyde Park Plumbing an F and would caution anyone using him to be very careful.

    Perfect Plumbing, Heating and Air
They quoted $300 if all they had to do was use a power snake, and $600 if they had to use a hydraulic system.
I needed it cleaned NOW, and so I agreed to the power snake.
Since they told me that they charge by the book, next time I would ask when I
called what the book price was for any service I needed.
They also, unasked, went into the downstairs bathroom and flushed the toilet, looking for more work.  They asked who installed the high rise faucet on the kitchen sink [I did].
They also tried to sell me some sort of "maintainence policy" at an absurd price.
They had 2 people here, with 2 different trucks, but only enough work for one. With better allocation of employee time, they might be able to lower their prices.
The whole experience turned me off of this company, though they used to be the first to call.

    Handyman Connection
I had a very slow moving tub drain which I had already tries to clear myself, so it had been disassembled before I called the plumber. He arrived pretty promptly and ran a snake down the tub drain twice to clear it. When he pulled the hairball out it ran great. When I asked him about the price he had to call the office. I was expercting to pay aroung $50.00 to %60.00 for running the snake. I was flabbergasted when he came back with a price of $196.00. It had taken him about 15 minutes! Their ad had said to ask for the Angie's List discount. He called back and was told they had a 10% off sale going on (no one seemed to know about the Angies' List discount) so it dropped the price down to $176.00. I said it still seemed a bit high and he asked if I was a veteran. When I said no (I am disabled) he said he had a 'little room' and charged me $126.00. The next day, his office called to follow up on the work. They asked if he had opened two drains in the bathrooms and replaced the spray nozzle in the kitchen. I said no, just ran a snake down the tub drain. She seemed surprised. I won't use them again.
