Hardwood Flooring reviews in Eagle

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • We added enough hardwood to what was existing to get rid of traffic pattern marks on my otherwise almost perfect carpet. The results are astounding. The floor looks new. It has a warm glow that it did not have before refinishing and by some magic they are much, much easier to maintain. Capell's was responsive on ever issue and worked with us for a time to do the work which was the least disruptive. They return calls, show up when they say they will and are totally customer oriented. I wish all companies in our area had this ethic.

  • I contracted with Cascade Design and Build to remodel my kitchen. I had a budget to work with. I'm a senior, widowed, and was very concerned about price, quality and time. Cascade took care of every part of the remodel with experienced workers. They were neat, cleaned up every day, showed up when they said they would, called me or spoke with me every date concerning details of the project. There were some additional issues that came up and were resolved painlessly and econominically allowing my job to come within budget inspire of the changes I made. I certainly recommend CD&B to do my work again.

  • We had a major water leak occur in our home that resulted in the need to have all new hardwood flooring put in.  Our water damage company recommended A-Max Hardwood.
Overall A-Max was attentive and did a good job.  We went with the Sheyoga Hickory with UV coating.  We chose to go out of town during the job as despite the low dust claims, and because the area being redone is our main living area. I am very sensitive to dust, and this was apparent when my family and I returned home to grab changes of clothes and were in the home for 1 hour.  I sneezed and coughed for the rest of the evening.  I can only image what I would have been like had the sanding process not been dustless.  The crew did tape off, and did their best to maintain and contain the dust.  Our upstairs and non-hardwood areas were unaffected.
From the top to bottom, the staff at A-Max is friendly and helpful.  Tysen made up many samples for me as I originally thought I wanted to stay with the same dark wood look in the home with the original flooring.  Tysen made time to get the job started early by starting the demolition of our previous flooring. When Eli got the hickory laid out, he called to ensure that I wanted to stain the hickory a dark color.  He agreed to let me see the floor before staining, and gave his professional opinion not to stain the floors.  I ended up not staining, and grateful I took their advice.
The unstained UV-sealed floors, while they show spills more, look amazing and open up my living area.  I highly recommend going with a UV-coating.  There was zero smell the day after, and many people have commented on how impressed they were that there was no lingering smell.  We put back our furniture, and stayed in the home the same day A-Max completed the job.  A-Max also gave me a wonderful and safe cleaner for my floors.  I have used Method, vinegar-water, and Murphy's Oil soap as a cleaner for my previous floors.  Wanting to do the best thing for my floors, I asked A-Max for a recommendation for a good cleaner.  It leaves no residue, smell behind, and does not need rinsing.
The reason I didn't give A-Max 5 stars are for these reasons.  The crew did not do a good job of with the post-job clean.  I found staples, and nails on window ledges through out the job site, a food container in another room in my home, leftover hickory wood on my back porch, a some work-related items left behind, and dust on my kitchen countertops.  I addressed these issues with Tysen, and was told that the crew was reminded that customers are not their mother who are expected to clean up after them.  I hope future customers have a better experience with the A-Max's installation crew's post-job cleaning habits.
The second reason, I initially, went with A-Max due to coming under bid against another company, however, the bid was not as clearly lined out as it should have been.  There was no "final" amount on the bid, and I took an amount to be the cost, only to find out that that it was a portion of the bid, after the fact.  There should be a total bid at the bottom of the form, and the customer should not be required to add up all of the charges to figure out the bid.
With these two reasons listed above, I would not let them deter you from using A-Max.  A-Max was thorough, had the customer's best interest in mind, and overall did an excellent job.

  • The reason I selected Clint's Company, was that, when I read his Angie's list review, I was highly impressed with the way the reviewer said he responded to & made good on an error on the part of one of his crews. The way a n individualor company responds to adversity speaks volumes to a man/company's charactor. Yes, there were some glitches in the work by one of the crews. A simple, but costly mis-step. Clint went above & beyond in seeing that all was redone to my satisfaction. Few remodeling projects go as expected, & mine was no different, except that dealing with a man/company with integrity meant that the frustration was minimized, & the agreed upon estimate/bid was honored. I HIGHLY recommend this company.

P.S. the company was, themselves, relocating THEIR OWN OFFICE, amidst this job, but the stress & chaos they were undoubtedly experiencing did not affect their customer service in the least!

  • I met with the owner who was very prompted at responding to me. He scheduled an estimate and came out to our house the same day and gave us a bid. We decided to hire him because the price was fair and he was very knowledgeable about the flooring. He started 2 days later, and didn't waste any time. We were on a bit of a time crunch and were concerned about getting it done. Robert the owner was very good about communicating the process to us. I was very pleased because I thought there would actually be more dust then what there was. The floors look absolutely amazing!! We have had our floors done before on other properties, but I have to say these guys are the best by far. Job was completed in 2 1/2 days and I would recommend them to anyone!

  • We had a great experience with this company.  Joe from Classic Hardwood came out for an estimate and was very professional.  All of his staff showed up on time and were also professional.

I would definitely recommend this company for any installation needs of hardwood you might have.

  • I bought a groupon for three rooms and had Ryan do two sets of stairs as well.  Initially my calls were not returned, but apparently I had the wrong number from groupon.  When I did reach him, I had to wait almost two months for an appointment.  The process took 45 min. and looks slightly better than before.  He ran the shampooer over everything once and was done.  There was no effort made to get spots out or even move the few light things in the room.  I didn't expect him to move beds or dressers (I did that), but to shampoo around a simple music stand, office chair and small (empty) trunk was disappointing (He could have even asked me to move them!).  He did go into the walk-in closet, which was commendable.  Professionally, he was cold and a bit grumpy.  He slapped his card on my counter while I was writing the check and walked off without a word.  He didn't say a word to my children until they came to look and then stearnly directed them to, "Go to your mom".  Price-wise, I guess you get what you pay for.  He did go over the carpet, but buyer beware that price doesn't include pre-treatment or protectant.  I believe the protectant was and extra $45 per room and I can't remember what the pre-treatment was.  Overall, I believe I could have done a better job myself and wouldn't have had to have him in my home.  I still have spots, but at least it smells clean!

  • I purchased an 11 year old house that had renters in if for about the last 3 years. The floors were pretty beat up and I thought it would be wise to have them redone before I moved in so that I didn't have to move in, move out, move back in again, and clean dust off of everything. I got two bids, and I liked A Max. My hope was to purchase the house and then have the floors done immediately, so that they were ready when I had the time off to move, the following week. A Max had another job lined-up for that week, but he was willing to come and do mine, too, so that I could get it done on the time schedule that worked best for me. I really appreciated his willingness to do this for me! The floors look BEAUTIFUL and I am so glad I did this eventhough I hadn't planned on that expense. It was worth it! I feel like I moved into a new house!!

  • I have had hardwood floors in every home I have ever purchased.  If the home did not have hardwood floors when I purchased it, I had hardwood floors installed.  In my current home I recently had some carpet replaced with hardwood and had existing hardwood floors refinished at the same time to match new floors. I have never been so unhappy with my floors (in 6 different homes) as I am with the floors installed by Idaho Hardwood Flooring, LLC. There are SO MANY places the boards are splitting apart from each other (possibly because they were not cured long enough); some of the boards are warping and curling up.  I was told that water must have been spilled there (an area of about 24" x 12" right in the middle of my living room) and I just didn't notice. In their fifth visit to my home to discuss problems with the flooring, the solution I was offered was to fill the areas where boards were splitting away from each other. This is on brand new floors!!!!  In the new install, Idaho Hardwood Flooring LLC used ill-fitting boards and filled in splits between them with wood putty rather than selecting boards that actually fit together.  One of those fills is about 2 1/2 feet long in a very visible area of my living room.  It is already cracking and splitting apart.  If you've ever had hardwood floors filled, you know the look. You end up with thick, putty looking seams. Put simply, this is the worst installation of hardwood floors in my 20 years of experience with hardwood flooring.
When I was originally looking for a company to do my floors, Idaho Hardwood Flooring, LLC, had some good reviews and some bad reviews. But they were recommended highly by my cleaning lady, so I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Big mistake.  When I logged on to Angie's List to finally enter my review of this company, I was surprised that the reviews I had read last year were no longer listed.  In any case, buyer beware.

  • the previous owner of the home we bought last fall let his dog run
wild in the kitchen with the hardwood floors.  Water bowl spill that
left the floor warped and worn finish from slider door across the
kitchen.  I had really nice wood floors in my old house so this really
bugged me. R& R sanded and refinished the kitchen and eating area.
They also did a maintenance coat on our entry and hallway which was in
better condition. Rob, the owner of R&R suggested this rather than
refinishing everything to save money and he felt they could make it look
good without sanding.  I appreciated this since I never thought of that
as an option. they came on time.  the 2 workers were very professional,
answered some questions we had before they started and left the place
looking great.  Our instructions for prep prior to the job led me to
believe that there would be some dust left when job was done.  There was
some, but it was very minimal and did not take long to dust the
baseboards and some low window sills. The floors look great and I
once again have floors I can be proud of.  By the way, I did not have
my Angies' List subscription when I signed the contract but did ask him
for references, who very highly recommended them.  i see the other 2
reviews here are pretty bad, but that was not our experience at all.
