    R & J CUSTOM COUNTERTOPS
This is a local company who first ordered the granite we had picked (with a refundable deposit), then had us inspect it to make sure it was acceptable, then came to our home and took a template of our counter tops. At this point (later the same day) we were invited to their shop to meet with the actual fabricator who helped us place the templates on the granite slabs to showcase the best features of the granite. The actual fabrication took about 10 days and included a 15 year sealer for the granite. The actual installation occurred about 11 days after the fabrication started and included the removal of the old counter top and all the prep work. Total time for installation was 3 hours. The installers were professional and conscientious and cleaned up after they were done. The company offered to put us in contact with a local plumber to reinstall the plumbing, but we declined as I had installed all the fixtures in the first place (I'm a major DIYer, but not for granite!). The new kitchen counter top also included a free under-counter stainless steel sink. The new counter tops look absolutely fantastic and we are very pleased. We priced granite and quartz counter tops at the local big box stores and found R and J to be about the same price with the advantage of being able to pre-inspect the custom ordered granite slabs as well as being able to work directly (and locally) with the fabricator to get the perfect look. We did not feel like just another big box customer and were pleased with the entire experience and result.

We are very pleased. Steve communicated very well via phone, text and email. He was extremely responsive--always answered his phone and always responded to texts and emails.  He helped me select pavers  and designed the stairs and walkway for my approval.  He finished today and I am delighted with the way it looks. I need to mention that I hired Steve from 3000 miles away and have not yet met him. This work was for our summer house in Wolfeboro, NH and  we are in Idaho.   He and I are planning the next steps of the landscaping and beautification project for the spring. I highly recommend Nature's Elite Landscaping and Steve Mitchell.

Amazing.  We made many trips to "visit" the slabs we could choose from.  We provided a sketch of what we wanted to do, and they reserved the piece we chose.  When the cabinets were ready they came to our house to get an exact measurement.  They have state of the art equipment, actually surveying each area with their electronic equipment to get it perfect. We deviated from our original plan at this meeting and they were able to accommodate our changes.   When they had the pattern ready we went to their showroom where they had the pattern laid out over our granite so we could see just how it would be cut for each piece.  At every step of the way each person was professional, punctual, and seemed happy to be doing the work.  It was a delightful experience and we have totally enjoyed the resulting kitchen cabinets.

We bought our home in July of 2010 and, although huge, the kitchen did not have a good work flow.  When my oven died, it was time to put in the double oven I always wanted and make some much needed changes to the kitchen.  Matt and Manda made EXCELLENT suggestions for the new layout.  (Although I spoke with three other contractors, none of them came even close to the great suggestions Matt and Manda had, and probably would have been much more expensive and less satisfactory.)  Matt used several experts to create and match new cabinets, since they were no longer available from the original supplier.  I have had so many compliments on what a good job they did matching the finish and the styling is perfect.  My biggest fear was cutting the existing granite countertop to install a new bar sink in the corner.  Gargoyle Granite was called to do that work, and it was executed flawlessly.  You can't tell it was added later.  The installers, Gordon and Mark, were true professionals, and perfectionists!  I couldn't have been happier with their quality of work, work ethic, and attitude.  I've never seen people take more time to measure a board (or trim in this case) and make multiple cuts to be sure they had a perfect fit.  If I didn't tell people the kitchen had been remodeled, they would never know it.  To top it off, the work was finished in two weeks.  Other contractors were guessing several months to do the job, but it could take longer. Overall, I am extremely pleased and impressed with the work that Matt and his crew did for us.  I would definitely recommend them to friends and would hire them if I had another kitchen or bath remodel to do.  I can't say enough good things about them. The work went very well.  They arrived at the agreed upon time, kept me informed and explained the various stages of the job, and performed the work in a timely manner.   This is one of those special companies that you can trust.  They are honest and the cost of their work is very reasonable.  The quality of the work is excellent and we love the new tiled floor.

Everything went perfectly. We were originally going to buy level 1 granite because let's face it...the stuff isn't exactly "affordable". Add to the fact that we needed 3 slabs there was no way that we could add another $3600 to the project with exotic granite. When we went in again next to the boring granite we were going to buy was a beautiful level 3 that made the level 1 look even more boring. It happened to have a sale sign and the stars aligned and for only another $900 we could afford it! They always have one or two patterns on sale. The pricing at RS is so easy. We bought 3 slabs for the project outright and then they charged $35/sq ft for fabrication. Other places calculate based on square footage alone plus however much they want to charge for custom details so you never really know what you are paying for. They charge more for buying extra granite, keep the scraps and turn around and sell the scrap to someone else. At RS you own your slabs outright to do whatever you want with it.  Had another fabricator bought the granite on sale we would never know if the sale price was passed down to us or not. At first we were going to have the existing counter tops replaced as is but the more pictures I looked at the more I wanted to add custom curves. When they showed up for the final measurements to their surprise I asked them to add the curves. There was no need to worry about a new bid or how much it would cost because we already owned the granite. The only additional charges came from the square footage the curves added which we already knew were $35/sq ft. They gave suggestions on the best way to shape the curves and how big they should be. That day they sent me renderings including how it would look on top of the cabinets for final approval and another day or two later our countertops were installed.  When the installation came in they informed me that all of our granite was gone. We were surprised because we were supposed to have plenty to do the bathrooms. We were even more surprised when the final bill came in. They explained everything to us so we understood exactly why our granite was gone and the bill was higher than expected. We chose double thick chiseled edges. Add curves to that and there is a ton of waste and lot more square footage then we ever would have dreamed. They actually did not charge us the full price for the added square footage so we still got an amazing deal and our countertops are perfect. Even if they did charge full price it would have been a completely fair deal because there is no mystery in their pricing. Other places would charge extra for every "radius" depending on the size of it and charge per linear foot for the chisel and probably per linear foot for the double thick edge all on top of the square footage. Those costs are arbitrarily made up by the contractor. Rock solid charges to fabricate anyway you can dream it at a flat rate.  Months later I took a friend in their to pick out granite for her new remodel. The staff remembered exactly who I was and the name of the granite we purchased and the project. My friend was so impressed with the customer service she received she did not shop around.  We can't wait to raid their remnant stash to have our bathrooms done.

    Classic Stoneworks
The guys at Classic Stoneworks measured, created and installed bathroom counter tops last spring and just last week came out (December) measured and estimated counter tops for a kitchen remodel that is occurring within the next three weeks. Their estimate came in more than $500 under the counter top guys recommended by the cabinet installers and Classic Stoneworks is using a superior product. They have at least 20 different kinds of granite in stock to select from and all cutting, polishing, etc. is done at their shop. I wouldn't choose to go with anyone else for any of my future granite needs.

    R & J CUSTOM COUNTERTOPS
The owner and his secretary were extremely helpful and patient while we selected the design and color we wanted. They loaned us any sample we wanted so we could take it home to 'visualize' which one looked best. Once we made our decision, R and J ordered the material and we scheduled the work. The workers who installed the countertop were very professional and the installation was done in a single day. We absolutely love our new kitchen, and plan to have R and J do three bathroom countertops.

    R & J CUSTOM COUNTERTOPS
This guy is the biggest jerk on the face of the planet. He lacks any level of professionalism whatsoever. Half Priced Granite is a franchise. The very concept of franchises is that products are the same but privately owned companies. We were initially told there were 6 colors to choose from. Go to halfpricedgranite.com and it's all laid out. When we first went into the shop the owner was on the phone with his wife. It was the middle of the afternoon and he was extremely put out by our presence. I don't feel guilty for going to a business during business hours. If he was understaffed that was his problem. Then he cancelled his first appointment for our bid. When he finally came out for the bid he was again put out and on the phone to his wife. I asked questions and he had better places to be. He explained the half-priced granite and how everything has to fall into place to be able to go that route. Then I found out about custom options. He charges more for every added detail. I asked why it was advertised that there were 6 color choices and he only gave two. It's like going to McDonalds and not being able to get a big mac. Half Priced Granite has 6 color choices. He never explained it to me. When he left I had even more questions so the next day my husband and I went to the shop. When we entered I could here him yelling at his assistant. Wow...how unprofessional is that. Then I realized he was yelling about a customer. He was telling her he was going to charge for half priced granite bids so he wasn't so inconvenienced. The more he yelled the more I put the puzzle together. He was yelling about me! OMG...how much more unprofessional is this! So I poked my head in the office and said "I'm here!". Oh he wasn't' ashamed or anything. He continued to yell at me and tell me to just deal with it he only offered two colors and that is how it is. He wasn't even professional enough to give any simple, logical explanation. He finally told his assistant to deal with us and maybe we should not be doing business together. He stormed off to lunch with his wife and his assistant helped us. She too was a total B and said "It's Friday and we don't want to be here." Well Miss in this town the people who make enough money to afford granite work out of town and can only take care of business on Fridays. We never did get the final bid from them. In the end we went with Rock Solid Granite who treated us with an enormous amount of respect and appreciation from the moment we walked in the door. Our project cost over $10,000 and is fully custom with custom curves and 6 cm chiseled edges. Not only did we do our U shaped kitchen but 2 desks and the fireplace. We received our bid in 1 day with no upcharges for the custom work. The renderings were sent to us the same day as the final laser measurements and the install happened 2 days later. Anyone who uses the jerk at Rand J are fools who clearly did not shop around. Rock Solid was laughing all the way to the bank with our $10,000 check.
