Tire Buying And Repair reviews in Boise

Had to visit three times to get the battery. I purchased a battery for a scooter, which the team did a good job matching. However, when I tried the product, it failed and had little cranking power. I took the battery back, and characteristics of the battery were measured and and found defective. I hoped for a quick replacement/swapout, but was cited "policy" requiring that they be able to diagnose the battery and try to repair (basically "recharge"). So, I left the battery, and went back a third time to pick it up. Not really happy with (1) the quality and (2) the customer service/making it convenient for the customer. The value of the battery was not worth my time going forward.

    Restoration Rods
Brent, the owner, has always been good to me and my cars. He gives great, honest advice, even if it means no business for him. He'll tell you when it's worth fixing or when it's time for the junkyard. He even fixed factory defects on one of my cars. He's doesn't charge the cheapest per hour shop rate ($90/hr) but if you take time, the quality of his work and the high tech equipment his shop uses into account, his prices are very reasonable. He gets the work done in half of the time of his competitors. Just look at his parking lot - full of cars for repairs during the week that are always cleared off before the weekend. He even got a 78 CJ7 jeep to run again (see the Jeep on Restoration Rods website -

    Big O Tires
A few years ago was looking for new tires. Sent my dad to 3 different shops and he was most impressed with Big O Tires on State near Collister. Since then I've gone to them for several repairs including an extensive rebuild of the front end suspension this spring. Recently the car started making a grinding noise in the front tire area and squealing in the back brake. They looked at the car and identified a rock causing the grinding noise and dust in the brakes causing the squeal. They were honest and didn't sell me on any unnecessary repairs.

Their a little mom and pop place. They go over the ticket, they explain everything they've done. With oil change and tire rotation there's really not much to tell me. It only takes about an hour. They are very professional, they let you know how long everything is going to take and call you if they find something if they suggest needs to be fixed. They just go out of their way on their customer service.

    Les Schwab Tire Center
I got a nail in my tire while traveling in Boise. The tires on my car were not factory tires, and I did not get them from Les Schwab. I dropped my car off at the Les Schwab in downtown Boise, and they got my car in right away and quickly fixed the tire. Everyone was very nice and professional. Additionally, they did not charge me for their services even though the tires on my car were not from Les Schwab. Definitely a very pleasant experience.

I was driving into downtown Boise, early morning; dark and pouring rain. I was on my way to work, driving in on the interstate.  Around Meridian Road my driver side windshield wiper started to mosey across toward my driver-side mirror, until it was flapping off the left side of my vehicle.  I could not think of who could help me this early in the morning on my way to the office.  All I could think of was the Big O Tire store on Main and 15th.  I managed to get off at the River Street exit and get to Big O.  I went into the lobby, where a friend of mine was speaking to a Big O service person. He said he was here for tires, I said I had a windshield wiper emergency.  He said, but this place sells tires.  Serviceman Rob came out from behind the counter and said "Show me to your car."  He had me get in, out of the rain, and start the engine and he saw what the wiper was doing. He ran and got a ratchet and fixed it in less than two minutes.  He was quick, professional, friendly and it did not cost me anything.  The rain was turning to snow, and I was not even late for work.  Rob saved my day!  I will definitely do tire business with this Big O.

It was great. They have a nice waiting area. I have kids. So, they have like a little popcorn machine. We had to wait with three kids. It was a nice waiting area. They entertained themselves. It took them about an hour to do the service. We called around and they were the most reasonable.

    Les Schwab Tire Center
I am going to visit him again in next month because I have a trailer RV that needs tires so I am buying from them. They are just good and attentive and honest and they know what they are doing. They are not the cheapest but the tires are good. I would continue to use them in the future.

    Firestone Complete Auto Care Store
I would tell them that they are good on simple stuff like basic car care. I had an electrical problem that they said would cost me $1,100 fixed. I took it to an automotive electrical specialist and I only paid $50. Like I said, Firestone is good for doing simpler stuff but if I have more complicated mechanical work, I would go to a specialist.

    Miracle Tire
Off and on over the years, we have bought tires from them and we have used them for some services. They offer some good prices and their oil changes are cheap. They do have some good tire prices sometimes but there is a lot of drawbacks to them too. They seem to be more interested in selling than they do in repairing and that is just something that I have learned dealing with them over the years. They want to repair everything and they want to sell you the most expensive thing and they really upsell you like crazy. I have talked to them about it and it goes in one ear and out the other. It just does not seem to matter so my experience with them in that regard has been pretty poor. With the other mechanic shop that I use, the owner will say, "Okay, we have this, this and this and you can do this and we have these choices. We can do it this way. It will cost this much if you do it this way and it will cost this much if you do it this way. I think that you can get away with this." He gives you options and he tells you what they are going to cost and why he recommends what he recommends. With these guys at Miracle, they just want to sell you the most expensive thing. If they can turn a minor repair into a major repair, they will do it and I have a real problem with that part of their business. I have not had any issues since the last service was provided but it was just an oil change. Their prices are not that bad. I would use them again in the future depending on the item. For repair, I would not use them again but for oil change, I would possibly use them again.
