    We noticed the leak on a Wednesday evening and checked Angie's List which led us to Holt Plumbing and Heating. By noon Thursday, Dave arrived, diagnosed the problem as a failed faucet and was able to stop the leak. We paid $100 for this service call. He gave us a catalog to select a replacement faucet and said if the one we chose was not in stock, it would be within a couple of days. We had three choices: $999, $881 or $741, We called the office, told Jeff our choice was the one for $741 and he said he would call when it arrived. No call Thursday and none Friday. We didn't expect a call over the weekend and didn't get one. On Monday morning, we called and a staff person said that it would be three weeks. We were angry, put the order on hold and said that Jeff should have called us to let us know. She said, he did. That was a lie. We checked our phones--no message. You would expect that after an angry customer calls and threatens to cancel an order, that within 20 minutes, you would get a call from the company, apologizing, explaining and asking what could they do to make it right. If you thought that, you would be wrong. No call, People make mistakes. How they deal with them makes a big difference in their reputation. In our case, we got inflated prices, unexpected and unacceptable delay, no communication and indifferent response to a legitimate complaint. We bought a high-end Delta faucet at Lowe's for about $400 and paid $100 for installation. It wasn't the money that was so infuriating. It was the lack of communication and indifference to our complaint. Holt acts like it is the only game in town. It is not. I am writing this review to warn potential customers what the can expect. I belatedly read reviews about Holt and learned that delays and overcharging have been reported in the past. So, on top of everything else, they don't learn from their mistakes. Besides writing this review, I plan to tell everyone I know about this and the story will spread. Philip Latessa

    I reached out to the company on Thursday 2-21, I was told that you were able to schedule and complete repairs quickly and offered to schedule an appointment on Saturday 2-23 at 9:00. I was given the name of the plumber, Kenny, and his cell number to call if anything came up. At this point everything seemed great. Saturday morning, I prepped everything for Kenny���s arrival to make his job easier and as quick as possible as I was expecting his arrival at 9:00. At 9:30 I called Kenny���s cell phone that I was provided and received no answer. I again called the cell at 9:45 with no answer, I did not leave a message as there is no message on the cell phone stating that this is Kenny from RJ Plumber, it is just the basic message relaying the phone number called. Kenny called me back at 10:00, asking me why I was calling him. I told him that I was told that he would be there at 9:00, he told me that he didn���t know about that, he hadn���t looked at the schedule in a few days and didn���t know he was supposed to be working. There was no apology, or even a simple, sorry about that, he told me that he would come out, but it would be at least 12:30 before he could get around to it. Against my better judgement I agreed to this. At 12:20, Kenny called me and stated that he was filling up his truck with gas and would be at my house in 20 minutes. He finally showed up at 1:30, when I asked why it took him an hour, all he said was, wow, it���s been an hour and laughed. This kind of treatment of your customers is unacceptable. I wanted to let you know, as to why I will be doing my best to make sure that no one else makes the same mistake as I did.

    My wife and I have worked with several contractors over the past three years to remodel and refurbish the interior and exterior of our house. We���ve been fortunate in our choices of service providers and are pleased with most everyone we���ve worked with. But without doubt, one of our very best choices was Red House Remodeling who helped us plan and remodel most of our first floor. The kitchen and dining room was our biggest project, and thanks to Red House was an absolute success. The process they follow in presenting design options and planning every detail virtually guarantees the outcome. We spent a good deal of time upfront working with Jenna, one of the staff interior designers who walked us through several design options and then through every choice of products and materials for the project���from cabinets and counters to fixtures and switch plates. Not only did Jenna help us consider details we���d have never thought of on our own, she also offered great advice that helped cut throught the overwhelming number of options to make choices that worked well together. Ben and Jenna then worked with us to wrangle the whole project down to the most important features and options at a price with which we were satisfied. With a complete schedule and set of plans that covered all the structural, hvac, plumbing, electrical, and finish work details, Ben and his crew put it all in motion and transformed a run-of-the-mill kitchen and dining room layout into just the functional space we were looking for. Ben brought in a structural engineer to verify all the needed underlying changes to ensure the job came off without a hitch���and that���s just what happened. We knew just what had to be done from the start; no mid-project surprises or compromises. We were impressed not only with Ben���s crew, but also with the great subcontractors they work with. And we appreciated Ben���s active management style and and oversight of the work. We always knew where the project was at and what came next. I was especially greatful for all the precautions taken for dust control and the effort made to keep the area clean throughout the construction. In the end we have a gorgeous kitchen/dining room finished on time and on budget���and most importantly, no complaints! Following the kitchen, we worked with Red House to remodel our living room, too, with similarly fantastic results. Throughout both projects and since completion, Ben and company have been very responsive and accommodating. We���ll be taking on the second floor in a few years, and there���s no doubt who we���ll call.

    Red House Remodeling
    We have used Red House Remodeling for two major projects on our home ��� upstairs hall bathroom and our kitchen and dining room. The projects were about 3 years apart and we came back to Red House for the more extensive kitchen and dining room project after the success of the upstairs hall bathroom. Ben is very organized in assessing the project and communicating the details. He also provides realistic expectations and guidance on the project to stay on budget and achieve our remodeling goals. The Red House team has a dedicated designer to help you with your project and picking out all the elements ��� floors, cabinets, counters, fixtures, etc. Our designer on both projects ��� Jenna ��� spent time with us at our home, at their office, and at various stores reviewing options and discussing pros and cons. She was very helpful in getting us the overall look we wanted in both cases and offered her opinions. She was also patient throughout the design process, allowing us to discuss and consider multiple options. One thing I especially appreciated is their recommendation that new elements can blend well with existing ones (like our new wood floors blending with our oak trim). Once all the details were settled and demolition began, Ben provided a detailed schedule for the project and stayed on schedule and communicated any major changes to that. With the bathroom remodel, the plumber accidentally damaged the new floor and Ben made sure this was replaced at no charge to us and tried to keep the schedule interruption to a minimum. With the kitchen remodel, we really had no major delays or issues come up. Ben and crew were very helpful in making sure our old cabinets could be salvaged for Habitat for Humanity Restore ��� which is a great way to keep used items out of the landfills and help low income homeowners looking to remodel. This also eliminated our need to have a dumpster in our driveway for the duration of the project. Ben���s crew and subcontractors were polite and generally very tidy in their construction process and accommodating to our requests through the kitchen remodel. Ben even delayed the demolition of our dining room at our request so we could have a bit more room for a couple extra weeks. Overall, we have had two great experiences with the Red House Remodeling team ��� from the initial consultation, thorough and dedicated design process, organized and timely demolition and construction, and follow up on the checklist of wrap up items ��� the team does an excellent job for their clients. We have plans to use them again in the future.

    Horrific! I called this company based on Angie List reviews as I'd just moved here and the water heater went out after just a couple days. They made an appointment to come at noon yesterday. They didn't show up, so I called after a while. They first said an appointment was never made, but then realized it was cancelled because my name didn't match the assessor's website (I just closed on the house within a week). They tried to say the soonest they could come back would be the next day. I told them I'd already taken half a day off to meet them and wouldn't make another day available, so then they were able to find availability. A guy came out and quoted me $1927 for a water heater. He was professional and was the only highlight of this company. I explained that seemed a bit much for a water heater, and asked if there were cheaper options through them. He said no, their water heaters have their name on them and that there are no cheaper options available. So I went to Home Depot and was able to find a water heater fitting my needs for around $500. They were going to have a lead sent for delivery, install and haul away. It happens they use this same company...who said they don't have a cheaper model available. When they called to set up the appointment, I explained they had already quoted me $1900+ which is why I went to Home Depot. She said then that would be the price, even though it was a model that was only $500. This company is a joke and I regret wasting any of my time on them. Unless you have tons of cash to throw away, I wouldn't recommend even calling them.

    Holt Plumbing & Heating Inc
    So I called Holt because they were highly rated and the plumber I had always used who was fair, reliable, and did excellent work unfortunately went out of business. The kitchen faucet was leaking, the shut off valve wasn���t working, and I already had quite a bit of damage until the sink. I called Holt and was relieved they could send a plumber the next day to help me out. The lady on the phone did tell me there was a trip charge which didn���t bother me because I���m used to paying that when service people come to the house and actually fix the issue. But when the person arrived I believe he was just a sales person who was sent to look and it and give me an estimate, not actually the plumber who I needed to do the work. He said he recommended a new faucet & shut off valves, which is probably the best course of action in this case, but proceeded to quote me an outrageous price. But of course I could save 15% if I signed up for it their maintenance plan at $20/month. I���m thinking at this point they are just trying to take advantage of me since I called in an emergency situation and in need of a new plumber. He also proceeded to say ���when the plumber comes out��� which really threw me off because I thought Holt had sent me a plumber who was there to actually fix my plumbing issues! Needless to say, I felt at that point I needed time to think about it cause the quote was extremely high especially without the ���preferred customer discount��� and he wasn���t going to fix it that day anyway. However, I did have to pay the $86 trip charge plus tax just to get the quote! So now I���m out $91 and a couple days behind on getting an honest, reliable plumber out here that will actually fix my leaking faucet for me the first time they come out! Not saying Holt doesn���t have great plumbers cause I never got far enough to find out but I can tell you they have a great marketing plan & sales people who act like they are actually going to help you out when they are just trying to sell you their plan!

    I LOVE LOVE LOVE DDS Plumbing. I have hired them for service calls 4 times now. I had a high level of concern about both the cost and level of destruction needed to fix the leaking water pipe in the ceiling of my finished basement. Scott from DDS Plumbing was able to repair it by cutting only two small holes in the ceiling, through which he was able to find and fix the leaking pipe. He also went through a troubleshooting process with a shower faucet in a guest bathroom that was only producing scalding hot water in a way that minimized the cost and impact to me. I feel like another plumber would have jumped to a easier and more costly fix of replacing the entire faucet, but Scott took his time to diagnose an issue with the pressure balance in the cartridge, which resulting in a less expensive and impacting way to the fix the problem. I really appreciate the professionalism, quality of work, and fair cost of service that DDS Plumbing has. This is a company with a lot of integrity, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anybody needing plumbing services!

    The project went very well! It was a complete makeover of our kitchen which transformed our whole main floor. Red House worked within our budget, started on their proposed start date; they were very organized and efficient and managed to stay on schedule and finish on their proposed finish date. Also, the staff was always very professional. The remodel is exactly what we wanted! We love it!
