    Thorsheim & Ceraso
Every time I went it seemed as if there was something being filled, suggested to be improved and 365 degree x-rayed. No matter the visit, there were yearly fillings etc. I tend to stay with the care providers I find and this dentist was near my office. After years of dental work, one day it simply seemed odd to yet again have (3) three teeth needing fillings. I finally went to simply get a second opinion and the kind dentist said my teeth were fine and no cavities or irregularities existed. I still can still dredge up the shock of that moment. All that new equipment and repeat visits, all the needless shots, dental anxiety and time lost. I was bamboozeled. Plain and simple. 15 years later (having the same small practice dentist for this entire time) I have had one filing replaced. My children have thrived and only one has had a small cavity and no braces (which I attribute to my husbands excellent genetics). I feel duped and want others to know that this negative experience was protracted over the course of nearly 6 years of regular visits with this practice. I dont typically write negative reviews but I felt taken advantage of, needlessly hurt and hope to help others avoid any similar experience.

    Wolfe Eye Clinic
Of all the senses, sight must be the most delightful. Helen Keller As a dutiful daughter, I had accompanied my parents to The Wolfe Clinic four times to remove these things called cataracts that old people get. In the blink of an eye, my own hour had come. The years had delivered me into the eye of the storm, and it was my time to clear the windshield of my sight. Subsequently, so inconvenienced by having to remove my contact lenses, so frightened to face the reality of surgery, I cancelled my appointments at The Wolfe Clinic 39 times. Really. Finally, on January 24, 2017, I committed and kept my appointment with Dr. James Davidson, an ophthalmologist who had earned a reputation of mythological and epic proportions as a preeminent surgeon in our big-town-small-world city of Des Moines. As I waited for his appearance in the examination room, my eyes like saucers from dilation, I anxiously wondered if we would see eye-to-eye. Would this go-to guy be white-coated, hard-hearted, with dollar signs in his eyes? I wanted to flee; I was afraid of the big bad Wolfe. Yet not long after, I heard a little knock, Dr. Davidson announced his presence, and the door opened, Through my haze I saw a smiling face a sight for sore eyes. He extended a hand and gave a firm shake, his smile was as sweet as frosting on a cake. His warmth, humor, and reassuring manner evoked the confidence and reassurance I sought. I had found love at first sight! As agreed, I stared Cupid down, sandwiching him between surgeries on February 9th and 16th. Two heart monitors, two nurses and anesthesiologists, several compassionate and efficient extraneous souls, two shower caps, four Smurf shoes, two wheel chairs, four warm blankets, two procedural psychedelic light shows, plenty of Verced, and one very kind, competent, holistic physician later, I find myself living a dream. I must share that I never imagined a world in which I could see without visual aid. For this inconceivable gift, I give thanks to Dr. Davidson and his associates at The Wolfe Clinic. I am fortunate, as is Iowa, to have this top-staffed, immaculate, state-of-the-art facility available to all.

    Dental Associates
My complaint isn't with the dentistry, but with the office staff. I kept getting robo-calls reminding me of my appt. I would press the right button letting them know I would be there, but 24 hours later I would get another call. Eventually, I would get live calls from the office staff reminding me of the appt. I informed them again that I would be there and to please discontinue the robo-calls. There was nothing they could do, it is standard procedure. After going through this for 3 successive appts with no relieve, I had to change dentistry offices.

    Eye Care of Iowa

Think twice before going to the West Des Moines Eye Care of Iowa.  I had a terrible customer service experience.  Following my last exam, the staff took my insurance info, ordered my contacts, charged me for all of the above, and then I never heard from them.  I called two weeks later to check on the status of my contacts and was told they either a) never ordered them or b) wouldn't give them to me because I hadn't come in for a follow-up appointment.  I indicated they never set up a follow-up appointment and they hadn't given me any new contacts to wear, so how could I come to an appointment they didn't set up to check contacts they'd never given me?!?  My prescription change was small (a quarter step) and I have been wearing the same brand for 7 years.  They told me they would give me a 10-day supply and that I would need to come in for a follow-up before they would give me the boxes I'd already ordered and paid for.  I asked if I could wear the new prescription for a few days, and if all was well, just call to cancel the follow-up and finalize the prescription (this is what I had been allowed to do the previous year when I had the same change in prescription (a quarter step)).  I was told no, that the doctor specifically needed to see me for a follow-up because I had a large change in prescription - that statement was at best inaccurate and at worse a flat out lie.  Needless to say, after my follow-up appointment for my "large change" in prescription, I will be leaving with my contacts and said prescription in hand never to return again.

    Full Circle Wellness Center
Dr. Adams not only knows his stuff, but proves it with the work he does.  After a treatment he asked me to get up and see how I felt.  I really didn't feel all that well, and he asked me to lay back on the table.  Next time I got up I was 100 percent.
I'm not sure I would get this kind of treatment with other providers I have seen.  The staff made sure my insurance covered my treatment and were very upfront about what my deductible would be.
Most importantly, treatment by Dr. Adams WORKS.  I've visited other chiropractors and can't say that is the case.  I feel very fortunate to have found Full Circle Wellness and Dr. Rob Adams.  THANK YOU!

    Wehrspan Chiropractic
Dr. Wehrspan didn't do x-rays, he asked a million questions then looked at my feet, how I stood, my back and posture from all directions. He's a super nice guy with a good sense of humor. Getting my feet adjusted was weird, but it made a difference in how I hold my weight...I wish I'd had it done years ago. He's really great at what he does.

    Associated Ophthalmologists
I recently moved to the area and needed to arrange for ongoing glaucoma observation. They scheduled me with an optomotrist rather than an opthalmologist even though I told them why I was there, and furnished all old records.
He was a nice kid - checked pressure, etc - and sent me to another doctor in the practice (Dr. Hussain) for a laser treatment.
That's what reinforced my negative first impression.  The nurses at the outpatient surgery center are terrified of Dr. Hussain (the laser surgeon).  You sit in numbered chairs before being summoned for a 30-second procedure (and a subsequent bill for $650 after insurance).  The Doc explodes in at his convenience like God from the clouds and starts taking "numbers. "
I'm afraid this is the future of medical care in the US unless we have a sea change in national thought, but right now Associated Opthoplomogists is the most institutional, impersonal medical interface I've had since my draft physical 45 years ago.
In all fairness, the procedure did help, but I can't support a practice that glorifies egos like that of Hussain. I'm afraid my judgment may be based only on that doctor but he is truly a dick and I'll not go back or refer anyone else to this practice. I miss my old doc in Colorado.

    Elite Eye Care
They were good. I later found out that they were a little bit more expensive than several other eye care places. I liked the optometrist that did my exam. She was very nice and very thorough. They were available. I got an appointment very quickly -within a couple of days after my phone call. The office environment was very nice, very friendly and professional. They were very punctual. I don't think I stayed more than ten minutes waiting for the appointment or my contacts when they wanted to re-check them. They were very friendly. She was very professional and very good. The communication was very good. They emailed and they followed up with a phone call. My contacts are working out very well. They were very adaptable with the billing and administration. I would consider using them in the future just because of the service and the friendliness even though they were a little bit more expensive.

    Davidson Family Dentistry
Since I was a new patient, they required new X-rays, even though my prior dentist sent the old ones over.  This was the only negative.  The hygenist was the most gentle hygenist I have ever had.  The office decor (lots of art) was very interesting.

Snavely, Dr. Rodney D / Snavely Family Dentistry
I've been using him for about 25 years. The office is small and personable. He's married to one of my former coworkers which is how I hooked up wit him before I moved out of town. We know of each other as friends. His bedside manner is excellent and his staff is very good. I have been able to get in right away and I wait in the room about a minute or 2.
