Exterior Contractor reviews in State Center

When I first got the solicited call from American Builders, I explained that my home was brick and that some of the brick was crumbling. It would not be an easy job because I had been looking for somewhere to do it and not a lot of places were willing to. I was told that it would not be a problem and they had done brick homes before. When Frank Domanico came to my home for the estimate, he told me that the brick would not be a problem. The contractor would fix the crumbling brick before putting the siding on. The brick was not fixed. The siding was placed over the top. I was told that my house would be done in 2 weeks. It took 6 weeks. I was told that anything they broke would be fixed. They broke my garage window and denied it. They also pulled out the cable for the internet to my house and denied it. I had to call a tech from my internet provider to come and fix it. I was told that all nails would be picked up at the end of each work day. After I got a nail in my tire and had to repair it, I went out and picked up the nails each time they worked and I ended up with a coffee can full of nails from around my house. I have dogs and children so nails laying around in the yard that they play in is unsafe. I was told that an entire crew would work on my house all day until it got dark. The most that was ever at my house was two guys except when the windows were installed. Majority of the time was one guy and he rarely worked. Spent most of his time on his phone. They showed up around 10:00 am and were packing up to leave at 3:30 pm when my kids got home from school. I have a porch that extends from the roof line and is attached to my house. They stopped the soffit and fascia halfway down the porch. When I questioned the contractor, he told me that he was told by the company not to do it. Then he offered to finish it himself through his business for a small fee. I was told a few weeks after the contract was signed that the project had been underbid. I think that they cut quite a few corners to cover that cost. But what topped it off is when I called after everything was done to ask why the rotted wood was not replaced since it was in the contract that it would be replaced. There was a spot that I could see rotted wood and the siding was not covering it. I was told that if it held a nail then they would not replace it. When I started to explain that the wood was swollen and split from previous water damage, the guy that I was speaking to, who claimed to be an owner named Frank, started yelling at me. Not very professional and certainly not the way that you should treat a customer who was asking a question. It was so bad that I had to hang up on him due to his yelling at me and I hate to hang up on people. I will NEVER recommend these people to anyone. And if they tell you that they have plenty of good customer reviews written out in a binder, keep in mind that most of those don't have dates on them and they are from 10+ years ago. A friend of mine had used them 12 years ago and her review was in there as a recent customer. So I ended up with a bigger issue than when I started because rotted wood and crumbling brick are still there but covered up and I now have to find someone else to come and fix their mistakes before it worsens. Good luck if you want them to fix their mistakes because they won't even admit that they made them. Even when you have photos to prove it. The owner then just makes up another excuse as to why it was done that way. Save yourself the headache and find an actual professional.
