DLet me first say I do understand the positive ratings from others. I would have been there too were it not for the final treatments. I also understand that veterinary medicine is not an exact science. And I considered (actually having put it off for quite awhile, avoiding the negative review but I ultimately decided that if it were someone else's dogs I'd want to know about it. But two of my three older dogs, a minaiture schanauzer who was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor, and a bichon friese diagnosed with mammary cancer had surgery performed there. And this is as good a spot as any to say if you really care about your pet, take another look at your bank account and see if you can't afford a board-certified veterinary surgeon rather than a GP. But at any rate I was assured by Dr. Peterson, as well as the oncologist at Iowa Veterinary Specialties, that these were routine surgeries. Well, apparently not. They both came back with "dirty margins," meaning the malignancy was not fully removed. Tara, the bichon was first. Dr. Frye performed the surgery. When she told me of the dirty margins, I asked about the prognosis, she simply said 3-6 months with no exlanation nor hint of apology about the unsuccessful surgery. Dr. Peterson handled it better, demonstrating that she really was apologetic about Sophie's mast cell coming back "dirty," and explaining that she thought she was cutting for adequate margins but that mast cell tumors were "tricky." Although I spent several thousand dollars with the IVS oncologist post-surgery, both dogs were dead within a year. I do need to say that I enjoyed working with Dr. Peterson (although I question her billing herself as "integrative" ... when I think of intergrative, I think of being at least somewhat familiar with Chinese herbs and holistic medicine in general) and I realize that for a GP, most of their surgeries consist of neutering and spaying. I have to accept responsilibility for asking them to get outside of their comfort zones when i should have taken them to a veterinary surgeon. I decided I couldn't afford it before their surgery, but after the botched surgeries I was able to go into debt to pay for oncologoical care, but to no avail.

FThe experience there keeps getting worse. Charging for services that weren't performed. There rude and unprofessional. This time they refused to do the exam then wouldn't give me my dog back. I will never go back to this place again . In fact I will be posting my experience on all social media sites over the next couple days.

FWebsite says they groom ALL breeds. This is not true. I just tried to make an appointment for my Great Pyr and they told me that they won't groom her because of her size. She's 105 pounds.... Very disappointed as I see so many good reviews for this groomer.

FChleo suffered from bladder stones four years ago and I took her to Ames Pet Hospital. She stayed for 8 days. Four years later I took her back for the same operation and they let her go home the same night. Chleo never recovered from surgery.

AThey act like they genuinely like the dogs. They let me walk out to view the facilities to see where my dogs were going to be staying. It didn't stink and was very clean. The boarding is very economical, and they let them stay in the same kennel together. I can drop them off and leave them all day. They will give them their shots, bath them, and have them ready when I come to pick them up. They are extremely cheap. The dogs aren't stressed when I come to pick them up.

AANKENY ANIMAL & AVIAN CLINICWe love our vet practice. We have seen and/or talked to several of the vets in the practice and have always been pleased. We have had several trips to the vet and/or grooming over the past several months with two dogs. Each and every time you feel that they are being cared for with kindness and expertise. The office is a happy place. Everyone that we have come in contact with seems glad to be there and wants to help you and your pet. We are very happy we found this vet practice.- Diane F.

AUpDog Mobile Grooming & SpaI called several mobile dog groomers to check out pricing since we have several small dogs and it is very difficult to keep all of them trimmed and clean without several trips to the groomer. Nikki at Updog Grooming called me back within 24 hrs and gave me an estimate I thought was very fair. They came just a few minutes late but it was no problem. She called beforehand to let me know. She met our dogs and I could tell they were definitely animal people. Chi ' s sometimes have trouble with strangers but Nikki had our skittish one cuddling with her in 5 minutes. They went right to work with the 2 dogs to wash and then did the nail trims. Everyone was happy and smelled great. My papillon had a great blow dry. She is so soft and fluffy still 5 days later. I would highly recommend Nikki and Updog Mobile grooming. I had a fabulous experience, as did my pups. Thank You Up Dog Mobile grooming!- Ingrid L.

ATri-County Veterinary ClinicI would recommend their boarding to anyone. I don't have any kids and my dogs are like my children. The dogs are around 20 pound dogs and they let them share a larger cage. They give half off the price for the second dog. It is $18 for the first dog and $9 for the second dog so it is $27 per night to board two dogs.- Frances V.

ASHEAR PAWFECTIONFrom call to payment, it was an overall great service experience. They were able to get me an appointment quickly and were very friendly when I came in. The drop off went smoothly and I was able to pick up my dog three hours later. The groomer followed my instructions on the cut perfectly. I have no complaints with their service.- Erik R.

ABarks & WagsThis was well worth the money. They took the time to groom her completely and she came out looking like a whole new pup! I could tell they were caring and wanted to make sure the job was done right. She was brushed, shampooed, had a de-shedding treatment, nails clipped, ears cleaned, trimmed - the works! It was definitely better than bringing her to a big box pet store.- Chelsea P.
