Staff is always courteous and friendly. Dr. Hughes and Ms . Harvey are the best of the best. Always take time and never make you feel rushed. Des Moines is fortunate to have this level of excellence.

My husband has Parkinson's and she has been providing care for the last 10 years. She is great to work with. She is very active in Parkinson's research and holds seminars on Parkinson's to help educate people with the newest information. She also attends to my issues and needs as his care giver, giving support and advice.

She has given me feedback on the medications she has she has given me. She will supplement my prescriptions. She will also give me samples to tie me over when I can not afford it. She is on top of all the research.

I went to my family doctor of osteopathy, who I inherited when my medical doctor moved, for my left thumb being numb and then the middle fingers starting to get numb too.  She shares space with my doctor so she sent me to him and he refused to tell me anything.  He did some kind of a test on my hand with a machine and he said he wouldn't tell me and he would tell my doctor.  Doctors don't make a practice of calling up and telling you what the results are.  Her nurse called me and told me I had carpel tunnel syndrome in my right hand.  I went to see her for my left hand.  I may have carpel tunnel on my right hand, but I don't know it.  Then to cap it off, my insurance pays a lot and the leftover is $211.00 from the doctor that refused to tell me anything.  I will be writing a letter about that to them with a copy to the billing office.  Des Moines University is one of the top 5 osteopathic training facilities in the United States.  For 20 years they have been accepted as medical doctors, but they have more of a holistic approach.  I got the bill already, but I still have nothing to fix my left thumb and it is getting increasingly numb.  He was a jerk. He was a neurologist and he did an EMG which is some kind of test on your hands where there were little shock things and then little needle stabs on the hands.  There was nothing palliative.  It was just a test.  You would think if he was a neurologist, he would be able to tell you the results of those tests, but he said he would not discuss it with me.  He would tell my doctor, which has never ever happened to me in my life before.  I wondered why he wouldn't be able to tell me.  I didn't know what I was supposed to do.  I didn't know if I had to spend another amount of money to go back and see her again for her to tell me what he did and then my insurance gets billed for it and I have my $20.00 co-pay.  I am really angry about it. It was a referral from the lady that shares his office space.  He was able to get me in pretty quickly simply because he probably doesn't have many clients.  He was on time.  Roosevelt Medicine is the office.  It is close to me and is very convenient.  I am on a lot of medicines.  Their office staff has been very helpful to me and their nurses as much as they can because it's quite busy since they have never replaced the best doctor in the universe who because his wife didn't like the weather moved down to Florida.  My doctor was unpleasant and strangely unable to explain things.  The bill which leaves me $211.00 was probably in the neighborhood of $1100.00 or $1200.00 that my insurance paid because he did perform the service.  I just didn't make any progress.  I am still having a lot of trouble with my thumb.  I have an appointment with an MD next week.  I have spoken to the nurse who called me twice.  I went down there and the friendly staff gave me a copy of the report which I don't understand, but I will take it with me when I go to the next doctor.  I did complain again yesterday when I had to stop by to pick up the prescriptions.  I wanted the billing number so I could write a letter to the doctors and copy the billing.  I didn't get any information out of this so I think my doctor should pay.  The service went to her and not to me.  I have spoken to the office about 4 times, but I haven't written anything yet.  I just get upset thinking about the $211.00.  I would never see him again in the future and if anybody ever asks me about him, I will tell them the same.
