  • When I dropped off our dog, the staff member wrote down the specific instructions for his feeding and took him back to play with the other dogs.  We picked him up 4 days later and he seemed happy.  I was very satisfied with his care and will definitely use them again.

  • During my initial visit on 3/18/2014 I felt very comfortable and welcomed at Best Friends Veterinary Care. Dr. Kim Vercande and her staff went out of their way to meet my needs even though I arrived without an appointment. Update: 3/24/2014- Between Dr. Kim Vercande and her assistant this was by far the best educational experience I've had at a veterinarian's office. I was taught the proper procedure for ear cleaning. I was given educational materials and food recommendations. Discussion took place about future immunizations and possible health complications. My appointment lasted an hour and a half, they took the time and patience to answer all of my questions. They were kind and gentle with both my dog and myself. My dog was new to walking on the leash and upon leaving the office he didn't want to walk out the door. Both Dr. Kim Vercande and her assistant stopped what they were doing, came to the door and helped praise and coax my dog to walk on the leash out the door. I was very impressed by this gesture and the overall visit.

  • We moved here within the last year and had to leave our old vet/groomer behind. I struggled to find somewhere that wasn't PetCo/PetSmart and wasn't completely outrageous for pricing. I dropped my dog off at 9 and picked her back up at 12 - they could have kept her for the day in daycare but I work from home so it wasn't necessary. My dog seemed to be at ease there as she's normally very timid. Her cut was great and I will definitely bring my other dog in as well.

  • They are great. You can contact them to check in on your pets. Getting a hold of them is easy. I even had them come and let me in my home once when I locked myself out. They really give you great customer service and take care of the pets perfectly!

  • We adopted our dog in April and she came from a bad home. The kennel took her in and made her feel welcome even though our dog was very scared and shy. Our baby came home very happy and it was good for her to understand that just because we leave we will be back for her. Very happy with Pepper Hill.
    Made another reservation for November.

  • I think their prices are a little bit high.  My experiences with them have been very good.  They’re all great and their demeanor is very good.  The facility and the environment there is very nice.

  • Ay Da Grooming does do the baths and she does groom the ears and nail trimmings. I won't ever paint my dog's nails, but I don't know if she does that or not. He's a boy and I don't think it's necessary. He would just go in there excited and she makes him feel very comfortable. She does an amazing job and he's usually done by two hours.

  • Max just graduated in August from K9s with Class and it was worth every penny. I think it was a seven week class and they train the owners to be better owners basically. Her name is Kathy and she is absolutely fabulous. She studied exotic animals, but dogs are her first love and when she moved back to Iowa she wanted to work with dogs. She does a grooming business as well but also does dog training. We were at our wits end with our puppy when he was getting out of the puppy stage and was really naughty and I was about to the point where I was talking to my husband about maybe getting rid of the dog, so this was absolutely our last resort and it has been a complete 180 with our dog. He listens to us. He doesn't chew on the furniture anymore. He doesn't chew the carpet up and is respectful. He waits when you tell him to wait before going outside and he's a good dog now and she does wonders. It was once a week and she also held like a practice as an additional day that you could go as optional. She'd work more one-on-one with you or if you just wanted the space to work with the dog so you didn't have those distractions from home where you actually did it she would open up her space and you could just use it. She does leash training and its being on the leash and just making little small corrections to get him to do what you want far as the movement that you do if you do it correctly then the dog will just fall in line. So really to be consistent with the dog and do the leash work and the leg work and the movements and then the dog just fall into place and probably the second week we started seeing results. We worked the limits and a lot of it is homework too. It's working with the dog at home and she also opened up her practice studio to let us use it as needed. Now he's just a dog and he's cute. She is strict when she needs to be. If the dog is acting out she's more strict, but if the dog is doing what the dog is supposed to be doing she is all praise and happiness and lots of love. She is very good with dogs. I'm actually the fourth person from my work that's gone to her. She's amazing. I want to take him back for like round 2. There's advance training classes as well and I think it depends on their maturity level, so he would probably be ready for the second class. When we got him we took him to another training class and it was all treat based, so it wasn't really effective for him. If you got a treat in your hand he'll do whatever you want him to and this was him respecting me as his owner and basically manners, like if you teach a toddler to say thank you and please and it's the same thing with the dogs.

  • We use Animal Kingdom Veterinary Care Center in North Liberty. I think that they may have boarding but I'm not sure and I just use them for the vet office. They're very good and really gentle with the dogs. The dogs are really comfortable around them. They also allow the owner to be in the room and they even ask if the owner is comfortable with holding the dog when they need to give shots and I just hold my dog and he's fine.

  • After several years of going to another vet clinic that was unable to find a solution for my black lab's ear infections, I finally got frustrated enough to go looking for somone else that might be able to help. West Branch Animal Clinic was recommended to me by friend, and I

was willing to try anything that might solve the problem.

Our first visit to West Branch Animal Clinic couldn't have been better. The office was neat and tidy, and I was pleased to see that they staff several veterinarians (a change from our last clinic). The vet that we saw did a phenomenal job of handling my dog's sometimes wild temperament, and he did a thorough examination on her ears. He cleaned them out with an ear wash and examined them again, asking lots of questions along the way to help him get a better idea of the full picture. He put a treatment in each ear and advised me to just leave them alone until my two week follow-up appointment. IT WAS AMAZING. After three + years of battling the ear infection, it was nearly completely gone after one visit to West Branch Animal Clinic. The aggressive treatment approach helped, even if it did leave her ears gooey for a few days. To add icing on the cake, when I went back in for the two week check-up, they didn't even charge me for an exam fee of any sort - they checked her ears out, cleaned them out again, and recommended a maintenance regime that I could live with and was more practical than the one given by my previous vet.

I am very pleased, and can't wait to continue putting my dog's health in their hands. The prices were great, the service was excellent, the place was clean and well-maintained, and they got the job done. As a bonus, they have the cheapest prices I've seen on Heartgard Plus ($20 less than 1800PETMEDS!). I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a good vet.
