FMagee Construction CoIMO... Very shotty work.. leaking windows, mushrooms growing in window sills, Gaps in flooring, drywall looks like a 3 year old did it. Will not return calls let alone fix the issues.- Michael L.

AFAW CONSTRUCTIONExcellent, couldn't be more pleased. Brent and his crew do great work, they are really nice and go out of their way to be helpful. They are a pleasure to have around through the inconvenience of having work done. His pricing is reasonable and fair. When we have work done again he will be the first one we call. It's hard to say enough good things about FAW Construction.- Suzann B.

AMartinson Construction CoIt took a while to get scheduled and I had to call several times. The work, though, went well and smoothly once they got it on their schedule.- William H.

ARussell ConstructionThere was just a simple sidewalk with an area leading to the house which would get underwater. They totally took out the sidewalk and filled it all back again so that it was right up to the house. The sidewalk was with a slant going away from the house so now we won't get water into the basement. They were less cheap than the first estimate I got. Our overall experience with them has been excellent.- Debra D.

AROGER SMITH CONSTRUCTIONRoger gave the most complete quote for the job. He accepted a change I wanted without changing the price. His crew was very efficient at doing the job. Roger was present during the work often enough to assure a quality job was being done. The bill matched the quote to the penny. They did a very good job of cleaning up the work site afterwards.- Derek E.

AIowa FlatworksWe were very pleased with Jon and his crew. We liked the fact that he pitched right in and worked right alongside his crew. There were some challenges with the slope of our driveway and the direction in which we want rain water to take when it drains away and they got that right. He totally understood what we wanted for an outcome and delivered. He was prompt with giving us an estimate in the first place and stood by his numbers.- John Z.

AMartinson Construction CoIt was great. All I would say is, like any project, doing as much as you can yourself will save money.- Elias R.

BMartinson Construction CoThe concrete work was excellent. The workers were efficient, professional, and obviously knew what they were doing. The price was fair but communicating with the contractor was a nightmare. Rarely did we ever receive callbacks without having to call several times (over a period of weeks) or leave frustrated messages.- Steven C.

DK C CONCRETE CONTRACTORSThe contractor started work after several days of heavy rain. I voiced my concern about this, but was reassured. Small pieces of heavy equipment were driven onto my lawn and left permanent grooves in the lawn. When I mentioned this to the company owner, he said "Don't worry. It will pop up after the next rain". NOT! I find the steps they put in are too high, although the contractor knew I have a bad knee. He told me the steps met code (true) at 8". I don't understand why they needed to be that high when he knew of my preference for a lower step. Finally, despite the fact that I was told by the owner that the job would look beautiful when they were done, I was left with a ton of yardwork to do. I found chunks of old cement to be picked up, tan, rocky soil placed in a few of the low spots, and no raking or finishing around much of the sidewalks. When I phoned the contractor to ask for some black dirt to place next to the sidewalks where dirt was missing, he dropped a business card into my mailbox with a message saying "black dirt $500". I was a fool and didn't get any other estimates, but I now believe that I may have been overcharged. I was asked for payment when the work began ("It's been raining so much and I need to pay my men"). I paid part of it at that time. After the concrete was poured, I was asked for the remaining payment. I gave a check to the owner the next day. Another foolish mistake on my part. I should have demanded the finish work around the sidewalks and steps be done before payment. As it was, my son came to my home and did several hours of roto-tilling to re-slope the yard to accommodate the new concrete work. We bought topsoil to fill in large gaping areas next to the walks and steps.- Susan R.

ABrent Dunlop and his employees and subcontractors did an incredible job. Brent was a complete professional from start to finish. His estimate was right on, and any extra costs were changes we made as the project progressed. The best thing about working with Brent was that everyone seemed to take pride in the work and wanted it to come out good! After the project was done, they cleaned up (even shampooed carpets on our porch) and it was like they were never there—except for the brand new bathroom. They were very good to my infant son and the whole thing was just really pleasant. My wife and I are new to the area and we were nervous about hiring a contractor where we really don't know anyone but this was just the best experience for us. It was well worth it!

FSalesman that we were to replace dry wall. Later learned we were to have it removed. Attempts to reach supervisors and owners resulted in zero until time to do installation. Gave $1300+ down. Note: this went to the salesman, not to MABS. Then salesman stated $12,000 more if MABS removed the dry wall. Paid salesman and his friend to remove it but didn't do all of it! Sent certified letters to Cedar Rapids address after we got no verbal responses to phone calls. Later learned they receive no mail there, only in Davenport. Were to have GFI outlet placed at far end of basement. 3 electricians said not possible. Also discharge was to be underground to rear of yard which we thought meant to back! House sits on clay. Was to discharge under ground out 10 feet from house. Canceled installation and have found that other basement waterproofing companies do not require 2.5 feet of dry wall removed: only baseboard. Cost was same as MABS. Now we must pay to have drywall installed after the waterproofing is completed.

AJust wanted to drop a line or two and let you all know how impressed we were with both your workmen and their work. In today's society, you just don't find companies that really do a great job, they usually just do enough to "get by".
At times, without their knowledge, I was home and could hear some of the men talking. Much to my surprise, their language and subject matter were always appropriate. Don't find that much in the labor force today! It spoke volumes to me. When they did speak with us, they were always very kind and informative.
The work that was performed consisted of excavating the dirt to gain access to the footings on both sides of the foundation. On the inside, they had to bust out the concrete floor and hand dig to the footing in order to install their brackets for the "unified lift system". After installing the brackets, they attached special hydraulic equipment to the brackets which drove 3" diameter
pipes down to bedrock. Next, they attached a hydraulic jacking system to each pier location. Using their special vehicle with a unique hydraulic pumping system they attached hydraulic lines to each location and were able to do a controlled lift. From what we understand, your company is one of the only ones that can perform this "unified lift".
We were taking pictures daily and emailing them out to family and friends who could not believe their eyes! They started out making our basement look like a bomb went off and when they were done it was swept and looking very nice!
All this to say that the work done was absolutely astonishing! We will highly recommend EHM to everyone that we hear may need this type of work completed.
Thanks so much again. We were dreading having this work completed, but you all made it so much nicer by your
expertise, kindness, and professionalism.Mike and Cheryl
