    Actually Clean Carpets
It was horrible. Actually Clean "misplaced" all of our electronics, stole my kids' piggy banks, my jewlery, took advantage of our insurance company and did a horrendous job of rebuilding our home. They left screws and nails all over our yard (we have kids and animals) and fought us the whole way through to correct their mistakes or poor job. DO NOT USE ACTUALLY CLEAN!

    House Doctors
These guys really know what they're doing. They cut open the sheet rock, added the wood backer board, then buttoned up the sheet rock, painted it, and rehung the shower door securely. It looks the same, but the shower door now closes correctly and firmly, which it did not prior to their excellent analysis and work.

    Home Town Restyling
I had called around 7 different contractors to get estimates for the work. Home Town Restyling quickly returned my call and set up an appointment to come do the estimate. I was extremely impressed with their quote process. It was very detailed and they give you the quote before they leave unlike the other contractors who took anywhere from a few days to over a week. Also the amount of information and detailed questions they ask during the quote process was complete night and day difference from all of the other contractors. They left no detail or question unasked. The quote process alone separated them from the others. Other contractors simply measured the doors and said they will send me the quote not asking me any questions as to what options or features I want. Probably intended to underbid and jack the price up later. Not with Home Town, I knew the exact price with everything detailed in the quote before he left. They even walked me through install process and what to expect. Also included in the quote was to cover replacing a portion of the subfloor which was likely going to be rotted (it was) due to the cheap French doors. Thanks Beau you did a great job on that. So we went with the extra wide Sunrise doors (Wisconsin style as Beau described it to us) for both upstairs and downstairs with the upstairs having the built in blinds. Before our estimate appointment I decided to stop in to their showroom to see the product in person. Beau showed me the doors and went into great detail about everything including the engineering design of the doors which I appreciated being an engineer myself. He also showed me the quality and energy efficiency of the glass with their heat lamp test which was impressive to see the difference in types of glass. So between the demo in their showroom and the quote process it made my decision very easy on which contractor was getting the job. Beau is a great salesman. Ok so after sealing the deal they ordered my doors which was around a 10-12 week wait as the vendor builds everything to order which I'm okay with. I feel that results in better quality products than something being mass produced overseas. After seeing other recommendations on here for Bill doing the installation I asked if Bill could install mine. Glad I did. Bill did a great job.. He was very attentive to every detail and made sure everything was done perfectly. For a guy who takes the time to French curl his mustache I kind of figured he would leave no detail imperfect on the install. It took a couple of days for the initial install and a few followup visits for some trim/finish pieces to be ordered. Thanks Bill. As for the product itself I am pretty happy. We could immediately tell a difference in the temperature in our house. The doors are solid and so far no leaks unlike the cheap rotting French doors they replaced. They are pricey but very well engineered and the fact that they come with a lifetime transferable warranty means I don't ever have to worry which made me okay with the price. These are not the cheap mass produced doors you see in the big box stores. Overall I was quite happy with the work that Home Town Restyling did. If I had to find a critique I would say they could improve upon their communication post quote to finished install a little bit. I would definitely consider hiring them again on upcoming future projects.

    Cedar Rapids Entry & Window
Gary came out and took a look about three weeks before we were ready for the work. He gave us all the information necessary to order our doors and the necessary hardware recommended.  Once the doors arrived, he scheduled to come out within the week to do the job.  The old storm door was not operating properly due to some issues with how tight the opening was. Gary opened this up and framed in the new door so it would operate properly for years to come. Job started at about 8:45 and was finished at about 3:00.  I will definitely recommend and use CREW again in the future.

    Schroer and Sons Home Improvement
Went very well. Met with the owner 2 or 3 times to discuss the work and take measurements for materials. The workers were very professional and polite and they did an excellent job on the tile, door and trim work. In an attempt to save money, I bought door knobs for all the doors ahead of time, but they were the wrong ones. The workers took time to go the store and get the correct knobs. Charged me for the knobs of course, did not charge me for the time to get them. I was very pleased with everything.

    Home Town Restyling
hey were slow to get our job done. The door was high quality although they ordered the incorrect door opening in the wrong direction..They have ordered another door and plan to remove the wrong door without any additional charges.. This was mainly just an inconvenience. Although put a question in the consumers mind... Jury is still out.. planning to do windows as well.

    Dan Lynch Construction, Inc.
Dan Lynch is very easy to talk and very responsive to requests.  His workers were diligent, cleaned up after their work each day, and performed repairs that seemed to be impossible, but they were so meticulous that the repairs were perfect.
We had two horrible repair areas at windows that had leaked for years.
Time and time again we had people come in to find the leaks and fix them.  None of them ever stopped the leaks, but Dan and his workers found the two leaks, which proved to be improper installation when we built the house.  One leak was in a 14-foot span of windows, two stories high with 9 foot ceilings on both floors. The windows were surrounded and separated by very ornate wood trim that was painted white.  Once the leak was "actually" repaired, the leak being the above the window where the wall met the soffit, the repairs began.  50% of all of the wood trim on that wall had cracks opened up in wet seams, creating highly visible destruction by the water.  With the tiniest of tools, he very meticulously cleaned out all of the cracks, filled the spans of open breaks in the wood, painted the areas that were patched,  That window also had serious and ugly water damage to the sills which were also repaired. When he finished this project, it was impossible to tell any water damage had ever taken place; it was like new!!
The second very serious leak was in the large front window.  This was another leak that numerous repair people told us they had patched . . . NOT!!!!  Dan Lynches men found the leak, which was caused by a missing piece of the window on the floor above, which was how the builder of our home caused 9 years of leaking in the big window below!!  Dan Lynch and his workers not only found the cause of the water damage, fixed the problem, and repaired the extensive water damage in the big window.  Since the water had leaked in from the floor above, the wall paper had fallen way from the wall around the large window.  The leak had created wood expansion and cracked paint on the window sill and on the mopboard at the floor below.  The span of wallpaper between the the sill and floor had fallen away from the wall.  At the top of the window was the worst damage that ran the entire length of the 10-foot window.  In beginning his repairs the painter poked into the wallboard above the window to remove the damaged area.  The wallboard came down and was so saturated that it had disintegrated into a soft, moldable clay!!  He cleaned away the area above the window, installed a piece of new wallboard, about 9-feet by 5 inches, did all of the plaster and patch netting work and careful sanding.  When that was pristine, he painted the area and when dry, he replaced the wallpaper.  No one would ever know there had been a leak.  The repairs that he did made were more art than a repair!!!
There were numerous problems where simply painting over patched picture holes was not satisfactory because, although, I had all of the original paints, some had dried up.  With my folders of house construction information, I had all of the paint numbers for the house. When he went to have fresh paint made for those dried up, he found that they had changed the base for all of the paints.  The color was a perfect match to the walls, but looking at an angle, there was a different sheen to the original and new paint because of the base change to non-toxic.  A few rooms he had to paint in entirety.  He found that by a clever method of painting up to wall seams or deco wood, an area without a need for patching could be left unpainted by using corners, and other wall breaks as a method of making the paint job look perfect, without having to repaint the entire room.
Over all of the years we worked with contractors for building additions or making repairs in 5 different homes, I never found anyone to compare to Dan Lynch and his crew!!!  Besides the beautiful  repairs, Dan was a very patient and responsive man.  I would hire Dan Lynch again and highly recommend him to people needing help with their home.

    Home Town Restyling
Home Town Restyling was way too pricey for me. There was not anything major. Its just that the pricing was way more than I thought it was going to be. The sales person was really courteous, did not hide anything and told me straight up that they used the best of the best and stuff like that. The only negative I really had through the whole experience was the price especially after I looked around. They were very good with responsiveness they were on top of their game. I had no problem with punctuality too, they worked around me pretty well. I’ve looked in and talked to other people about getting other stuffs done, the cost and their just genuinely high.

I wanted to have the front entry door on my house replaced and rather than seek out contractors myself I decided to try out Lowes installation services where Lowes handles ordering the product and materials as well as hires and manages the contractors to do the work. Worst decision ever. I've never dealt with such incompetence before.
So this 6 month long experience starts out with me at Lowes in their door and window department where they present with me with several catalogs to look through. I select a custom 36 inch fiberglass 3/4 glass door with oak stained finish, 2 3/4 glass sidelites with decorative glass and a full transom window across the top of the door. The transom window had to be custom made since the vendor didn't carry a transom glass that matched the sidelite glass. I also select a 36 inch full view glass storm door. So far so good.
The next thing they do is hire a contractor who they send out to my house to measure the entry before they order the door. I'm told that the door should be built and ready in about a month and then they will let me know when it's done at which point their contractor is suppose to contact me to schedule a day for the install. A month goes by and they indeed call me to let me know the door has arrived at their store and that their contractor will call me the next day to schedule an install.
Now is where everything starts going bad. A week goes by and no call so I call Lowes and ask why their contractor has not called to schedule a time yet and they say they will make sure he does. A few more days go by and their contractor finally decides to call and says it will be a month before he can come to do the install.
A month goes by and I schedule a day off from work to be present at the install as required by the contract that Lowes made me sign. The night before the install I get a phone call from a different contractor telling me that the other contractor decided he didn't have a big enough crew to do the job so he can't do the install. So this idiot waits the entire month to decide he can't do it.
This new contractor says it will be a month before he can get out to do the install. Since I already schedule a day off from work I lost 1 vacation day so far. At this point I am obviously getting quite ticked off. I had to call Lowes to inform them of what was going on because they are obviously not managing their own contractors and they were clueless to what was going on.
Another month goes by and the new contractor shows up right after Lowes drops off the door. The door is missing trim pieces and they forgot to include the door handle and deadbolt which I ordered. So I had to call Lowes to bring it out. The contractor had to go to a supplier to find matching trim to replace what was missing from the new door. So the contractor gets the new door installed and gets ready to install the 36 inch storm door only to find out it doesn't fit. The new door was not built to the correct size. They built it with a 34 inch door which made the opening only 31 1/4 inch wide. Minimum building code requires a minimum of 32 inch clearance so our new door does not meet code. So I lost another vacation day. So not only can Lowes not manage their contractors they also can't manage their vendors or they didn't order the correct size. I never got a consistent answer on that.
So since Lowes didn't believe that their contractor can measure correctly they send out a and quot;project specialistand quot; a few days later to confirm that the door does not meet code. A few more days go by and they call and say they are ordering a new door and tell me it shouldn't take more than a few weeks this time. They planned to reuse the custom made transom window already installed to cut down on the build time since it's size won't be affected.
When I asked why nobody thought it would be a good idea to measure the door when it came in and sat in their store for 2 months waiting to be installed I was told it is their policy not to touch any products before it goes to the customer. Great policy geniuses.
A month goes by and no calls from Lowes so I contact them to find out they haven't so much as checked on the progress from their vendor. So they call their vendor and find out they haven't even started on the door and that it will take at least another month and a half to complete the new build. Apparently Lowes can't get them to expedite the order and they are backlogged. Gee I wonder why.
So nearly 2 more months go by and the door arrives at the store again. This time I made sure they measured it before they brought it to my house. They confirmed that the door was 36 inches.
So a few more weeks go by and their contractor shows up once again to do the install. I take another vacation day. Before the contractor takes the door off the truck he decides to recheck ALL the measurements again. Guess what, the door is over 2 inches shorter this time. And guess where they took the 2 inches out of. You guessed it, out of the frame for the transom window which means they cannot reuse the transom window because it won't fit in the new door. There is nothing the contractor can do to fix it.
So at this point I just cancel the order and ask for my money back and for compensation for the 3 vacation days that Lowes cost me. Took weeks to get my money back and another few weeks to get them to compensate me for my time.
During this 6 month long ordeal I had dealt with department managers, assistant store managers and the store manager. It was quite evident the incompetence went all the way up to the top.
I would absolutely not recommend using this Lowes store for any kind of home remodeling or installation services. Save yourself time, money and grief and just hire a contractor directly which is what I get to do now since I still have a door that is not to code installed in my house.
