CAUTION - when relying on Issac We needed our chimney rebuilt. Issac estimated it and finally we received a starting date. After, working an hour he said the job was too big for him. (some damage to our metal pieces). We request that he would paint it after we find another handyman. Once done he came back and quoted over $100 an hour to paint the chimney. He kept push us out on his calendar. We dropped him. He had us paid for the hour that he worked on the Chimney before exiting. Very poor communication if we are scheduled? If he is starting on the day he last told us? Problem answering texts.

The time allotted for the job stretched out for some time, but they advised us that the time frame may be lengthy due to weather and other factors. The work performed was very good; trim work completely matches the original home, and the workers found several little issues that they advised us on and then repaired. The paint work was hand brushed under the siding edges to get a complete thorough coverage. We are very happy with the end result and would hire them again! Two of our neighbors have now hired Mid-States based on the work done on our home.

The short version: You get what you pay for. This wasnt the cheapest estimate, but they fixed it RIGHT and we wont have to do it again. Judd and his crew were always very respectful and courteous and I would trust them with any project on my house. Many dog walkers and retirees have stopped by and commented on what a great job they did and how you just dont see quality work like this anymore. The longer version: This was not the easiest project as its a 2 story house with a walkout and the chimney is on the side with the steepest hill. I started getting estimates for repairing the chimney last fall (2015). There was rot and the wood peckers had started going after it. I got several estimates from people who were just going to replace the few obviously rotten boards, slap on some paint, and call it good. Thats how the previous owner had fixed this problem several years ago. I had one person come look at it, explained several of the issues, said it would be expensive to fix it right, and then never bothered to give me an estimate. I got a hold of Judd and he came and took a look. He understood the root cause of the problem and spent some time thinking about the best way to fix it so it wouldnt rot again. The way it was originally built, caused water to sit where it shouldnt. He did a very thorough job with the estimate. They started repairing the chimney in April (2016). Once they tore off the outer layers, the could see there was very little insulation randomly placed so they insulated it. That would explain why it was always so cold by our fireplace. They had to repair some structural pieces that had rotted. They made it look beautiful by matching the house trim on it instead of plywood and 1x4s that had been previously used. The siding also ensures the water will move down the side of the chimney, not sit on the 1x4s which isnt something I had thought of until Judd pointed it out. He did some work at the roof line to make sure the water flows away from it instead of pooling against it. They finished off with a good caulk job. A week before they arrived to work on the chimney, we decided the whole house needed to be painted. I quickly got estimates on that and we decided on Judd and his crew. They werent the cheapest but they pressure washed the house, scraped, caulked, primed, and 2 coats of paint. They brushed under all the siding edges to ensure the primer and paint got worked into the crevices of the siding. The previous owners had painted trim on the front of the house but the rest of the house was all the main color. Judd and crew painted the trim all around the house and it looks great. When scraping the house, they found a soft spot in the soffit at the front of the house. They took it out to replace it. I happened to walk out shortly after they did this and there were 7-8 very large wasp nests laying on the ground (Ive never seen wasp nests this large). Every spring and fall we have wasps in the house. We could never figure out where they were coming from. We havent had a wasp in the house since they repaired the soffit so Im guessing we now know the source. When this house was built, they put the gutters up then painted the house so there was bare wood behind the gutters. They took those all down and found a few places to repair. The gutters were too small for the roof so we had them put 6 gutters on as well. Due to the bigger gutters, they were able to eliminate a couple of the drops so there isnt so much gutter clutter on the house. Finally, the vent in our master bathroom was never connected correctly and was vented through a soffit vent which caused dirty drips on the side of the house. One rainy morning, they vented it through an existing vent in the roof and cleaned out fan because it had builder crap in it (not the first time weve found that issue in this house).

iThe end of a piece of vinyl siding had come out the the J-channel and was flapping around in the wind.  I called Handy Guy in early winter and he informed me that this siding is susceptble to cracking in cold weather so he would try to schedule on a day above 50 degrees.  Had had to cancel on scheduled day because of cold weather, but he said he would keep in touch, which he did.  He came exactly when he said he would.  He explained exactly what he would try to do and how he figured the cost.  He did the job in about an hour and explained the probable cause of the problem.
He was professional in appearance and manner.  He identified some deficiencies in the original installation and mitigate those best he could.  There is a 90 warranty on his work, and he explained what he would do next if there are more problems.
I appreciated that he responded to my original inquiry promptly and he followed through on his own initiative.  I don't often see this in contractors.  I  highly recommend him.

I was just days away from listing my home when this accident occurred.    They made time in their busy schedule to fix the hole and indentations in the dry wall.    This allowed me enough time to prime and paint the areas before the home was on the market.    This couple is the best.    I have used them in the past, and they are on my speed dial.

    Joe Handyman LLC
John (owner of Joe Handyman) was referred to me by a friend.  We need both the bathroom exhaust fan and dryer vent vented from the attic space to the outside.  The dryer vent was tricky because of where that attic space was located but John made a great suggestion to solve our problem.  He had to run new tubing through the attic space, drill down into the garage and out the garage wall.  He was able to do this without the venting infringing on any storage space.
John is a really friendly guy and knows what his stuff.  We will definitely use him if/when another project comes up.

He did some work for me inside the house, he hooked up some electrical things and he also did some carpentry work for me. He did a fair job, I think that his price was fair and his professionalism was very good.
