  • Contractor did call and set up time to come out for estimate, however, as far as we know he did not come at the designated time and we have not heard from him since the initial call to schedule an estimate.

  • In late November I came home at lunch to a garage door that wouldn't open.  The opener tried, but it had broken a spring.  I checked Angie's list to find a reputable Company that I could call to fix my door.  I called Hicklin, and the same afternoon Eric showed up and went to work.  Before starting any work, he explained the problem and the steps needed to fix it.  After replacing the spring system, the opener would grind and not lift.  Eric demonstrated this and provided me with opener replacement options. At no time was there any pressure to upgrade to a higher priced opener, he just provided me with the options and cost and let me decide.  I opted with a higher priced opener for the extra features, not due to any up-sale pressure.

    I appreciated the professionalism, promptness and speed of repairs.  Everything was working by dinner and works better than the original over a month later!  I highly recommend this Company.  As demonstrated by the other reviewers, they are reliable and professional.  I highly recommend and will call them again should trouble arise.

  • Snow removal services were outstanding.  We had an issue following the first snowfall, but once we called, they came back promptly and corrected things, and we never had an issue again.

    In the spring, the yard clean-up went well, and the chemical applications and lawn mowing got off to a good start.  We also had them apply mulch to our landscaping, which I would say went only OK, as in my opinion it seemed that they skimped on the amount of mulch applied.  This was confirmed, when about a little over a month after we had the mulch applied, one of their workers who was out to rectify a mowing issue discussed later in this review, recommended we think about having mulch added to the landscaping and was surprised when we told him we paid A+ $3000 earlier this spring to do just that.

    However, starting in late May, I'm not sure if they had staff turnover, or what happened, but things went downhill rapidly, as whoever started mowing the lawn in later May did not know what they were doing.  There would be 6-10 feet sections of the lawn that were not mowed, there were areas where the mower height was too short and dug into the dirt, leaving no lawn, lawn clippings were blown into the surrounding landscaping or pilled up on the lawn to the extent it could damage the underlying grass.  It became a fiasco, having to call and get someone to come back out to correct things on multiple occassions.

    Then we had requested multiple times when talking to our rep. that someone contact us about some plants we wanted removed, and then the additional plants we wanted installed, as well as some weeding we wanted to have done.  After multiple attempts we were finally told by our rep. that he didn't work in that area and that we needed to call someone else at the office (which would have been good to know from the start).  After we got connected to the proper person and got a quote for the work (approximately $1700), and made a down payment (approximately $650) , was a little disappointed as it took quite a while to get the work completed (over a month).  However, we could understand that they are busy, just wish this would have been communicated.  Things did look good once they were finished with the plantings and pulling weeds.  However, when we got the invoice, it was for quite a bit more than what was originally quoted ($2100), though no one had called to indicate any additional work was needed to complete the project.  We called to determine what the issue was, and could not get an answer from either our new contact person, or from the billing department, and while our contact person would say they were looking into it, no one would ever get back to us (this has gone on for multiple weeks).  Then to make the issue worse, we find out after we had disputed the cost and requested additional information from both our contact and their billing department, they went ahead and charged our credit card for this entire amount ($2100), not even applying the credit for the down payment previously made, so we were actually charge a thousand dollars more than they original quote.  Again called both the rep and their billing department and at first couldn't get any sort of response other than that couldn't be right, when sent copies of the receipt they sent and our credit card statement to prove it was, were finally told it was "likely" just an error on their part, and they were looking into it and would get us the information we needed by the end of the next day.  However that day came and went and we still have not received any information from them.

    Then to make matters worse, that same day we received another invoice in the mail, charging us for the two disastrous mowing services that damaged the lawn, which while I wasn't happy they felt they should charge for those poor service calls, I could have tolerated.  But then they also charged us for three additional services that were not performed (edging in April and two months worth of weed pulling service in April and May - which if we already had them doing weed pulling services, why did they just charge us $700 for doing it in June as a special project, which is part of the whole billing fiasco detailed above).  When we called on this invoice, again speaking to the same people that haven't been able to rectify the billing issues we have been having, were originally told it was for requested services, then that they were looking into it, then that it was likely a mistake and should not have been included on the invoice.

    While we have spent a great deal of money with A+ over the past year, and have then recently had all of these issues, no one from the company's management has reached out to us, and their has been no effort to make this up to us on any level (other than when we had the mowing issues, they did come out to mow the areas that were missed and removed the piles of grass clippings from the yard so it didn't kill the underlying grass).  All we have received is their shallow promise that they are looking into it and will get back to us I guess at some point in the future, when it works well for them.

    While we got off to a great start with A+, I currently have little faith in this company, their management, and their billing practices.  Seems like there have been too many issues at too many different levels to think it is just coincidental and not an overall systematic problem.

  • The service was good. He was able to fix it within a short order, and got it back to where it should have been. He showed up on time, got right to work, fixed it and was very courteous.The price was excellent, and their responsiveness was very good.

  • I was very pleased. Their ability to get out to my home and get the job done in such a quick window of time was above and beyond what I expected. They would have been out to do the work the same night I called and got the quote, if not for a fender-bender their service man was involved in due to the nasty weather.
    The next morning, the service person was here and done in less than two hours.
    He was able to give me a quality product at a price that didn't surprise me and he was also able to do some maintenance on the door that I had been putting off for a long time.
    Our door is so quiet now, that the dog can't tell when we are home.

  • The cable on my garage door came off the pulley so the door would not close.  I called in the evening and the tech came out the next morning.  He replaced the springs to prevent the cable issue again in the future and because they were worn, and also the rollers on the door as I had also noticed issues there.  Jake was very knowledgeable and friendly, answering all my questions.  The work was done quickly and efficiently.  I can't believe how much quieter the door is now!  I would highly recommend Hicklin and will definitely use them again in the future.

  • I came home after work to find my garage door wouldn't open and noticed that one of the springs above the door was broken.  After checking reviews on Angie's List, I called at about 8:00 in the evening to set up an appointment.  I expected to get a voicemail but he answered and set up an appointment for a four-hour window of 10-2 the next day.
    Dave called me a little before 10 to say he was on his way, and was already there when I arrived home from work.  He was very friendly and professional.  After taking a quick look, he said it should take 15-20 minutes, and sure enough, he was done about 20 minutes later.  He replaced both springs, lubricated the door, and recalibrated the opener for the new weight.
    I had a coupon for $169 from Angie's List, which Dave mentioned was out of date but he honored it anyway.  I think regular price would have been $179, which is still pretty reasonable.  Overall a great experience, and I will definitely call him if I need any other repair.

  • Josh did an excellent job of plowing the snow from my driveway.
    He arrived at my house just a few hrs after I called him, (and on Christmas Eve day!)
    I would definitely recommend Patterson Homes for snow removal, he even plowed the bikepath in front of my house!

  • Great experience with a very professional company! We are very pleased with the concrete work Speck USA completed at our home. All of the work was done in one day and other than new concrete, you would never know they were there!! They did an excellent clean up job! The crew was very professional and explained everything they were doing in detail to make sure everything turned out as we expected. We were very impressed with how prompt, courteous and professional they were. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience and we would recommend this company.

  • We came to Angie's list to find a business that not only could do the job but also provide the service expected. We knew we wanted to become more maintenance free which means we were going to remove the deck and replace with some type of patio.I called to make an appointment with Solid Rock and within 24 hours we had a date set for estimate. Chris came to do the estimate and was able to elaborate on the different types of patios that could be used.By the time he left we had pretty much determined what we wanted for our patio. We were pleased with the estimate. Once we agreed upon using Solid Rock the service had just begun. Chris returned to discuss and validate what colors and stone types we desired. He wanted to ensure we were comfortable with our decision so he sent us to the company where he would purchase the stones so we could see the actual colors. What a great suggestion because the stones did look quite different when you could see them on display. Once the agreement was made the service just kept on coming. Chris gave us a start date for the project and there were no delays. The two man crew came in and 3 1/2 days later had completed the job. This was even less time than Chris had estimated. The crew was very polite, professional and was willing to do whatever was requested. At the end of each day the crew did a clean up and you could hardly tell they were here.We can honestly state that we got the top of the line service with this team. We felt like we were the most important customer's through the entire work process. This company is honest and reliable and should be the one you select for this type of work.
