It went great. They are very professional and clean. They make sure not to track dirt or particles from the fireplace throughout your house.

I was really pleased with them. Insurance covered it. The price was very reasonable. They were wonderful. Rick was really personable and he really watched his crew. He made sure that everything was what I expected. I did need to have some follow up work done on the chimney and he did that and also did some insulation. Every time I called him, he answered immediately. The price was comparable to another estimate I got. I got more for my money from him. The roof looks good and it appears to be quality work. He and his crew were here when they said. He came over a couple of times to check. He was very professional. I would use him again and I would recommend him.

They arrived early and were very prompt at getting to the inspection right away. They showed me the actual buildup in my chimney and cleaned it thoroughly. They gave me an inspection and recommendations on firebox changeover for better combustion. Very personable and easy to deal with.

    Big Dog Deck & Chimney
Excellent service!  Not only cleaned the chimney but cleaned and inspected all the other vents throughout the house.  Caught some issues and concerns with the chimney that were overlooked by previous services.  Very thorough, efficient and competent - we will definitely be using Big Dog again!

    D C Chimney & Masonry
D C Chimney was very helpful. We were in a bit of a time crunch and they worked us into their schedule within a few days of calling. David arrived to fix the chimney to find that it wasn't broken - the dampers were permanently fixed open because of a high-efficiency damper that a previous owner had installed. He explained everything to my husband and wrote it out on our invoice for so the buyer of our house would understand the outcome. He was very helpful and we will definitely hire him for any work that needs done to the chimney at our next home.

    D C Chimney & Masonry
I chose this company because they do solely residential work and I didn't want my job bumped due to a bigger commercial contract. The initial estimate went very quickly and efficiently. I didn't get additional estimates but did some price comparisons with friends who've had brick work done and determined that the cost was reasonable. I called to book the job but want given a specific date...and then didn't hear from them for over 6 weeks. I called to check on it and they said they were just about to schedule the job and they'd be out the following week. I'll never know if that was true or if they lost my paperwork, but I hadn't paid a deposit so no harm done. They did come out the next week and the work was complete in less than a day. I give the work 100% for quality. It looks and functions great ( I have a working fireplace I use fairly often.). On clean-up I'd give them 90%, I found some loose bricks in my daylily bed, but not enough to be annoying. I hope to never need this type of work again, but I'd call them back if I did.

    EJS Roofing LLC
We called and got an estimate from EJS Roofing. After receiving the estimate we had to contact them and let them know they could not have measured correct. Their estimate did not measure the correct house. Roofer then remeasured and issued an estimate. Work proceeded not long after estimate given. Work was completed in a quick manner. Clean up was not near as good as expected. While the work was being done we notified damage to our vehicle. Alerted the job foreman who said he would communicate to his boss. After the job was done we received an invoice for the roofing work. Two days after receipt we sent certified bank check for payment. Emailed sales rep asking about damage on vehicle? After a couple of weeks I get a very rude call from the owner of EJS. This man could not be farther from a nice person to deal with. Owner proceeded to tell me that we still owed him money because his office staff did not add a cost to the invoice they sent. Explained to me I should have caught his mistake. Sent me emails saying that if we did not pay his 500.00 mistake he would not pay his contractors or suppliers so they would file leans on my home. Called me a week later on Friday night telling me he would assault me for the difference he says is owed. As of this posting he still has not repaired damage to my vehicle. Continues to issue threats. Work looks good but be warned this owner is not a nice guy when he does not get his way. We would not ever recommended this company to anyone for any reason. If you would like to see the emails from this company please let me know.

    DeNeve Construction
I don't know what's up with this Rick guy and his company, but the "experience" I didn't have with them makes me seriously wonder who all those people are that gave him such a favorable rating for his roofing services. I called DeNeve on May 17th in hopes of getting them to give me an estimate on the repair/sealing of the flashing around my chimney-turned-linen-closet (the drywall in the closet was taking on moisture and developing a spot of mold. I decided to have the cause of the problem fixed before repairing the resulting damage). Whoever it was on the phone told me they'd be over that afternoon if they got time or definitely Monday around noon. "Great!" I said, "I can work with that." Well, he didn't show that day or Monday, according to my 26 year old son, who set aside his entire day to wait on these people. I didn't hear from them on Tuesday, so called again on Wednesday May 22nd.  Same guy answered the phone and upon hearing that no one showed up, told me he'd look into it and get right back to me. He called back 5 minutes later to say that he himself would be at the house around 2 pm on Friday. Now again according to my son; the guy showed up on time and was mistakenly shown a very minor situation with my freestanding fireplace flue. I'd already explained to DeNeve both times on the phone, however, that the problem was with a brick chimney that had become a linen closet. So, if the man was confused about what he was to look at, he shouldn't have been. My son says the man was on the roof and gone without another word within 10 minutes. I have yet to hear anything from DeNeve. I don't know what DeNeve's problem is/was, but I'm seriously thinking all those glowing roofing reviews are plants. I gave DeNeve a fair chance to provide a service and they screwed it up. No way will I be calling them again.  I got the same behavior from EJS Roofing. But they're about to get their own separate review. ADDENDUM Well, on June 3 or 4, Rick returned again. I had called another company and was expecting them that Monday or Tuesday,  but it was DeNeve I discovered working on my roof at the appointed time. I say "discovered" because there was no announcement upon his arrival. Just somebody walking on my roof. It was Rick and he was sealing exposed meshing around the chimney in question. He explained they'd been very busy the past week and apologized for not showing up as scheduled - the patch job is free. "OK, cool", I thought. And as I pulled away for work before he was quite packed up, I asked him for a statement of what he'd done. "Sure!" he said, again apologizing for the inconvenience. Upon my return home, I found in my post box, a barely legible invoice stating "seal chimney where webbing is thin" It's undated; so that hasn't helped me remember if it was Monday or Tuesday. And I certainly won't be able to use it as a very convincing record that anything was actually done. So, I was wishy-washy on the phone, eh? (Says Rick in his Jun 2 response to my original review). Perhaps (objectively; I doubt it). But that still doesn't explain the contractor's behavior. I can't testify to the quality of the free patching because it's going to take a more persistent spate of water on the roof to say whether or not the patching worked. So far - even with these past few relatively heavy rains - all is well. So, now, Rick did, indeed, call me a couple of times after this, asking me to adjust my original Angie's review, and I promised I would - which I am. And I'm sorry, Rick. You seem to be a nice enough guy and all, and you did me a small favor... It's just that the professionalism and follow-through delivered is still a bit wanting.

    Big Dog Deck & Chimney
They came and were very nice but told me my chimney was not functioning and not safe to use.  I was told I would need an entire chimney flashing rebuild and would cost $3,000 to make it a wood burning again and $2,000 for a gas insert.   He said he would send a quote to repair just the immediate concern of some missing mortar and never did.  Tried to contact again the next summer with no luck.  Had a different contractor come in to finally fix the mortar and when I told him what was previously quoted to me, he said "Let me guess, Big Dog told you that."  he said he had 2 calls on Friday from realtors with the same story, Big Dog tells the same thing to every house they inspect, its not safe to use and they need thousands of dollars of repairs. They probably do good service but get additional quotes before giving them the job.
